Only tried the coffee- I didn't have my regular order so I feel apprehensive about making a review- however from what I had and my first impressions this place looked pretty cool and the coffee was quite tasty. I'm keen to come back and try the coffee again and also check out the food (there is a large seated area). Will update my review when I come back.

Bowery Lane is open at all hours - breakfast, lunch, dinner. I tried their coffee one morning and have tried the dinner menu. Coffee was so-so. I was lured into Bowery Lane because of the cute modern loft-style decor, with lush plants hanging overhead in the cosy coffee bar. Also spotted a Ryan Gosling lookalike in a smart suit sipping on his coffee - alone! Dinner - the coffee bar had transformed into a foyer / waiting area for diners. Up a couple of stairs was the dining space. Nice fit out with cute intimate booths on the sides and larger tables in the centre. The whole barramundi to share (serves 2) looked great and was filling, but it was very bland. I could have made that dish at home. Cocktail was nice, had a strong smoky flavour and came with a dried orange peel, reminiscent of cocktails served in 1920s prohibition bars. The sweet potato chips were not as crispy as I had imagined them to be and the sour cream dressing was plain. Serving size was a little on the smaller side. The side of greens were average. For such a great space, the food was a bit disappointing. They have a deal for shared dishes on some weeknights. Unfortunately even if Ryan Gosling was a permanent fixture, I'm not sure that I would return.. but I would walk past a couple of times!

    CHAR GRILLED LAMB RIBS $14

Located near Wynyard Station, Bowery Lane is not a place that you would drop in by chance. Within the lobby of a city-scrapper, half a level up from a barista area is an industrial themed dinning room. Industrial mostly because the pipes are visible looking at the ceiling. The sitting is cozy (the gaps are tight as cheap Asian restaurants). It was a Monday and when I ordered the NY Cheeseburger, the waiter kindly reminded me of the special: free beer with the burger meal for $20! Service overall is attentive despite them walking into my chair, it's a little too cozy. Some people complained about not getting attention because of being under-dressed, I think they have moved on from that as there was a guy in a NBA singlet and he was eating quite happily. NEW YORK CHEESEBURGER $20 (Wagyu, bois bourdan, monterey jack, tomato cos, caramelised onion with fries) The burger was the best meal of this visit, the free beer (on Mondays) is just a bonus. The beef patty has body to it, dense and cooked medium-rare. It is a classic done well, all the boxes were ticked: cheese melted, fresh and soft textured bun, good seasoning and condiments. Highly recommended. PAN-FRIED HIRAMASA KINGFISH $29 (Tahini, charred corn, baby leeks, pea shoots, sherry vinaigrette) The fish is cooked well, some of it was dry but that might be the way it was intended. The fish skin was crispy and delightful just as it should be. The garnish was a little uninspired and lacked freshness and vibrancy. There was also a lack of seasoning and distinct flavour to the dish. CHAR GRILLED LAMB RIBS $14 (Gremolata, rocket) The ribs were cooked to a succulent texture with a crisp outer layer which gave a distinct combination which is very enjoyable. The meat easily felt off the bone, but it is just too satisfying to use fingers to enjoy it fully. The greenery accompaniment did not bring much and again the seasoning was non-existent. Conclusion Bowery Lane is hard to find but has a mouth-watering menu for carnivores to remember. The concept of some dishes appeared more appealing than in reality and the overall lack of seasoning just needs to be addressed. If I'm totally honest, I would not go back if they did not have a good burger and that fact that I am still curious about the shared meat dishes. @thesydneynoob

    Tempura soft shell crab burger

We came here for dinner on a Friday night. It was relatively early and the restaurant only had a couple other groups in it. Initially the hostess told us there was a wait (huh?) and then said that if we would be done by a certain time, we could be seated immediately. That was fine - she was giving us roughly a 90 minute window to eat - but it was definitely unusual. I had the tempura soft shell crab burger and my husband had the New York cheeseburger. Both came with a side of fries. We each enjoyed our meal but it wasn't anything we would be eager to have again. The decor is a mix of modern and industrial. You enter on the street level and walk up a flight of stairs to the main restaurant level. I think they have some seating downstairs too but the hostess is upstairs. In the end, it was a decent experience but there are definitely better restaurants in the area that I'd recommend going to first. 3 stars.

