The police had to come twice with a fine of over $500 for the false alarms due to the sensor that never got fixed although we paid $187 for the "repair. Yesterday morning we called the office who promised to call us back "in a few minutes". When we had to call back yesterday afternoon, Nicky was irrate and said she would speak with her repairman and would call us back today. NO CALL BACK and they left early today for July 4th. This is anti-customer service and we hope to give them the benefit of the doubt. We spent thousands of dollars for our business and for our home for over 15 years and are so disappointed. Hopefully the manager will see this and take positive action. UPDATE: Manager and CFO Andrea did call us back today and wrote an email that might help with our appeal to remove the false alarm fees. She listened and is trying to work out a solution for us which we're grateful for. So this went from 1 star to 3 stars and hoping to report 4 or 5 stars. read more

Unfortunately, there is no provision for leaving zero stars. We became customers of Boyd and Associates when they bought out our previous alarm company, with which we were extremely happy. The service from Boyd was never great but imagine my surprise when we had an active alarm occur. Needless to say, the monitoring company that we paid for through Boyd never called, the sheriff never responded, and when I called Boyd and associates to report the alarm, following their reporting instructions, they were incommunicado. I made three consecutive attempts to call them and following the instructions on the outgoing message, I pressed "9" to report an active alarm. Each time I pressed "9", not only did no one answer but the call was disconnected all three times. I wasn't even given the option of leaving a message that we had an active alarm. For all I know, while paying for the monitoring a year in advance, we may never have been monitored in the first place. Boyd claims we were, but it certainly didn't work the one time we had an active alarm. I did manage to reach someone the following day and they agreed to send someone out, which they did, and promised to refund the cost of monitoring from the time the active alarm occurred to when the problem was "fixed". I received a sizable estimate to "upgrade the system" and when I called to discuss the amount of the estimate, I was informed that the gentleman who did the estimate would take another look at the estimate and get back to me. This was in late October or early November. I am still waiting. I have called three times in the last six weeks to inquire about the promised refund, and I have yet to receive a response. If any good came from this display of negligence, arrogance, and unprofessionalism, it's that we were able to find another alarm company that has been absolutely outstanding. Boyd securities cares more about revenue than the human beings that pays their salaries. I would like to give a full disclosure on this company and there business practices. We were customers of SNI security with Mitch for 20+yrs and zero problems of customer service. Boyd buys the company and things immediately change. They began to harass us to sign an illegal automatic renewal contract. This came in the form of emails, false and threatening bills and nasty threatening phone calls. For those who don't know, Auto renewal contracts as of 2017 are illegal in the State of California. I have received several nasty emails threatening phone calls and just terrible attitudes from whoever I have spoken to or tried to reason with. I switched to Vivint securities which definitely is very different however I could definitely not be with a company with horrible business practices and harassing customer service. If you continue to treat people this way, good luck with life and your future! We all have choices and you aren't the only gig in town. I miss Mitch he was more of a friend to our family as we have six total households with his service. We definitely will all be leaving. read more

With all of the choices out there for home security I would never even consider Boyd & Associates. They bought out Draganchuk security a few years back and all they did was increase prices and dish out crappy service. Draganchuk was a good company. Boyd & Associates ruined it. Also beware of hidden gotchas in the small print of their contracts when you decide to cancel. In my case I called to cancel. They said they need it in writing. A call should be fine but I sent a letter of cancellation. Thinking it is cancelled a year later I get another bill. I call and of course they say they never received the letter. They ask me to send another one and begrudgingly I do. Then they say my second letter came in too late and they want to charge me for yet another year. It is just a bunch of unnecessary crap from a greedy company with shady tactics. They should be ashamed, but you know they are not. read more

Watch out for this company and their billing practices. They bought out Bay Alarm in Costa Mesa which had been great. Check your contract billing details carefully to verify their requirements for advance notice before they annually renew your service. If you miss by a day they will bill you for 12 months and threaten small claims to collect in full. Fortunately my contract was an old one that allowed easier terms. Be warned and find someone else their service was no better than others; basic telephone followup. During construction they have no real process to cancel account, only short term hold. Then discussing extending alarm to new area they claim impossible without buying a whole new system not reinstalling the original alarm. read more

I inherited Boyd when Silver Security (the best) closed and sold their customers to this inept company. Each time we call there is a major confusion and one department doesn't seem to talk to the other. It has been a year and in spite of our simple requests (ie: bring us new signs) nothing has been done. My contract ends next month and can't wait to let them go. read more

