Went here on a rainy Friday evening with my girls. It had stopped raining by the time we got there but were a little bummed out that all the seating was wet (except for the area under the shelter of course, but more on that in a moment.) This area looked very, VERY cool. Made out of shipping containers, or boxcars, each shop, eatery, or bar was not very big but used the most of their space. There was a lot of stuff to chose from, different things to eat, and drink, classes, soap making, even an escape room. It was nice to have so many options, we were all able to get something different and sit together in a common area. The sheltered common area was large with a ginormous industrial fan over the space. I imagine it feels awesome when it's hot outside but it made it a bit chilly when it was so damp. And the live music was fun but ultimately too loud for in depth conversation. Parking was easy, this was obviously very family friendly, and I would say the prices were not bad. We enjoyed our time and I think it's perfect for a group on friends that can't agree on one thing. :)

Fun place to hang out, eat a meal, and let your dog play in the park. Apollo and I had a great time here attending a dog friendly event, spending time in the dog park, and then enjoying a meal. Since I had my dog with me, I appreciated how several of the restaurants allowed me to order and pick up food while staying outside. Pagers are provided that light up when your meal is ready. Boxyard then has ample dog friendly dining areas where we could eat our meal.

Such a cool spot! This is definitely one of the most unique gathering spaces in the area. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and grabbed pizza, which was awesome, and cupcakes which we also enjoyed. There's plenty of parking, everyone's friendly, and it's just a great vibe. Check out their website for all of the monthly events!

My family took us here while visiting them in Durham and we loved it! Cool outdoor vibe with a nice big cover so it doesn't matter that it was raining. Love that were options for everyone. My husband and I got Lawrence. Best bbq we've had! There was live music and plenty of seating. As my eight year old niece Bella says: It was a great experience for the family. Good food and really fun. we also had some friends tag along with us. A lot of stuff to do. There was a little pond too. And there was a DND store like what .Good spot to go with the family OH and there was a music show. There were cupcakes pizza Mac and cheese brisket frostys salad .Highly recommend go there when you have time BOX Yard!

We came here to check out the drinks and restaurants when we came to visit our friend. There were a lot of people here and there's a central eating area that was enclosed on the top which helped with the rain when we came here. A lot of restaurants surrounded this area and definitely a great place to hang out, eat, drink, and enjoy. It was a good experience and they didn't have any live music but our friends said they had live music in the past. The parking lot was sufficient but can fill up. Overall, great place and definitely worth checking out.

This was a very cool concept and definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. The containers are placed in a unique way so that you don't feel like you are in a yard of them, but in a modular design that is very unique. They had live music and several places to get food (I will definitely try the BBQ), the line was long and the plates I saw come out looked great.

Fun spot to meet up with friends to grab a drink and/or meal! With so many options you can each pick whatever you're in the mood for! Many of the restaurants allow you to put in mobile orders so you just need to stop in to pick up your food once it's ready. There's a ton of seating both upstairs and downstairs.

    That's a wrap!

Loved this place! It was such a cute concept with shipping containers and live music. There are shaded areas and some fans to keep you cool as well. If you get too hot there is some inside seating in some restaurants and if not a great place to pick up food to take home as well. The variety of food such pizza, Korean bbq, dessert and beverage options is fantastic. I particularly loved how this place is very kid friendly. I would high recommend checking this place out!

A collection of shipping containers stacked and interconnected with catwalks doesn't sound like a recipe for a fun and engaging place, but Boxyard RTP, by its location and tenants, makes it happen. There are several good and drink purveyors, as well as a central courtyard and decent wifi and seating. On most nights, it's packed with people who have just left work or driven in for an event. I go when I'm not scheduled on Wednesday, because there is a great game meetup every Wednesday.

Such a cool concept! We stopped by on day two of the "Unboxing" Grand Opening in the late morning today. Excited that we scored some Boxyard bucks to us at the vendors! Unfortunately, not much was open yet, (everything opens at 11) so we'll stop by later since we live nearby. From what I saw in the directory there's lots of choices for food, drink, and more. Since it's mostly open air they have heaters stationed all around the seating area and the pavilion area itself is heated for these colder days. Once Spring hits I imagine this place will be really hit it's stride and be The spot to be in south Durham. What a welcome addition!

Very cool place to hang out, grab a cold beer and listen to live music, no cover charges! The containers all around were so industrial looking and sharp. It was even 2 storys so you can sit above or below. Some eateries to choose from (Pizza place was not worth the $26 so don't bother, try to BBQ place, that is what I'm trying next time) Very dog friendly and they even had an enclosed dog park outside on the side of the venue. Would definitely come back.

Really nice atmosphere and food is great! My only criticism is all the vendors are a bit pricy so just be prepared for that.

Ask the Community - Boxyard RTP

Do you have misting machines in the outdoor seating area?

I have never seen any in use. Given our high humidity, I don't think they would cool very efficiently anyway, tho.

They originally just had Lawrence BBQ and then Fullsteam opened and that is when this place really took off.

First time coming here, and I would give 5 stars if not for the exorbitant pricing. Adults costing…read moremore than kids at that, for a kids museum has always rubbed me wrong. But this place is quite expansive with several areas including wildlife, butterfly and insect garden, a train tour that takes 2 laps around (might as well get it for the $6 a ticket), and several outdoor play areas including a tree house and mist/water areas. Place was crowded, but there were still plenty of spaces available at 10:30 in the garage. If I lived closer, I might consider a membership to save costs, but I live too far currently to justify that. The cafe food was mid, and again too expensive. The pricing for me knocks a star off, but if you've never been and are prepared to spend a couple hundred bucks for the day on a family of 4, you'll probably enjoy!

There is a lovely wildlife area, butterfly garden, fun little train tour, an outdoor treehouse, and more. The price was quite high, but I imagine based on the number of staff and the animals that this location is quite expensive to maintain. The little gift shop was also great with lots of children's games, clothing items, toys, and more. If I was in the area I would definitely consider an annual pass. All of the staff were lovely from the train driver to the ticket takers. Fun location!
