After replacing the furnace still did not work and they could not find problem. I then called Goyette. They replaced the small exhaust motor and the gas control valve which was the problem. All these parts were marked up 200 to 300 percent. and total cost was$4170. The cost of a new furnace. A good example of corporate greed. The small motor runs 200 to 300 on amazon and Goyette charged 1,081.57.

We had Goyette in to change out the kitchen sink. He complained about his job the whole time and apparently didn't know about using tape to keep from gouging chips out of a countertop. That was Friday, when we called Monday about the damage, he had been fired. Sadly they sent him to our home before doing so. Then they were out 3 or 4 times to tell us they didn't have time for the job we called them for or they couldn't do what we asked (all asks are now done so...). Each time we were charged a service call. The last straw was when we hired Goyette to install a new toilet. They did a good job and one of the workmen told us if we wanted it taller later, just to call and they could come out and build it up. We decided later to do this. The gentleman came out, was surprised when someone had told us they could "build it up". He had looked to find out who the idiot was because that could not be done for our toilet. He came for the service call (rather than calling us to clarify). His stop in to tell us this cost us the large service fee, but he said once we bought the riser he wouldn't charge us the service all, only $50 labor. We thanked him and took Goyette off speed dial. The cost of doing business with them is too high. Nearly $1000 in fees to be told no or cause more damage than the job. Honestly, if Goyette is the only response during an emergency, perhaps having a pool in the basement isn't all bad.

When I have spoke to Jimmy and for him to come out and explain how much I would save and how much I could reduce the mean energy company from getting my money was worth the effort. To have him look at what the other companies were trying to sell me and being honest on what i should get this made tons of sense. I just can't wait to have them install my new panels and start to take control of my energy cost. I'm looking forward to see what the future holds. I would highly recommend them any day of the week. I will update once everything is done. So second update. The panels were installed on September 30th and it looks great. Jimmy texted me to let me know what time I should expect the installers to show up. He even informed me that he would show up him self a little bit latter in the day to check on everything. They started around 9am in the morning. They introduced themselves to me and let me know what they were going to do and what to expect. As the day progressed they kept me informed and also were awesome to show me what they were doing and asking if I had questions on anything. My kids were watching them through the windows and everyone was so cool that they waved and smiled at my kids. Jimmy even showed up talked to me and what was really cool was to see that the owner had brought everyone lunch. They finished up around 5ish and picked up all of there stuff and made my place look like it was when they left. By far this was a awesome experience with the owner and the crew. To see everyone happy and enjoying there work that they do is amazing. Thank you guys for everything you have done for my family. I will highly recommend you to everyone I know.

