The box is white and beige and has a single door. Mostly soft covers and some thin books today. A wide variety including the one that based the movie The Help and a Dean Koontz. By installing little bookshelves in communities, the "librarians" hope to promote literacy and the love of reading, as well as a sense of neighborhood, by building free book exchanges worldwide. The concept is "Take a Book, Leave a Book." You are welcome to drop off your gently used books, and to help yourself to anything that catches your fancy. It's a library with no late fee! This one, built right by the playground in the park, is in a great location. I can imagine parents and children checking out the books, after an energetic hour in the playground. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of usage though. Most of the time I pass by the library (repurposed from a newspaper stand) is rather empty. Hopefully more people will discover and use this little gem!

So if you ever come to this park, stop by to drop off or pick up a book or two.

The idea really caught on and today there's an estimated 25,000 LFLs in all 50 states and over 70 countries. Maybe you'll wonder, but I haven't seen any in Miami? I was wondering the same thing too for the longest time. There are several LFLs in Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, even one in Key West. But I haven't found one in Miami. Whenever I mentioned LFL to my friends, they would say, oh, someone will come and steal the books - no, they'll steal the library - in a few days. Surely Miami is better than that. And proof is here, in this Little Free Library in the tiny village of El Portal, where the beautiful little wooden box has been installed since February 2015. And still surviving, offering reading enjoyment to adults and kids alike. Take a book or two with you, and if you find a title you like, bring it home. A library without late fee.

It seems like the aisles kept going, and there was a huge back room full of more aisles of books, And they have a nice section of comic books also which was cool. I thought the section for comic books wasn't as large as I was hoping, but still cool, and I had plenty to go through. Also there is a case with some rare ones also. The staff was really friendly and helpful. My husband found a really cool Star Wars item there he was happy. They also have a small selection of collectible toys. Went walking around more and they have children's book section with vintage books, I had when I was a kid definitely had to take one home. The prices are very good here and reasonable. If you're a book lover, this is definitely a good place for you. You will be pleasantly surprised. If I were in the area of North Palm Beach I will definitely stop in again.

Some of the books looked old and rare. I recognized Hardy Boy books back from my mothers childhood stash. There is also an entire room filled with collectibles and comics. I didn't need any help but the friendly gentleman running the store that day was at the ready to answer questions. Hard and soft cover books are half off whatever they are priced at on the inside cover. They had a great election of Agatha Christie mysteries which are always a favorite. In a time when so many independent book stores have gone under it was a pure delight to discover Book Exchange and Comic Shop. The intoxicating smell of the store is familiar to anyone who loves books. You can order books online but there is something so satisfying about going into a bookstore and holding the books in your hands as you make your decision. Visiting this store is a great way to save money as you add to TBR pile.