First and foremost, I am NOT a customer of Boyd, and because of the rudeness and (for some reason that I cannot figure out) outright hostility of its salesman, "Jeff," and I never will be. I was a cash customer ready to pay for a top of the line system for my Santa Barbara home. I made that clear to "Jeff." Yet he provided an estimate (not a hard quote as I requested) for a stripped down minimal system that might have been sufficient for a small apartment, not a large home, for which I was attempting to hire them. When I told "Jeff" that is proposal was too small, he became angry and stated that I did not understand security systems. (Which is incorrect as I have contracted for probably 15 systems for homes and business I have owned over the past 10 years.) "Jeff" refused to explain what we would be paying for the equipment items and for the labor to install them. He repeatedly said that there was "no way" that he could get my system installed within the next 3 to 4 weeks and that I had "no idea" how busy the entire security business is right now (it's not, by the way - not during this pandemic!) or any idea what I was buying or asking for. As I attempted to discuss my needs with salesman "Jeff" (and calm him down) he became more hostile, angry and insulting. Even to this day I cannot believe that he, being in sales with someone ready to immediately buy, lost his temper and lost the sale. I was speaking to "Jeff" on a speaker phone and at the end of the conversation, my wife came in the room and asked, "Why didn't you just hang up on him?" (I suppose I should have.) Happily, that afternoon I was introduced to another, larger and more reputable company who installed what I asked for at a fair price and did it all within one week of my introduction to them. Sorry for the long review. Bottom line: I've now heard from others about this character's anger issues. Two current customers tell me that that the company is completely unresponsive to their needs - and wanted to know who I am using. I am so happy that "Jeff" exposed me to the Boyd Security's "company culture" before I became entangled in their poor service. I strongly recommend that if you are looking for a security system provider, you investigate very carefully before dealing with Boyd. You can do better. Very unhappy with this company. I had two false alarms which led to police being dispatched. I was unable to reach their Monitoring station to turn off the dispatch. I was placed on hold by their rotary answering machine. And not able to reach them in time. B&A's front office is pretty unprofessional. The only reason that I have given Boyd one star is because of the great people that man the phones when the alarms go off. It took them over six months to complete our installation, the installers had no idea what promises the salesman had made, there were numerous miscommunications regarding the services. The saleman came out to help resolve the issues, took all of our paperwork. It is almost a year and we still don't have a copy of our contract and instructions on how to man our system remotely. The installers made a mess in my bedroom drilling and did not clean it up, they did not complete an installation because there was football game that they wanted to watch and they left the job incomplete. I also have my business alarm with them and moved. They transferred my location from one office to another, but they never updated the new address in their system, so when the alarm went off the police were dispatched to the wrong address, gratefully it was caught and corrected and it was a false alarm. They did not give us instructions on how to get our police permit for the new location, and we almost got fined, but luckily you can now get permits online and we were able to get one immediately. The administration department is rude, pass the buck and don't follow instructions. We were withholding payment of our installation because it was six month and it had not been completed. We issued two post dated checks for them because after not completing the installation for six months, they were threatening to take us to court. I spoke with the sales rep, he agreed to let us make the balance due in two payments 10 days apart (I wanted to make sure that all of the work was compelted) the sales department ignored this and deposted both checks and didn't even apolgize, just said no one told them, so that post it pad and the red circle around the date sayhing note postdated check was not enough to alert them to at least ask if there was an arrangement. I spoke with the owner who assured me that my sales rep had the authority to help me and that he would be my point of contact, only to then be called by Alec saying that wasn't going to happen and that I had to deal directly with him. The owner was bothered that I had complaints about his company, and really just wanted to make me go away and offload this to his staff. I am a small business owner and I just don't get that kind of behavior. The sales rep promised me monitoring credits since the first six months of service the only part of my alarm that was working was the door contacts, and he never returned my call when I tried to follow up with that. I have room for a bad experience and it happens all of the time and would not hold it against a company, but what makes a company for me is how you handle it when there is a problem. Since they've taken over I've had nothing but amazing service. The efficiency in response time to an alarm setting off is so quick I sometimes miss the call and they are already down my list of contacts. Today Craig Chapman came by for a service call, on time and within the time frame for my appt. they even called with an update letting me know he was on his way. I had a parking issue where I needed a car sited or towed. I called and got some RUDE customer service person, then got hung up on. I called back and the same person answered, tried to act like it wasn't him, and then tried to be MODERATELY helpful. Or at least give the impression of helping me. We were previous customers and my husband asked Boyd to come out and survey a new addition we had built so we could update the sensors. Well, after cajoling my husband into purchasing a $1,000 upgraded system, Boyd couldn't keep up their end of the bargain. The installation took longer than advised, showed that the salesperson, who met with my husband 3 times, miscounted the number of sensors, and after over 7 hours, left us with a non-functional alarm for over a week; despite the assurance of the installer that it would still work. I have had to make numerous phone calls to make everything right. Unorganized, incompetent and disrespectful of my time. We never had ANY ISSUES before Boyd bought Draganchuk. I wish we'd know the nightmare into which we were headed; we would have explored our options. read more

