It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

Everything was delicious from the veal lombatina to the pappardelle cing, to the onion flan , to the filetto Chianti ....just delicious . Of all of Florence this was my favorite restaurant.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

Since we didn't have a reservation at Bianco restaurant the staff guided us thru to Pavone restaurant to a cozy spot at the bar counter. That was incredibly kind and accommodating. I guess they both belonged to the same owner as we were given menus from both the restaurants to order food. Both the restaurants had beautiful decor. One carried a traditional charm & the other a modern tone. We kicked off our meal with complimentary bread & olive oil. We ordered a refreshing Aperol Spritz and a glass of Chianti Classico. For starters, we dove into a creamy burrata topped with freshly shaved truffles and olive oil an intriguing combination of grilled crostini with toasted bread, anchovies, and a flavorful green paste & a sprinkle of olive oil. It was a unique and delicious combo to start with! For our main courses, we enjoyed a show-stopping dish, Chicken breast with pecorino and truffle & this dish was, without a doubt, the best and one of the highlight of our entire trip, & wife ordered wild boar ragu was equally satisfying. Both mains were perfectly complemented by two glasses of Bolgheri red wine. A special shout out to our bartender, who was not only knowledgeable about the menus and wine selections but also incredibly friendly and helpful, making our dinner experience even more enjoyable. We thoroughly savored every moment and every bite at Osteria del Pavone/ Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco. I highly recommend this bar & restaurant to anyone traveling to Florence.

We spent three days in Florence and ate here twice, and cut our tour of the Acedemia out of our schedule to make sure we could make it for lunch before heading on to Rome, that's how awesome the food was! The people running the restaurant are so amazing, they truly treat you like family while you are there. They were always attentive, but never lingering. Unlike restaurants in the US where you are expected to eat and leave as soon as possible, in Italy food is mean to be enjoyed over conversation and camaraderie, which means unless you wave someone over or your glasses are empty you are left to enjoy yourselves. Osteria Santo Spirito is no exception to this rule. You'll be warmly greeted and well cared for but never hovered over. You will absolutely want to make a reservation, a wait for a table inside can take a bit to get if you just plan to stroll in off the street, but the seating outside is just as beautiful and a bit more plentiful. A really intimate feeling interior, our servers were attentive and helpful and we both really enjoyed our meal. The Pecorino Brulee was unique & simple, yet good, haven't seen anything like this before. We ended up feeling a bit peckish still and ordered a Gnochhi al Gorgonzola, and that was delicious as well. For dessert we tried their gelato (supposedly from Vivoli!) and it was a nice meal topper. House red wine was good as well. Restrooms is clean. Service is fairly quick. English menu is available. It got crowded/busy after 1pm, when we were finished with our lunch.

I tried both the tagliatelle with wild boar sauce (€20) and the one with red fish (€25). The prices are a bit on the pricey side, but suppose that can be expected for a nice restaurant like this. There are quite a lot of tables inside and there was no wait for a weekday lunch when we went (although there was a good amount of other people there). The staff are friendly and the service speed is decent. Overall, there's nothing particularly special for me to note here, but that being said, Trattoria Cammillo is a solid choice for a lunch or dinner in Florence.
