We chose the Lodge 7 years ago because they had the best care and plan in our opinion. They were wonderful for the first few years when our parents were fairly independent. The last few years there have been 7 directors in 5 years, the staff has turned over many time. The care has dramatically declined. If you love your family members find someplace different to provide care for them. read more

If you have a loved one living in the Bozeman Lodge who is not independent PUT A CAMERA IN THEIR ROOM. My dad has missed many meals, showers and assistance getting dressed, even though it was included in his care plan. On October 3rd at 5:42 I noticed the Lodge had not gotten him dressed and he missed all meals. I asked that they check on him. His pulse was 3x higher than normal and BP low. I asked that a nurse check on him and was told the nurse would check on him the next day. I insisted the nurse be called and ambulance. He was admitted into the hospital with heart failure and bedsores. He would not have survived until the next day when a nurse was to check on him. read more

ATTENTION FAMILY WITH A LOVED ONE NEEDING HOSPICE OR COMFORT CARE FROM HOME! I would not recommend this facility to my worst enemy. My grandmother has been a resident at Bozeman Lodge for a little over 2 years now. She has progressing dementia, but otherwise is (or was) able to live on her own with assistance with medications. On Friday, May 31st we received a call that she had fallen in her apartment and needed medical attention. She received this at Bozeman Deaconess and then was released to return back to her apartment at the Lodge. Due to the severity of the fall, we were told that staff at the Lodge would be checking on her more frequently to assure us that she was eating, drinking and taking her prescribed medications. She has always had a very independent mind set and was very angry that we had confiscated OTC antihistamines that had been hidden in the apartment (never should have by passed staff at Bozeman Lodge but did nevertheless). She did not want us coming to the apartment for a few days, so we respected her wishes. To make sure that she was ok while also keeping he request in mind, phone calls were made to check in with her daily. On Tuesday June 4th, we received yet another call from the lodge that she had fallen. When she arrived at Bozeman Deaconess, she was so emaciated from not eating and drinking all weekend that the ER doctor who admitted her prepared us all for her to pass in the CT scan. She was admitted into a room for observation and to treat her for an overdose of Antihistamines- we are not sure where exactly these would have come from other than from the lack of observation by the Lodge. After 2 days on IV fluids and medications for Parainfluenza and Pneumonia with further decline in other areas, we made the difficult decision to put her on Comfort Care, per her POLST order that she made during sound mind. The hospital could no longer keep her admitted, so we made arrangements for her to return to her apartment under the care of Still Water Hospice and the Lodge. We spoke with the Lodge's staff and administration to make sure they were equipped to handle such care, including promising us that there was a RN on staff 24/7, and that a member of their care team would be with her the majority of the time until she passed peacefully. Family took turns staying with her, but we relied on the promises made to keep her comfortable and safe when breaks were needed. She was moved back to her apartment on Wednesday June 12th, and Still Water Hospice excelled all of our expectations. However, they cannot be there 24/7, so we were relying on the promises made by the Lodge to be present in her care when family had to sleep, ect- as they had adamantly promised and were being compensated for. Yesterday, June 13th, we received a call from the Case Manager from Still Water Hospice, who had come to check in on her and found her face down on the floor, after falling out of her bed. No person or persons from the lodge were anywhere to be found and it took them over 15 minutes to get to her apartment after being informed of the fall. The fire department arrived prior to a representative from the facility. Did I mention my grandmother is on COMFORT CARE in her last days on this earth? Falling out of bed is not a part of her care plan. The Still Water Hospice case manager recommended that we move her immediately to a Respite center and not allow her to go back to the Lodge. We have also been informed that complaints of lack of care are a regularity on the part of the Lodge. My aunt, my grandmother's POA, spoke with Executive Director of Bozeman Lodge this morning. He said, "The Lodge does not have to have an RN to dispense Comfort Care medications." We explained that we were told by Still Water Hospice and Palliative Care that it is required by law to have an RN dispense these kinds of medications, and before making the decision to move her back to her apartment, an RN would be included in her care provided by the Lodge. He also said, "I had an RN checking in on her." When asked what that individuals name was, he replied, "I have to think before telling you, I don't know." According to Montana State Law, part of the patient relations and responsibilities is to be able to get names and contact information for any individual or facility member involved in a person's care. We were promised that an RN was on staff. There are no RN's staffed by Bozeman Lodge. The criminal negligence that the Bozeman Lodge has displayed is paramount and it has been advised that we report them to the State Board of Health and Safety of Montana, as well as the corporate owner that financially owns and runs the facility. This will be done this afternoon. No apology or responsibility for lack of care has been given by the Lodge. In fact, it took almost 24 hours for them to respond to our calls and visits to the facility. When we went there, we were told that the management and other higher power professionals were unavailable. read more

From the first moment I spoke with Elicia at the Bozeman Lodge I felt at ease. She was genuinely friendly, concerned, helpful, and gave our family all the time and attention we needed during this process. The Bozeman Lodge was eventually the place we chose for our father's next home. It felt right from the moment walked through the doors. The facility is clean, welcoming, lively and vibrant. I loved watching the interaction between the staff and the residents, and it feels good knowing a loved one will be under their care. read more

Beautiful environment, but truly atrocious administration once you've signed on. Our senior lasted six days there - admittedly, she needed more care than they could provide. But the way in which our transfer out was handled was beyond rude, and the six days of life at the lodge were filled with venom and isolation rather than the gentle care we were led to believe the Lodge could give. Very young caregivers and inexperienced on-staff nurses led to our senior eating nothing while she was there (except hard chips, which she cannot eat). We left with medications in total disarray...we'd provided a month's worth and left with 8 days plus extra pills that hadn't been prescribed. The staff was dismissive (the director snapping her gum throughout the exit interview) and we were misled throughout. I'd give a negative score but for the fact that it is a lovely place for retirees with no issues..ljust an expensive hotel setting. read more