I yelped an electrician, and got 5 added quotes from Yelp. Darin, the owner of Burton HVAC, was the very first response, and he gave me a low-ball quote of $85 fixed rate. Well, they weren't rated on yelp, and had zero reviews. Their page said they had been in business for 19 years, and had electricians on staff, among others, so I decided to try googling the company to see if I could find anything else out about them. They had 5 5-star ratings on google. This being said, I assumed they were trying to increase their presence on yelp, by taking a loss on a few projects in order to get some 5-star reviews here. So, I decided to give them a try. I called the number given in Darin's response, only to be met with "Hello." It took me aback, and I had to ask twice if I was reaching Burton HVAC. I was, and Darin said he could come straight over! Unfortunately, it was a Wednesday or Thursday when I called, and I told him I would not be available until the following week. He could choose his date and time to visit, but it couldn't be Monday. Darin told me Tuesday at 1pm would work for him, so I put his visit on my calendar. He also asked me to text him my name, address, and the time and date of the appointment so he could add it to his calendar later. On Monday, I received an invoice via text for the services he was going to provide. I've never been billed before meeting the service provider before. And on Tuesday at 11:47am, I received a text message saying that my appointment at 1pm was 'coming up'. At 1pm, my son took our dog and left the house for an hour trying to get him out of the way during the service call. No one had arrived at that point. At 2pm, my son came home from lunch with our dog, and was surprised to see the fan still in the wall. I had not received a phone call or any communication from Burton HVAC at this point. I texted Darin and said "Weren't you supposed to be at my house at 1pm today?" His response was "Yes I was sending a technician your way and he should have been there at 1:00, let me see what's going on." Darin called me 10 minutes later to tell me his technician was working on a job that was running over, and he still needed to do another job after that before he could see me! He then stated that he would just come over himself to do the work. I said that would be fine, and then he told me that it would be another 2 to 4 hours before he could make it to my house. I clarified with him that it meant he would be arriving at my house sometime between 4pm and 6pm. Darin then asked if I would like to be kept in the loop, and I told him "Yes! Please let me know what is going on." Well, 4pm came and went, 5pm came and went, and 6pm came and went, and STILL no contact from Darin or anyone at Burton HVAC. At 6:24pm Darin texted. It read "Okay if it's not too late I'll be heading your way. That will put me there at about 7:30" My husband was home, and was definitely not happy with the way things were going, but at that point I just wanted the work done. I was not confident that the guy would be able to be on time on any other day, and I didn't want to waste another 7 or 8 hours waiting again, so I told him "We'll be here." And he responded with "On my way!" Well, as you can guess, 7:30pm came and went without word from Darin. At 8:04pm, Darin texted "I'm about 5 minutes away." He arrived by about 8:15pm... for a 1pm appointment. Darin and his co-worker were very nice. They were obviously having a long day, but still trying to do the best job they could. I realized after they arrived that (I'm 99.9% sure) neither one of them were electricians. They worked really hard to remove the fan from the wall of my house. It was in there good. Then, they just cut and capped the live electrical wires and dropped them in the wall of my house! An electrician would have known that doing that is a violation of building codes. My husband knew it, but at the time, I did not. Anyway, the two gentlemen both worked hard while at my house. The fan is removed. They even put a towel in the hole and taped a bag over the opening to keep bugs, etc. out until we can have the gap sealed properly. After they left, I returned a microwave cart to the area below the fan, and plugged it into the electrical receptacle there. After their visit, there is now no power to that receptacle. We now need to have another electrician come out to properly remove the electrical wires in the wall and fix the outlet for our microwave. I feel Darin bit off more than he could chew with my job. He needed to send an electrician & if one wasn't available, he should have rescheduled. Or perhaps he should have never quoted my job in the first place.

Total rip offs. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our furnace stopped…read moreworking and I called them. They sent out a tech who said we needed an entire new replacement on a 10 year old furnace. Claimed we had cracked heat exchanger. The options the tech gave us was he could fix the exchanger for $3,000 and it would take a week. Then he set up different levels of replacements. Starting from $8,000 up to $13,000. And get this. Was trying to sell us an upgrade package TO REPLACE OUR WORKING AIR CONDITIONER. We didn't have heat. We didn't care about our WORKING air conditioner. We wanted heat. So we declined the service. Called Bud's Heating & Cooling in Lapeer. They sent out a tech who identified the problem AND HAD THE PART ON HIS TRUCK and got it running in 20 minutes. Also the part he put on was a generic part. Two days later the tech ordered the correct part and brought it out and switched it at no additional costs. Now that's service. After reading the other one star reviews this sounds like this dishonest company does this predatory sales pressures all the time! Use Buds Heating & Cooling in Lapeer. Not these crooks.

Davison Home Services confirmed what was obvious: my furnace is ancient and needed to be replaced…read more No argument there, the tech was friendly enough, and for that you earn 2-stars. The problem is what happened next. They quoted me $21,000 to replace the furnace, redo venting, and a bunch of additional work wrapped into the estimate. I knew it would be expensive, but twenty-one thousand dollars for this job is the kind of number that makes you feel like you are being taken for a ride. Then came the financing pitch. They offered 15-year financing, and even on the low end of their interest range, that would have turned a $21,000 job into roughly a $32,000 job over time. That is not "helpful financing." That is a trap for homeowners who are stressed and just trying to get heat back on. The tech also told me that "nobody is going to touch this furnace," that no licensed company would work on it without major overhauls, and that maybe a handyman would be the only option if I didn't want to go with their 21,000 dollar option. That turned out to be completely false, less than 24 hours later I had a licensed local HVAC crew working on it. For comparison, I called a local company (Krane Heating and Cooling). They found the same issues, recommended the same solution (full replacement), and quoted $6,000 all-in including duct/PVC work. Same problem. Same fix. Not even close to the same price. My suggestion: research the company before you let them into your house. A quick "COMPANY NAME who owns" search goes a long way. If you want a truly local company, pick one that is actually locally owned. Davison is owned by private equity, not a local family business, and my experience matched exactly what you would expect from that model: huge quotes and heavy financing. I would not recommend them.