Very poor customer service. If you want to cancel they force you to keep paying for another 60 days. Very difficult to get responses to inquiries. When our business had a window pane smashed through no alarm went off. I felt my questions were very low priority for them. They do not use modern technology and I've had repeated issues with the alarm causing lack of connectivity for my DSL service even after adding a separate line devoted only to the alarm. read more

Good news, bad news. We had a small alarm service install and monitor our Santa Barbara home for a number of years, then they went out of business. We checked with other firms, had Draganchuk (Mr. Draganchuk, in fact) come out to give us a proposal. They said they could take us over with no additional charges or extra installations, and we were happy with their service for several years. That was the good news. Then the bad news. We sold our home and told the new owners how happy we had been with Draganchuk, and recommended that they continue the service. Then we called Draganchuk to switch the billing, and received a very snippy and condescending letter sayinng that we did not cancel within the contractual time window, and therefore had to pay for the remainder of the year. Plus, they would not let the new homeowners pick up the service at the same rate. Needless to say, the new homeowners did not want to renew the service with a firm having such an attitude, I can't blame them. Go with ADT I tried cancelling Boyd because we were going to be under construction for a few months and didn't need their security. They pushed really hard to put the account on hold instead so I complied. When we were going back online we got a quote from them for new equipment because our old one they took done went missing... they said they left it at our front desk and my staff must have misplaced the items... a huge box with a bull horn attached to it (that should have been the first clue, b/c I believe the y took it and disposed of it). Well the quote was really high and ADT was much more reasonable. Fast forward 6 months we get a bill for the first quarter of the month because they reactivated our account without notifying us after the hold was over... We don't even have their equipment hooked up we call to explain this and are hit with a cancellation fee and still on hook for 1st quarter payment. F***ing clown shoes. Never will use them again and will urge anyone I know to know use them either!! read more

I have never written a review , I hope it's clear and you use different company. Boyd bought Silver Security along with our 5 location account. We had a window shattered on Labor day 2019 while we were closed in the middle of the day. The police drove by , saw it, and went into the property setting off the alarm. Boyd security called that location and spoke to the police but never notified anyone at our company that there was a break in. So they have been collecting money from us and providing NO SERVICES since they bought the business. When I called and asked what numbers they had, I was given two numbers that they should of called but they never did. I was then passed on to the manager, Eric who felt badly but could offer us nothing. He also said that they didn't have the numbers just confirmed by their secretary that they had. So I asked for the owner, Mr. Boyd to call me back, he didn't. I then call Boyd again and my call was intercepted by Eric who said they could offer me a good will gesture of $90. Called and asked for a service on my security system. They took over for Silver Security. The receptionist told me that I was "not a customer". I explained that the other company put my security system in and I wanted a service call to get things working. She told me that since I wasn't a customer they wouldn't service my system. I said ok, what does it take to become a "customer". She said $40 per month in a monitoring contract. I said I just want a service call and not monitoring. She said "what part of what I said do you not understand". I asked if Robert could come out and I would pay for his time. Needless to say that was the end of the call. Very rude and inappropriate. This is the most horrible company I have ever dealt with, and I am now filing formal complaints against Boyd & Associates with the Better Business Bureau and California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Service, which is the agency that oversees alarm companies. I'm also thinking about suing Boyd & Associates for turning over a phony "past due" account to a collection agency when I never had a contract with Boyd & Associates in the first place. Yes, that's right. Boyd & Associates allegedly acquired my alarm company in Indio, Get Alarmed Security, and billed me 5 months after I had shut off my Get Alrmed Security alarm service. And they kept billing me, and billing me, and billing me -- even after I had sent a certified letter to the owner/President, Daniel J. Boyd, telling him to stop it. So, if you want to deal with phony billing and Mafia-like threats to ruin your credit or pay money you do not owe, hire Boyd & Associates. This company is even worse than the 1-star reviews here indicate. In my opinion, the company's owner and executives are the moral equivalent of pond scum. Boyd is a deceptive and unethical company. When I signed with them years ago they failed to inform me my contract auto-renews annually IN PERPETUITY. Additionally if you do not submit a written request to cancel by the annual auto-renew date then they hold you liable for the entire next year, even if you're moving. I just recently had a residential security system installed by Boyd & Associates in Ventura. I looked into different companies and Boyd (previously Draganchuk) were very helpful through the process of customizing a system that works for me. I think the level of Service is great and a good value for the price. The installation took 1.25 days and went smoothly. The technicians were friendly and taught me how to use the system. They took care not to disturb me during the installation and cleaned up each area they worked in. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I spent over $6,000 for Draganchuk to install an burglar alarm system and electronic access system in my commercial building. The alarms did not work when someone broke in through a window right in front on a motion sensor in 2012. The sensor never went off. The burglar stole 2 computers. The technician who came out to see why, said that the sensor was defective AND TRIED TO BLAME US. It had not been touched since it was installed. The electronic access system installed almost 2 years ago never worked as it was supposed to. We were given fobs that were supposed to open some doors but not others and some were to be master fobs. They all opened every door as though they were masters. They were incapable of fixing the problems. Technicians would come and go without telling us anything. Communications with the office were extremely difficult. I cancelled my Draganchuk monitoring service 2 weeks ago so that a new company could come in and re-program the fobs. Now they sent me a bill for 3 additional years of monitoring and a bill for $567 for a motion sensor which they had never billed me for at the time of the break in. All you need to do (which I failed to do) is carefully read their contract. It becomes obvious that they do business in bad faith and have no intention of standing by their work. read more

