First is the Mausoleum Row, a cluster of about a dozen mausoleums all erected between 1880 and 1910ish that is listed on the National Historic Site index. They overlook downtown Topeka and the capitol to the west about 20 blocks away and it provides a nice serene vista. Vice President and Topeka's favorite son Charles Curtis is buried here - VP for Herbert Hoover 1929 -1933. The highest ranking Native American to serve the US government, ironically graves of those that fought against Native Americans in the Indian Wars are also buried nearby. Many Civil War soldiers and veterans are laid to rest here also.
