Love this family place! Felt like I was eating at my grandmother's house. Service friendly, food hot and save room for hot banana pudding served warm. Right In the middle of a not so populated area. But so worth the drive.

Oh my oh my oh my... I have been thinking about that, I mean, those hot dogs all day. Let me…read moreexplain my confusion in sharing my thoughts... I originally ordered one chili slaw dog and after inhaling it, I mean eating it, I ordered a second. (I had will power to leave after the 2nd one or I would closed the place down). The place is quaint and full of localness and charm. Be warned, there isn't a cloth napkin within 20 miles of the place. There are several rolls of paper towels and tear off what you need. My fellow Yelpers tipped me off to the kick the chili has. And kick it is. It is a slow burn that sneaks up on you. Fortunately, I had a smear of chilled slaw on top of it. The dog is a remarkable color red and the bun is steamed and it is wonderful! I ordered a side of onion rings- they were fried to order and while tasty, not the star of the show. My beverage was served in a bucket, 32 oz styrofoam cup with crunchy ice cubes. Again, wonderful. There was a steady pace of person ordering at the counter and the phone rang for pick up orders. And, as the sign says- Cash Only. The prices will not break your bank.

However, I also love great food prepared well, this is where Brandi and I diverge a bit. Located just north of Marietta square, it can be easy to miss, just watch for the railroad tracks that cross Church St. Parking as mentioned by others can be very tight, and you enter the lot from the right of the restaurant and circle around. My visit was at the beginning of the lunch rush, so parking was tight, but I could still find a space. Inside, Brandi's drips with history - the real kind that tells you that not much has changed in 20, 30, maybe 40 years. But it's not in that clapped out way, well worn like that favorite pair of shoes you've resoled three times and refuse to get rid of because they fit right and are so comfortable. Seat yourself at one of the handful of 4 top tables, or, at the 15 or so lunch counter stools. No menu is provided other than the one over the register - and remember, it's cash only. The menu is simple - hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, onion rings, soda, and sweet or unsweet tea. Grabbed my seat at the bar, and Brandi herself helped me. She, along with every single person working there were as kind and helpful as could be - a lost art for what Brandi's is, a quick serve place to grab an unpretentious and inexpensive lunch. Everything comes with white onions, mustard, and their chili - you can add cheese, or, ask for any of those items to be left off if you prefer. My move is to always try things the way the chef intended first, then modify next time around, so I went for the dressed up dog, and also a cheeseburger with the onions, mustard, and chili. Food was served quickly, maybe within five minutes of ordering with the four folks behind the counter working in that way where you know they've been doing this for a hot minute - everything and everyone in their place. Lots of regulars known by the staff - it's say the average age during this weekday lunch was pushing 60. This is where things start to slip a little at least for me. Brandi has kept things the same, including what ingredients they use. As such the hot dog is a red variety (hello red dye #3), and is a standard size dog (not a jumbo or foot long). White onions were crisp, the cole slaw a bit creamier that I'd personally prefer (but I found it worked really well like that on the dog), and then the chili. I was warned, as everyone is, that it is "very spicy". For my palette, I didn't find it to be particularly spicy although it had some zip that snuck up on you. I'm sure the cole slaw kept a little of that heat at bay. The hot dog itself, to me, just didn't have a lot of flavor which I guess is ok if the point is the toppings. It also was essentially room temperature which I found quite surprising given it was lunch rush, not sure if that was an anomaly or normal. But hey, for a couple of bucks, literally, I wasn't expecting a gourmet Snake River Farms Wagyu monster hot dog. This is where the price vs. quality index comes in to play. Now, the burger on the other hand, honestly, it was a mistake. I'd somehow expected them to have been griddle cooked and therefore have that well seasoned griddle char that so many old school flat tops in the hands of pros can deliver. This was a grey, not crusty, small patty that almost seemed steamed to me - if that's your jam, awesome, just isn't mine. As with the dog, almost none of the flavor of the ground beef came through - it was really overwhelmed by the chili. The hamburger bun was also kinda hard which I don't know if that's by design, or an indicator of buns that have been sitting around a while. Last up - fries. Reviews I'd read talked about them being crispy and well seasoned. Mine came out lukewarm and kinda flabby, and no hint of crispness anywhere. I might have ordered wrong as the onion rings others had looked good. Not much on the seasoning side either. So - all in, it had that very old school locals place with a lot of history to it vibe, and was nearly packed during lunch which is great to see these days with food and labor costs what they are for restaurants. On the food side, I'd say for the (very low) price, I'd go back and I know now what I'm in for. My tip off should have been the regulars sitting around me downing 2, 3, and even 4 dogs - no burgers I could see. And the staff - just honest, really friendly folks, working their tail off to serve up a piece of Marietta history. Had the dog come out hot, the fries been crispy vs. soggy, that would definitely bump them up a star. The burger, I'll chalk that up to my not reading the room....