Massengill is the name of the "officer" that gave me the citation, yet every time I see the old man he's blocking traffic to talk to the same damn person!! After being a loyal customer for 4 years we moved and I canceled our contract. When I received my final bill, I had been charged a cancellation fee citing that I was obligated to give 60 days notice. They claimed that I was required to pay the remainder of the contract, but as a courtesy they would only charge me for two additional months of service. This is clearly an ongoing issue since along with my final bill, they sent me a copy of my contract with the 60 day notice highlighted. Obviously they have upset other customers -- or why else would they highlight this fact in advance. We engaged Boyd because they had installed the system for the previous owner. That was my mistake. Most new alarm systems can use your existing infrastructure so there's no need to stay with provider who is so out of touch. I wish I had known at the time. In short - caveat emptor. Their contract is unreasonable. Don't make the same mistake that I, and many others, have made. There are countless other security options in the marketplace with far more reasonable and flexible contracts. Find one of them. read more

Met Terry, the sales guy, and he was knowledgable and collaborative in finding a solution that worked for our specific needs. Good comms as well, always responded quickly to email. Then John the installer was on time, professional, courteous and again good comms re when he'd be done. Clear instructions on how to use system as well. Couldn't be happier so far, we've only just started with them but you speak as you find and they have been great to deal with. I'd say give them a shot as it could be that this is an occasion where people are using Yelp to take out their issues online. Time will tell but we feel good about our choice. read more

This company does such a poor job you will be pulling your hair out. 1st, if the receptionist answers the phone, you will not recognize the name of the company because she says it so fast. Next they will transfer you to the wrong person. If you do manage to get them to come out, they will not remember the login info for the system. It really is a false sense of security to have them since they do nothing but cash your checks. This is sad to say, but we have had incidents that they delayed coming out for so long that the tapes had overridden the info we were trying to get. A little background..... You know that commercial you see on tv about being put on hold when the woman's house had been robbed and the answer was "wrong Dept. Please hold"???? I lived that commercial two years ago. my house was robbed in broad daylight with very watchful neighbors that just happened to be gone for a two hour window. Someone was watching my house and I was scared they were coming back. The ONLY reason I lived that commercial is because my first call wasn't to Boyd. My second was. Within hours I had a sales person here telling me exactly what I needed (not what they wanted to sell me-trust me there's a huge difference). That evening a tech and two assistants came in and stayed until the system was installed. I didn't sleep that night for obvious reasons but I was so thankful for the team coming together to make it happen and how kind they were---not just there doing a job. Fast forward two years later. Had a service and who shows up but Ray! The tech who'd done my install!!! He remembered train wreck me even though I didn't remember his name. What I did remember is his kindness, his professionalism, his cleanliness, his dedication to doing a job well. Team Boyd is awesome due to the service provided by people like Ray. I certainly hope they know what a gem they have. Don't get trapped in the 800 nationwide "wrong Dept please hold" madness!!! If you want a good system with a GREAT support team to back it up. Call Boyd!!!! Update! 10/25 they had to come back to update the firmware on the panel. Ray had told me another tech would be coming because he would be on vacation. In comes John. I was just as impressed by him as I was with Ray. He tells me Ray says take good care of me. LOL. They go "above and beyond". Love love love this team!!!! read more