I'm not an easily excitable person, but for some reason walking by Bowery Lane every day as it was being built got me excited. And for good reason - I have yet to find something Bowery Lane doesn't do well. Their coffee is good. Surprisingly good for a restaurant, and the takeaway shopfront they've got set up (with a few window seats for those wanting to take a few minutes) is nothing short of brilliant. Dinner here was delicious. The menu mostly consists of large and small share plates and sides, the type of trendy menu popping up lately that offers home cooked style meals. The pumpkin side was so good I recco'd it to a friend who told me they were going- and they wound up ordering two of them. Splitting the Wagyu entree, followed by the lamb shoulder large plate and pumpkin side yielded more food than the two of us could finish, and on the server's insistence we took the leftovers home and had enough for lunch for each of us the next day. I've been back for breakfast, and was equally pleased at the quality and taste of the food that came out. Even the staff are lovely. Whether I'm stopping in for a take away coffee, booking a small or large group, relaxing in a comfy booth, or enjoying a meal with a group, every staff member I have dealt with has been courteous, efficient, and accommodating. Welcome to the 'hood, Bowery Lane. I sure hope you stay awhile.

Wow this place doesn't disappoint. We were a band of five who were there on a Friday night. Greeted by an enthusiastic bartender we had a couple of cocktails prior to dinner. The smooth whiskey one (can't remember the name) went down beautifully and I'm not a whisky drinker at all. Very busy on a Friday understandbly. We went alacarte option even though the set menu looked good. There were heaps of food - croquettes and scallops for entree. Followed by the mushroom main, beef main and lamb main finished with the banana split, the chocolate and coconut dessert. The meal was polished off with a bottle of white and red. Thank god we were sharing and I rolled out the door.....

Half price cocktails (first round Friday) before 730pm, great food (the sauce on the wings and the cauliflower were stand outs) and the burrata melted in your mouth! Great service and cocktails. Would visit again for breakfast or lunch also. I wish I had enough room for the cheeseburger.

Bowery Lane is in the CBD at the circular quay and is great place for a catch up with friend or a date and you can go breakfast, lunch or dinner. Not easy to initially spot, you'd have to be intending to go there. I had seen some yummy pictures on instagram so booked to go with my friends for dinner. As you walk in, it has a trendy vibe, cleanly styled in black, wood and concrete with plants hanging on the walls. It was quite busy and the restaurant did very well considering the amount of people there. The menu is designed with snacks, entrees, mains and desserts S well as plates to share or banquets. The food could be described as modern Australian. We got some cheese croquettes to share - these were delicious. Then an entree each - the scallops (well cooked and beautifully presented), as well as the beef tartare. This was nicely flavoured with yolk and gherkin and two crackers on the side. For a main we got the ragu orichette with a mint and pea sauce atop. It was very tasty. We also got the fish of the day which was the salmon, also very good. You do need sides though with you main if you don't get entrees. Higher price bracket so this place is for special occasions but all the food is very good and nicely presented. The waitress was sweet and unobtrusive. Manager wasn't overly friendly but effective at her job.

Great breakfast, really good coffee. Pretty noisy mid-week spot that's obviously really popular for meetings and workers close by.

Waited over 30 minutes for food. Finally had to complain and threaten to walk out. They did give it to me on the house.

We did not have a reservation, but they fit us in as a walk-in at a small coffee table with 2 ottoman seats. Not the most comfortable set up, but I appreciate the cozy atmosphere, almost like you are sitting in someone's very posh and dimly lit den. All the NOLA classics were featured, like Vieux Carre (no likey), old fashioned (likey), and hurricane. There were some twists on the classics as well. I liked the newer house specialties, and ended up having 3 drinks, more than I intended. We snacked on some popcorn chicken, which was nothing special, but very satisfying when hungry. We were also lucky enough to be there when the live jazz band played a brief set, which really set the mood. I took off a star because not every drink was a homerun, and the service was a bit too impersonal for a speakeasy. We had a different server each time. One of my favorite parts of going to a speakeasy is to watch the bartenders work their magic and ask them for recommendations, and if I'm lucky, maybe get an off menu drink. Not quite set up that way here.

The photos in the entry way were super cool. As we descended down the stairs, it felt like we were going back in time to the Roaring 20s. It was a Wednesday night, so the bar wasn't terribly crowded, though it was still busy. We grabbed a seat and browsed the menu. After a few minutes, no one came by so I eventually got up and ordered at the bar. I had to wait nearly 10 minutes before I was even able to order a drink. I don't know what the hold up was, but the service was extremely slow. While I was waiting, there were some drunk guys who were pushing the hanging light fixtures. This went on for a few minutes and the staff never said anything to them. It was annoying and extremely off putting. Once I was finally able to order a drink, I asked for a Martinez. The bartender could not understand me. I think I repeated myself at least three times. I guess the way I pronounced "Martinez" sounded like "martinis" lol. I ended up pointing to the drink in the menu before he finally understood what I was trying to order. I know I have an accent, but I didn't think it was that heavy lol. I will say that my Martinez was well made and tasted so good! My friend had planned to order a drink, but changed her mind after she saw how long it took for me to get my drink. Luckily she's a local, so she can go back whenever she wants. If it weren't for the long wait and the annoying drunk guys, this would have been a 5-star experience. If you enjoy craft cocktails and have patience, go check it out.