To find this place, you have to go into the food hall at the Halcyon. Park in the parking garage…read moreunless you want to pay for a parking spot. It'll be the first stall you see in that food hall. It's an open stall service and they bring out the food to you but it's not your traditional restaurant style place since it's a food hall. Now lets talk food. I ordered both the Chicago dog and my own home town Detroit dog. The Detroit dog or to put it appropriately, the coney dog, is a basic beef frank sandwiched in a loaf of white bread and had a scoop of beef chili, onions, and some shredded cheese. The beef franks here have a very clear snap which means it's cooked perfectly. The frank itself is seasoned beautifully, the chili is cooked great, though it's not as messy as a Detroit dog from Lafayette or American coney ought to be. But it was flavorful and dirty eating as hot dogs normally are which in this context is a satisfying thing. My other dog I ordered from here was the Chicago dog. Considering I never had a good and original Chicago dog before, I don't have much of a context on how to gauge it and for what it's worth, the way this place does it seems to be spot on. I will say that there is a lack of celery salt on the dog which from friends of mine who hail from Chicago state that it is celery salt that ties the dog together and it's the thread that marries all the flavors together. This version leans heavily on the acidic soury notes of the pickle and the peppers (though there's nothing spicy about these peppers either) to offset the fattiness of that rich beef frank. Between the acidic pickles and peppers, the savory notes from the beef frank, and the mustard, there wasn't much of a balance of flavors as this version of the Chicago dog leaned more on the sour side of things. It wasn't bad, but the lack of celery salt was something I wasn't expecting from a place that offered a Chicago dog. Overall, it tasted good for a regular degular hot dog from Chicago and they made a valiant effort in it. Overall, these dogs are pricey. We're talking between two dogs you're dropping $15+ on them and you'll finish them in roughly two to three bites. Is it worth coming to? If you're willing to drive to the Halcyon, which is 30-50 minutes from anywhere in the Greater Atlanta area, then sure... but come also because you want to chill at the Halcyon as well...

It's in a food hall so where it's at you have free parking. It's a really nice building and it looks like it was a food hall building that won some awards for aesthetics so it's very nice to look at. You'll come in and there's nobody to greet you, but there are people walking around and people behind the stalls and you have plenty of options to pick from. And it's kind of a multi-room situation because one part of the establishment has a lot of the food hall stalls and the other part of it has a couple stalls, some rooms you can probably reserve, and a very large bar. They have plenty of specials on some signage screens so if you go in just be aware of that. They have events like happy hour and music being played on a live situation and some other thing so just keep that in mind. Anyway, specifically about the hot dog situation, I ordered and got a beeper when it was ready. I got it and it was okay. It seemed like it was more chilly than it was dog. And because I'm from Michigan, I'm very critical on what a Coney dog should be like. Do you want the hot dog to be covered but not drowned in the chili. So not that it's bad but as you can guess this got pretty messy LOL. I thought it was tasty. It's not like home but it was pretty good. When I try other hot dogs from there, I would actually. I definitely would. It was a pretty good experience because I got the wok and see what other places were there so that was nice. But I had to do the Coney because it reminded me a little bit of home LOL.
