The Wagners are very honest about timetables and costs. They are good about telling you what various options you have for parts, types of repairs, etc so you understand what the opportunity costs are with respect to time, money, convenience, and quality. They are also very responsive about looping customers in on communication with the insurance companies. I appreciated that the Wagners were willing to explain auto body 101 concepts to me -- they are humble and there is no talking down or condescension when repairs/car issues are being explained. On sort of a side note, by talking to Rob I learned a lot about car bodies and just generally got some bigger picture insight into car repairs, the insurance industry, and supply chain issues. The Wagners just come across as being very decent and thoughtful guys. And not least of all, the quality of the repair is fantastic. The car looks like new and feels new. Even though I live in the eastern part of the city of Pittsburgh and the Wagners are out in a northern suburb, I would make them my first choice for future big repairs. I recommend the Wagners in the strongest, most certain terms.

When my girlfriend picked up the car after the repair and drove away she noticed the camera in the mirror didn't work. She went back and asked one of the owners about it and they said "oh yeah, only the dealer can correct that issue, we aren't allowed". He was nothing but rude about it. I called a few days later to further understand why he didn't know up front that they weren't able to complete the job. He acted like they didn't know the mirror needed to be calibrated and basically lied to me that it wasn't known at the time of the estimate. Meanwhile when the vehicle was picked up he acted like they didn't even know. I would not trust them ever again and they don't deserve anyone's business. If i could give them a zero star rating I would but google requires at least 1 star to post comments..

Tim, the owner, may have a slightly dry sense of humor but what he can do for your scratches and dents or customization is wonderful! My father swears by this shop and after having had to have some work after an idiot rear ended me I decided this was the place to go. You can tell this place will take good care of your mechanical metal baby and has a passion for his craft. The free estimates are a god send. I have been places where they'll charge you $50.00 or more for them to even glance in the direction of your car, but not here. I had the opportunity to sit in the small waiting room, surrounded by hundreds of model cars and Thank You notes, while he made some calls. Tim was trying hard to find the proper bumper for a Beetle that needed work. Much of the search does take place on-line. The insurance company that took care of my car even sent an email to Blackie's informing them to look out for my business. The only reason I didn't give this business a 5 was because of the inconvenient hours. They close around 5 Mon-Friday. At the very least I currently have my dad nearby to get the car for me, otherwise I'd have to use sick time from work just to take care of my baby. But she'd be worth it.

My car had started to leak coolant, and I was concerned as I was visiting family away from home. I got there before they opened, and Mike came out and picked up the mail from their mailbox where I introduced myself as being away from home - and a long way to go with a leaking car. "I can't guarantee anything, since the parts may take me three days to have sent in, and I can't put you before my other 8am approintments. But if you can wait, and they don't show up, I'll move you in and have it looked at. No promises... but we can look at it... maybe." "Maybe" was me driving away at 10:30 in the same morning, after a postponed 8am arrival, two cups of coffee, and a quick diagnosis with a new water pump installed with a replacement belt. So Mike did get a cancellation, slipped me in, told and showed me that I needed a new belt (the old one was glazed, shreaded, and ready to fall apart), and had them delivered into the shop in short order. They even went as far as to check their work by running the car for a bit to make sure the thermostat opened up, and everything was good and tight. They even replaced the coolant, and washed off the spillage that had dripped on the engine and frame. I left Mike with a good contribution to their "Donut Fund." If they read this, please have a jelly one on me guys. Because Mike and you all are a great team. I could tell by the way you treated each customer while I waited in their waiting room. (Which had toys for the kids, lots of memorabilia, and good strong coffee for when the news isn't the best and you have to wait longer than I did. Bottom Line: They earned their Golden Reader's "Best of the Valley" Award for 2014 from the Times. Their gshop is busy, they do inspections, and I was very pleased to have met Mike, the shop owner.

I drove my vehicle to them for an inspection, and afterward I was given only two options: either pay to have my vehicle TOWED at my own expense, or spend thousands of dollars on repairs with them. The reason my vehicle could no longer be driven was because they broke a part of the brake system while working on it. What was even more unbelievable was that they refused to accept responsibility for the damage. I simply asked them to fix the part they had broken and return my vehicle to me in safe, drivable condition. They eventually repaired it, but I was still charged for the repair of the part that they had broken. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend staying away from this place. I also find many of the positive reviews difficult to reconcile with my experience.
