Mr. Boutier, Ok, this man knows how to make some nice ass wine. We did a tasting but he kept making us taste other wines beyond what we paid for. I am a semi-sweet person and loved everything he offered. Just tasty good wines. He also has a bed and breakfast which I will be trying the BnB and tasty more of his wines plus he does ladies night with food and wine and dancing ooooolala. I will be trying Jazz night and the southern rock night. Really great place with a cool owner.

Wine tasting counter

We found this winery on Yelp when searching for a winery near Athens. What a find! We tried the wine tasting and then stayed for a couple more drinks and cheese tray. Pricing is reasonable and the wines are really good. We learned that this winery also has a B&B and plan to come back and stay. The owner Victor is very attentive and very friendly. Deb was helping him on the day we came 15/January 2022. She told us about different events that they host, such as live music. Both are good conversationalists and it made our visit even more welcoming. The place was quite busy from what appeared to be locals. I guess this is the place to be if you're in Madison County, Georgia. If it wasn't such a far drive we would go there more often.

We visited on a first date and were thrilled with the experience. The owner Victor, was amazing with a great personality. The wine is incredible! I have great knowledge of wine and I was beyond impressed! The flavor is unique in the best way. He has been awarded winemaker of the year and his wine has won 46 awards! The environment is beautiful. You know that the owner is extra smart because of his wine names. Make sure to sample: Diva'Licious, Hot Flash, Bipolar Bitch and the lovely dessert wine Rich Bitch. It was the perfect first date. There is a bed and breakfast onsite and events each night of the week. I can't recommend it enough. This would be an awesome place for a wedding or large party!

The wife and I have visited several times in the past. This vist was Black Friday 2021. We enjoyed the tasting as always. This time we meet Gail who was a pleasure to talk with. We ended up renting a night at the inn for new year and siging up for new years party. Just go and enjoy your time, you won't regret it. Great wine, good conversation.

My partner and I visited Boutier Winery yesterday after finding ourselves in the Athens area with nothing to do on a Sunday. Breweries were closed, we didn't feel like eating (for once)... what can we do on a beautiful sunny fall day? I came across the Yelp page for Boutier and thought, "Ok, let's give this a whirl." I was a little dubious because typically wineries are located close together, and this one is at least an hour away from the other GA wineries like Frog Town, etc. Boutier specializes in fruit wines, which I'm not a big fan of, so we tried their red, white, and blush wines, and snuck a few fruit wines in there too. I was very impressed! They get some of their grapes from CA, but they also use GA varietals. Good selection of riesling, chardonnay, many red blends (syrah, shiraz, pinot noir, cab, cab franc). I only tried two fruit wines- the GA peach and the peach jalapeno- and I really liked them! Probably not something I would drink a whole glass of, but even so, I was impressed at the taste. Their tastings are $1/wine and you can have as many as you want. They have nice outdoor tables where you can enjoy a glass. The owners are so nice and personable. They were setting up for a wedding while we were there, but still took the time to talk with us for at least an hour while we were tasting. I would return! Much more laid back and friendly experience than some of the other GA wineries I've visited.

The location is beautiful, and I think we'd have loved it more if the weather had been sunny/not rainy/warm, but with that said it was still a beautiful hillside (nice view of the mountain too). The setup is a little weird; it felt like the wine shop was set up in someone's garage and not really a legitimate wine shop. Their indoor seating was a little bit awkward and having a place for larger groups like ours to sit for a full tasting would've been appreciated. As it was, we had to crowd around a small bar table. The staff were friendly though, so overall it was quite a nice experience considering this is in somewhat rural Georgia. The bathroom setup is weird... again, didn't feel like I expected a winery to feel because the bathrooms are in a true 'outhouse' but they were clean. So that's just my personal preference. If the environment had been better suited to cold/rainy weather and had better seating options, we probably would've stayed longer. Not a bad place to stop though!

