**Edit:** I did receive a reply to my email from the manager. I believe that he is taking my concerns seriously and that they will use my feedback as a retraining opportunity. He also offered to personally come and help move any remaining items free of charge - which was an incredibly kind gesture, albeit too late.

I was really excited when I learned of the Boyle Street Moving Company. We have always been supporters of all things Boyle Street and this sounded like an amazing opportunity to provide training and jobs to those who may be otherwise overlooked.
Before I booked my move, I was really happy with the service I had been receiving. I sent an email to get some information on rates and availability and got the details fairly quickly. They were very accommodating and held my moving date for me while I got some other estimates. They even said they would try to match any other quotes we got. They also said that I could pay with a post dated cheque since payday was on the 3rd (4 days after the move).
I got back to them a couple of days later and said I would like to confirm my move for the requested day and time (July 30th @ 9:30 am). A couple of days later, I hadn't heard anything back, so I had to follow up. It was indeed booked.
Moving day started off well. They showed up exactly at 9:30 am. But I was really shocked when I saw the size of the truck. Had I been told the size of the truck, I would have had to book with another company. I asked them a few times after I showed them around if they thought it would all fit. They were optimistic, so I tried to be as well.
Twice I had to ask them to stop sliding furniture and rubbermaid bins across the hardwood floor, as they scratch easily and I really needed my security deposit back.
When it was really apparent that they definitely would not get everything on the truck, we asked them at the very least to bring everything to the main floor so that we would not have to haul things up or down stairs while we scrambled to find someone with a truck who could help us. Once they left, we found boxes, bins, and even an exercise bike (that I had specifically asked them to take) on other levels of the house.
We ended up having to haul two pick ups full of stuff and countless extra loads in our small cars. It was really a nightmare. They offered to do a second load, but that would have cost an extra 1.5 hours just in travel alone, not to mention the loading and unloading time.
I had been saving up so I could hire movers. We didn't have the energy or resources to do it ourselves and I thought this would make it easier. Turned out - this was the most exhausting move I've ever been a part of.
I sent an email to try to discuss the issues and provide some feedback, but I have not yet heard anything back from them. read more
