Brag Nasty has helped with two of my logos for my business and I've also purchased multiple apparel items I have been very happy with.

Ojen's State Street Alterations - A happy client

Ojen's State Street Alterations

I have spent the last 3 and a half years searching throughout Ann Arbor and metro Detroit for a…read moregood tailor. That search is finally over. Before moving back to the midwest, my local tailor was a man who trained in Milan and spent 50 years in the business. He was perhaps best known for making John Kerry's bespoke suits (and if you've ever seen photos of John Kerry, you know those suits fit his body wonderfully). Getting clothes tailored from him was like a high--and I've been chasing that high all over the region for the last few years. So after being dissatisfied at 4 other tailors in the area, I gave Ojen a shot. I had somehow gotten my hands on an obscenely nice (and expensive) coat, and needed a few nips and tucks here and there. Nothing was necessarily complicated, but the unique construction of the coat meant it needed a gentle hand, particularly around the sleeve buttons, to avoid scarring. The coat of course turned out perfect (hence the rating), but a few other aspects of the experience are notable. Ojen and her co-worker explained every decision to me and walked through exactly what they would do to the coat. They communicated great via text, and also had me try on the coat a couple times throughout the process to make sure the fit was exactly right. They also under-promised and over-delivered on the timeline. While it was not cheap, it was certainly comparable to the other highly-rated tailors in the region. In my experience, Ojen is the best in Ann Arbor, and certainly worth a visit.

Ojen's was able to get my son measured Saturday evening and had the jacket ready by Monday. I really appreciated them going beyond expectations. Definitely recommended. I'll be back in the future.

The ol' creak of the door, rich smell of the wood, and rows of thick suits creates a heady experience. I've been going to Vahan's since I was a small child, when I would accompany a parent or two who needed something tailored or wanted to peruse the luxurious bounty. Lest you think the only appeal is Vahan's customer service, be aware that the man's tailoring skills are advanced enough to border on the paranormal. One of the greatest institutions Ann Arbor has left. Long live Vahan!

It was a mistake. I regret it. I'm not sure if Vahan (who was kind-er) or his assistant George (who was mean-er) were offended by the fact that I bought a suit using the Internet or that it was a more modern and slim style, but they hassled me about both, and not in a paternalistic "I know a lot about suits" kind of way, but in a racist, "now you've made me uncomfortable" kind of way. As in, George yells at me, "You're in America now, you should buy American." Excuse me? I might not be white, but I've always been "in America." I was born in Illinois. And where do you think Italian suits come from? End of story, the suit jacket needed to be sent back, but the pants could have been hemmed here. Too bad. I chose to take my $75 tailoring credit to somewhere that doesn't racially profile me. The only reason I'm giving them a second star is because I have no idea how they are at altering clothes. they might sew like a boss, but after this, I just don't care.

At Bridal Expos and online, you usually get bombarded with the chain Menswear places to do your business with for your wedding day (like I did). The styles at these places were bland and I wanted something different. I stumbled upon Sam Michael's and from my first visit (of probably 5 or 6 in total), I was hooked! Walking in here for the first time, I didn't know what to expected. I explained that I was getting married, and 8 groomsmen and 2 parents that needed suits. I was sat down and shown all of my different rental options, which included suits, tuxes, pants, ties, shoes and other accessories. So many decisions, but I was granted the ability to stay there and think carefully, but also explained to that I can change it as many times as I want up to a month or so before the wedding date. Attached are some pictures of the suit I picked for myself and my groomsmen. It was a brand new suit in their inventory that they personally owned, as well as the color choice for my accents (pocket square and tie). Michael and team were very professional through the entire process. We had multiple texts and phone calls back and forth during my moving of our wedding date as well as when my accent color was discontinued. After the wedding was all said and done, I was granted a $500 shopping spree on a suit set of my choice. That was really exciting and I got a nice blue, checkered patterned suit. Initially the suit was advertised to me as "slightly more expensive" but better quality and service than competitors. After we allocated our wedding finances after we got married, at Sam Michael's, I actually spent LESS than what I budgeted and LESS than a competitor I was initially going to go with. Totally worth it here! Thank you Mike and team for everything! I felt like family every time I walked in. No errors or resizing for any of us during our pick ups.