She personally poured each tasting and seemed delighted with our reactions, which informed her next choice for us to taste. Nothing was posted on their website mentioning this fact. We arrived to a deserted winery and after walking around to see what was happening, we were met by a gentleman who worked there, but said that they close every year for Thanksgiving week to visit their family in California, which is where we travelled from. On top of this, a couple weeks earlier, we met their daughter (Jordan Fiorentini, winemaker at Epoch Wines in Paso Robles, CA) and told her that we were going to visit Frogtown during Thanksgiving week, and she also didn't say anything about them being closed. But why on earth have us sample them when they aren't available for purchase? Oh, I know. Join their Citizens Wine Club and get them shipped. And that's the entire focus. They pushed the club to the point we were uncomfortable. Also, the educational push was much. Georgia grapes. California grapes. Swish. Don't swish. Aerate. Don't aerate. Don't refrigerate whites. Yada yada yada. Let folks enjoy their wine any dang way they want. Don't judge. There's no right or wrong. Food? Expensive, but excellent. A sandwich is large enough to split. But there's a $6 split fee because they double the side salad and chips to two plates. That's a mandatory up charge. The small cheese plate was ample. Wines & Food? 5 stars. The hype & push took away the joy of the experience. Unfortunate. These are superb wines. Enjoy them. Just avoid sitting at the bar and the lecture that comes with it.

Then, it was on to a semi-dry white (Muscadine). And, for the first time in my life, the sweet wines Blackberry, Blueberry, Plum, Peach Passion, Peach Shine {21% ABV!} and, Strawberry). All were absolutely delicious! And, had a few pretzels, too. Since I already have some Pinot Noir, I settled on a bottle of the White Muscadine, Blueberry and, Peach Passion (the Peach Shine has a "peachier" flavor, but at 21% ABV, was too much for me). What could be better after a hike on beautiful Yonah Mountain than a visit to nearby Yonah Mountain…read moreVineyards? A lot of things as it turned out. Although the setting is admittedly spectacular, acres of hilly vineyards with views of the mountain behind, and the patio was certainly fancy, the tables each with fire pits in the center providing cheery warmth, the tasting experience itself was sub-par and overpriced. It lacked the authentic feel I've seen in other wineries and seems more of a tourist destination. First thing I noticed is the shockingly high tasting fee of $35 for a flight of 4 2-ounce pours of their choice. No substitutions allowed! Either these are some spectacularly great wines or this is a major rip-off. I passed. But since I was here I decided to have a glass. I got one of their estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. It was around $16 but since I was here. It was good, but certainly not worth the $48 they charge for a bottle. For the $35 do you get individual attention, descriptions from the bartender about the wines and about their winery? No. You get 4 labeled glasses to take back to your table. Not worth it. Find another place less touristy, more authentic. That shouldn't be hard. There are like 65 wineries in the area!

"Wine enters through the mouth, Love, the eyes…read more I raise the glass to my mouth, I look at you, I sigh." William Butler Yeats With the beautiful backdrop of the rolling hills of North Georgia, Yonah Mountains Vineyards delivers real wine and real romance. Whether it's for an afternoon date, or a full out wedding among the rows of vines, it's hard not to feel love in the air. Great outdoor seating, both covered and uncovered, place you right above the beautiful vineyard and allow you to take it all in. Yonah Mountains Vineyards separates itself from the others by providing familiar wines such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay etc as opposed to the traditional Muscadine wines of the south. The wine itself is decent, but definitely not near the quality of the west coast wines, but all were enjoyable. I particularly liked their Genesis 12, a red wine blend, and their Viognier, an impressive white. Wine flights are around $60 with a choice between white, red, or mixed. Bottles run around $40-100. A little pricey for the product, but then again, it's the whole experience that you are buying, and it's money well spent. Yonah Mountain Vineyards strikes the perfect balance between classy and casual. You'll be just as comfortable in jeans as in a tux or a horrid bridesmaid dress. Cheers!
