They have some cheap prices and specials. A bar with the basics. It's about $6 for a cocktail. They have the usual kind of stuff. Classic brands. Jack, Jim, whatever. For sure not the place to get a martini or something fancy. There's also local beers if not wanting to get liquor. For a local bar it's okay to be honest. It's cramped at certain times but usually there's plenty of room inside. There's no real food but they have free popcorn.

The couple attends concerts at the theater often so it was lovely to know having their wedding there meant so much. My partner and I watched the wedding from the balcony where the view was spectacular and were easily able to move around the upper level and main level when we wanted to mix and mingle during the reception. If I could watch every wedding from that vantage point, I would; so cool! The venue allowed outside catering, so we had the couple's favorite local barbecue. The serving line moved fast and I was glad for the space allowed to line up all 150+ of us. The stage was used for a dance floor later in the night. Though small, it was a fun experience. The stage is a bit difficult to navigate around as there is only one set of narrow steps in the front. The lights also contribute to making the dance floor a bit warm.

Looking for a real country bar in downtown Bloomington? Well, there's one. It's called Six Strings…read more I've heard that they have some good country acts from time to time. I went when there was live music and it was a pretty cool venue. There are lockers so that you can store stuff (great during the winter) and the stage is pretty nice. My favorite part though is that there are two or three truck beds mounted to the north wall - it looks like some trucks backed into the bar. You can sit in the back of the truck like you are tailgating. They do a nice job of embracing their country theme here. I would be interested to hear what others have to say about this bar. This place was in the news about a year ago because there was supposedly a knife fight between some bikers, so make sure to keep your head on a swivel!

The musicians are incredible - Darcy, of the gravelly voice introducing the artists, brings in the best of the best. Not only will you get to listen to great music, you will be treated to the stories behind the songs. Typically there is a selection of CDs made by these artists and more often than not, I return happily to my table anticipating the new ear candy I'll be enjoying. There is not a bad seat in the house - from a viewing as well as a listening standpoint. In fact, the musicians more often than not will comment on how pleasurable it is for them to perform there. Go to the Blue Moon website and you will see the current schedule, which I am happy to say is filled through the end of the school year. There are links to every artist's website where you can learn more about them and listen to samples of their music. In all the years I've gone to Blue Moon, I have never been disappointed. It makes me look forward to to the return of students. Life is good!

My friend and I who are both ISU alums went to this bar. After paying cover and getting my ID…read morechecked I was checked by the bouncer. The bouncer stopped me and then yelled at me and said "oh you want to waste my time?" when I asked what he meant he said "answer the question". "I said no and he said right so why are you wasting my time." Again I asked him what he meant. A guy walks past who I assume is a manager, my friend tries to talk to him and the bouncer shoos the guy away. The bouncer proceeds to get in my face and asks me do I want to take this outside. I again ask him WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT. After about 15 minutes of being verbally assaulted I was finally let in. My friend who I brought with me is now in tears because she was so afraid. After waiting for her to go to the bathroom and settle down we decided to head to the bar and try to enjoy the rest of our night. Im not sure if it's because Im black, if it's because he wanted to create a line, or if he was fresh off doing a line. But I will not be coming back. This place is racist and has bad music. Don't come here.

Find some pretty okay drink specials and more. The atmosphere sucks at times but it can be okay. A good thing is it's near lots of other bars. If you don't like it here, there's many other places to go. Truthfully it's not all that bad though. It depends. Like all campus bars, its atmosphere changes throughout the year. It's very quiet in summer, and hardly open. They even have limited hours during the school year. Mostly just Friday and Saturday nights, if even. The drinks are the best thing. It's about $3 for the cheapest. The cheapest isn't good but it's cheap for sure. Games in here include cornhole. It's typical drunken fun. They also have live music but there's often a cover though.

One thing I did find misleading was that it's $3 for a can of Bucsh here because of their specials. While they're originals are $5.49. They have a non-alcoholic versions feature here too but unfortunately you can't get that for $3 like the alcoholic version of Busch which sounds pretty odd. Overall, I really did enjoy my visit. Restrooms are clean and well taken care of. Plenty of nearby parking as well.

Inside it was pretty spacious and they could have fit a few more tables, but I imagine in the evenings it allows for more people to stand and walk around. We enjoyed snacks and drinks right outside our room. We sat out on the covered porch on the side of the house and enjoyed the setting sun. In the morning, we were treated to a gourmet breakfast. We stayed in the Carl Vrooman suite; had 3 rooms. One was "standard", with a comfortable bed, the second was a sitting room with Carl's desk and a couch; then a separate bath with clawfoot tub. Everything was very "period". It was quiet, clean, and easy access to restaurants in Bloomington. We bounced a dinner idea off Brian and he heartily agreed - and it was great! Left at 9:00 the next morning, refreshed and happy.
