We struggled finding a…read more Primary Care Physician for check-ups; physicals and occasional winters colds and what appeared to be minor ailments. Many walk in clinics have wonderful nurses but the turnover in their employees is continual-which hinders good service. We were referred to Dr. Hopkins and his staff and it was just what we needed. They are located right off the square downtown Murfreesboro in an older but very neat building. Our family has seen Dr. Hopkins on occasion and also his PA's and nurses-they are all very thorough, professional and kind. They have either always taken care of us or referred us on to a specialist when our case warranted. The front office staff are polite and always ready to answer questions. When our private insurance was cancelled by BCBS and like thousands had to scramble for health insurance- we made sure our new coverage was a policy that Dr. Hopkin's practice accepted. It's been several years since I have used Dr. Lewis as my PCP, but wanted to share my experience…read more Dr. Lewis has a great demeanor and for run of the mill things like the flu or high blood pressure, you're in good hands. If you have anything more challenging, you may be taking your life in your hands. I had a small tumor in my pancreas that he didn't seem too concerned about and approached with a "wait and see" attitude. Within six months the tumor grew so large that not only did it require the removal of 60% of my pancreas but it had also blocked the blood flow to my spleen, requiring it to be removed as well. For months afterward, as my A1C kept rising to dangerous levels (17 at it's highest), his answer was to just keep increasing my oral diabetes medications. Thank goodness another doctor referred me out to a good endocrinologist who was aghast at how my diabetes was being handled. He made the comment that any competent doctor would have known to switch me to insulin as I did not have enough of a pancreas left for the medication I was taking to function as designed. Within a few months my A1C dropped drastically and I found a new PCP. Dr. Lewis seems like a very nice person, and appeared genuinely concerned, but when your health is on the line, you want expertise. If you have a complicated health issue, you may want to look for a more seasoned physician.

I'm not that crazy about dealing with MMC anymore. It seems - idk..big, shiny, bureaucratic and unfriendly - since they moved to the new building. Even though I don't particularly care for MMC, I still go there because Dr Lewis is so good.

A surgeon consulted with me and advised me to leave that provider. I then got many recommendations for Dr. Patel. Those recommendations were "spot on". Dr. Patel is great. Dr. Patel is wonderful. He is amiable and understands where you are coming from. He believes you. He does assertively tell you what your treatment plan is. He will take all factors into consideration. One of the best things I like is that he is a part of an overall consortium. It is "one stop medical shopping".

There are so many good medical providers in Rutherford county that it leaves me befuddled as to how…read morethis one remains in business. My wife and I used Dr. Nwankwo for several years. I stopped a couple of years back, but my wife just now had enough of the shenanigans and incompetence to say enough is enough. There is no such thing as continuity at this practice. Keeping accurate records and billing are apparently not a priority here. One of the most annoying things is that when it comes to maintenance medications for say, cholesterol or blood pressure, most providers will be happy to write you a 90 day prescription and have you come in maybe every 3 to 6 months to check your labs. This practice will write you a 30 day script, and then force you to come back in a month to pay another copay just to sit and watch the doctor write out new scripts. Calling and leaving messages or getting any info over the phone is an absolute nightmare. You are lucky if you talk to the same person each month and the practice is like a revolving door, staff-wise. If you value your health, your patience and your wallet, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I didn't think it was a big deal at the time but now that I am in need of another appointment I am being told that I won't be seen because I never paid them for my first visit. This is absolutely ridiculous. Never pay for doctor visits with cash unless you plan on holding on to a receipt for over two years. What a joke.

The other doctors just wanted to keep me on prescriptions drugs, Dr. Potter cared enough to actually fix me instead of just prolong my illness. When I had questions, they answered them very quickly, in fact, much quicker then all my other doctors. If you are sick, Dr. Potter is the man to see. He will fix you instead of just keeping you on drugs. I feel better now then I have in over 8 years. My only goal was to feel good enough to play with my grandson, Dr. Potter not only got me there, I am able to do things I haven't done in years and feel better then I ever have.
