Bower installed an outdoor unit at our home in Pembroke, and installed the coil into our existing ductwork. They serviced our new unit along with our existing oil burning furnace for several years. 3 seasons ago I considered them a five star company. We used their 2x / year service plan. Last spring (2022), the afternoon before our appointment we received a call to see if they could reschedule our appointment. No problem, things happen. In the fall of 2022, on the morning of the appointment, I received a call saying that our service tech was unable to make it, and could we reschedule. I rescheduled, then the afternoon before our rescheduled appointment we received yet another rescheduling request. We had an appointment for service today, however, yesterday afternoon I received a request for rescheduling. I would have really liked to stay with the company that installed our HVAC for service, but the desire was not mutual with Bower Heating & Air. My feeling is that they are attempting to operate outside of an economically viable service area, or they are overextending themselves on appointments. Bottom line is this. In my work, it takes careful planning to get a day off during the week. A short-notice rescheduling of my appointment means I have wasted a day, and the others I work with have had to carry an uneven load for nothing. I have an unfair expectation that when someone says they will be somewhere, then they show up. Perhaps I'm the %1 of their customers who fall through the cracks of reliable customer service. Regardless, I can NOT recommend Bower Heating & Air for service work. I can however recommend them for installation. read more

I've had good luck with Bower over the years. Each time I've had them come out to service our propane furnace then in another house, an oil furnace, I've been satisfied with the service and the price. They've always sent experienced techs. read more

Bower Heating and Air Service Department is a joke! I originally hired Bowers to install my new heat pump and duct work. They did an ok job. After several months of extremely high electric bills, I contacted their service department who blamed me for the high electric bills. Several techs came out to check on my unit and could not find or fix the problem. I contacted Blue Ridge Heating and Air for a second opinion and their tech found a melted sensor in the heat pump, within minutes. He stated any good tech should have found it. I will never deal with Bowers and I tell all my friends, family and strangers to AVOID them!!!!!!!! read more

I originally had a service tech come out about a week and a half ago to service a floor furnace in a new house that we just purchased two months ago. After paying $129, I found out that he gave me misinformation by telling me to put a filter in the radiant heat floor furnace with no blower. I was advised at Lowes that if I did so, it could start a fire in my house. He also told me that there was an issue with the thermostat, but we found breakers off in the box. After the filter situation we were concerned as to how competent this person was. We then called to have somebody else come out at which time the service manager came out. We were told that we would not be charged a service call. However after replacing a thermostat with a digital nonprogrammable thermostat that you can buy for under $35 at a home improvement store, my bill was $175. I tried to get an explanation from the company, but was told that that's their standard price. I feel that we were completely overcharged for a heat only two wire thermostat to have to pay $175. More than likely we Will not be using this company in the future. I felt that the total thermostat replacement should've been no more than $75-$100, and that if we had not been given misinformation in the first place by the first technician telling us it was a two wire thermostat without removing the cover of the old one (which revealed three wires), and to use a filter which this unit does not permit, we could replace the thermostat ourselves for under $35 and not had to have anybody else come back out here again and charge us more money. read more
