Became a loyal customer about 7 months ago after my very first visit! Here's what I've noticed: [Shopping experience- Customer Service] Pros: Great customer service, most of the time! Vast majority of the staff are super helpful, talkative, and kind. Always black femme staff in my experience, which just feels right. The owner/manager, if you run into her during their community events, Instagram feeds, etc. is very lovely as well! Staff are very sweet and patient with kids too! Cons: Customer service quality depends on who's working. There are (or perhaps, were) other staff girls on different days- particularly evenings- that clearly don't want to be bothered, hide behind the registers looking down at their phones, and answer questions very shortly. When you approach with items to check out, they seem to hope that the other girl will offer to help you... so you're just standing there awkwardly until someone finally gives in LOL. This type of service experience has only happened to me twice, and I shop here about every 2 weeks. [Shopping Experience- Products] Pros: FANTASTIC product lineup. The stuff you've heard of, and the stuff you haven't. Anything you could ever need for your hair! I love seeing the shelves filled with black-woman owned product lines. And local brands, too! Hell yes!! Cons: Unreliable stock. When I'm shopping for something specific that they had in stock last week- especially if it's from a popular brand like Mielle or Camille Rose- there's a 50/50 chance that it will be on the shelf again this week. I need my Mousse Def... but so does everyone else, apparently! I've had to order my specific deep conditioner on Amazon while still inside BeautyBeez because sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. I also noticed that some items are a few dollars cheaper on Amazon, but if BeautyBeez has what I need in stock I'll always choose to support them, even if the shampoo is $2 more. Because I'd rather support black businesses! [Beauty Bar Experience- Medium Mid-Back Passion Twists] Pros: Good pricing, and online booking was easy. They let you upload pictures of examples to show what you want. The girl doing my hair was so fun to talk to and very skilled at hair. I loved the finished product and not one twist unraveled or slipped off during 2 months of wear! The staff also served me my choice of coffee, tea, or water while I was waiting and in the chair. It was also okay for me to be on a Zoom work call, which was a bonus. LOL Cons: I booked an appointment for 10am, but my stylist didn't arrive until about 10:15am. This was apparently abnormal, and the other staff ladies made up for it in their kindness while I waited. Additionally, while it was fun to chat with my stylist once I was in the chair, what should have been a 4 hour style turned into a 7 and a half hour style. I was there ALL DAY- but that's partially my fault for chatting back! LOL. Lastly, and maybe this isn't a con for others, but apparently BeautyBeez takes a large percentage of the payment from the stylist. I believe she said it was 30%. That seems like a bit much, so I felt the need to tip my stylist a bit more than usual, and next time I want my hair done, maybe I'll just DM her directly instead of going through the BeautyBeez Beauty Bar? I don't know, I just feel like they really shouldn't be taking more than a 10-15% cut from the stylists, but what do I know about running a business? [Community Eventa- In Store] I went to the in-store Christmas 2022 extravaganza, as well as another vendor event! Pros: So many cool black businesses! Free goodie bags (I got a free pack of 28" braiding hair)! Free games to play for the kids, the Christmas event even had Santa for a photo opp! Champagne was being served! Staff were still kind and helpful when I couldn't find the Jamaican Black Castor Oil, even in such a busy event! It's amazing that they organize these to really bring the community together. It's like a cookout without the grill. Cons: None! Overall, BeautyBeez is my top favorite beauty supply store. I don't shop any other store for my hair care needs, and I'm excited to try their facial treatments at the Beauty Bar next! read more

I support female owned and black owned businesses so I decided to give this place a try. I made an first ever appointment, received confirmation and had the required virtual consultation. Day of my appointment, I arrive and was told "Oh you're early!"... "No. My appointment is at 11:30am." "...oh... I have you down for 12pm." So I show my email confirmation. Turns out, the person I booked with "couldn't do it" so they changed my appointment to a different stylist and bumped me 30 minutes. "Someone should have called you." "...Yes. Someone should have." They offered me a beverage while I wait. I sat there for 40 minutes before I was given my tea and a full hour from my original appointment time before I was sat in the chair. I'm giving it 3 stars because the girl that did my braids did a great job. They have extensive products available for purchase and the staff was friendly. I really wanted to make this my go to braid spot. read more

I have never been to a beauty store quite like this. It's bright, clean, cute, and inviting. The girls here are so nice and they literally have everything you need for black hair care. The beauty services they offer are just the icing on the cake and I can't wait to book one. I'm thrilled that this spot is near my home and I will be coming here from now on. Now I know why their beautybar barely has any reviews on here. I love this place, I come all the time to get stuff for my hair. I decided to give waxing my brows another chance and thought since they had a beautybar it would be just the place. Worst decision I've ever made!! She absolutley fucked up my brows and don't even know if she knew what she was doing since she took over 30 minutes to wax them!! Felt like she knew she messed them up and was trying to fix it but there was no use!! My brows look hideous and I haven't stopped crying becaue I feel so ugly now. Extremely disappointed, please do yourself a favor and don't come here. You're better off going to the swapmeet, even they do a better job there smh read more

The girls working on a Sunday when every other beauty shop is closed were super helpful and attentive. Felt welcomed the minute I walked in and was given the assistance I needed with picking out my hair extensions. Love the vibe of the shop as well, such a cute and clean store! It was clean, open and way better than any beauty supply store I've been to. The products were well displayed and fairly priced.
