Caprice Bistro has been part of our love story for years. We celebrated anniversaries here…read morethroughout our engagement, so after getting married, it felt only right to return for our intimate elopement dinner. We recently learned that the previous owners had sold the restaurant. While we certainly miss seeing them--and a few former menu favorites such as the lamb shank and pork dish--the new owners have done a wonderful job preserving the atmosphere and quality that make Caprice special. The Beef Bourguignon and Steak Frites were still absolutely amazing and remain two of our favorites. We tried the bone marrow this time, which was good, although we probably would choose the charcuterie next time. Our server was wonderful, and the restaurant thoughtfully accommodated our request to sit upstairs. Because our reservation was near the end of the evening, we nearly had the space to ourselves. They surprised us with two complimentary glasses of champagne and even allowed us to choose a song to close out our special night. Those personal touches meant so much to us. My only constructive feedback concerns the end of the evening. Someone repeatedly walked through the dining area making loud comments about needing to hurry, finish up, and leave. I'm unsure whether those remarks were intended for us to hear, but they made us feel rushed during an otherwise beautiful moment. My husband and I have both worked in restaurants, so we are very mindful of closing time and would never intentionally keep a staff waiting. We were already planning to box our remaining food and leave promptly. Since the restaurant was still actively being cleaned and broken down, those comments felt unnecessary and could have been handled more professionally. That moment aside, everyone was kind, the service and atmosphere were lovely, and the food was delicious as always. We deeply appreciate the effort made to accommodate us and make our wedding dinner memorable. Caprice remains a meaningful place in our story, and we look forward to returning for future anniversaries.

I highly recommend trying the crepe appetizer; it was filled with Gruyère cheese and mushrooms and had such incredible flavors! Everything we tried was delicious, and the drinks were so fun too. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to!

5 star plus! It was my partner's birthday and we were in town for an art show and were looking for…read moresomeplace special Circa 1992 did not disappoint! We shared a bottle of Whites Bay Sauvignon Blanc. We mentioned to the waitress that it could have been a touch colder (we like it icy) and after pouring us a small glass each she took it back to the blast chiller to cool it down more. It came back cooler and we put it on ice at the table. One of our favorite ways of eating sharing small plates. We started with a dozen oysters (6 from NC and 6 from SC). They were very good and the sauces that came with them were a nice compliment. Next was a nice arugula salad with some goat cheese. It was perfect for the 2 of us. Then came the "mains". We had Octopus with polenta. Not tough or chewy and the polenta was a nice compliment. Mussels in a nice white whine sauce were nice an garlicky and the bread that came with for sopping up the broth was perfect. Final "main" was beef tartare with a marrow bone. My partner does not like marrow so it was all mine and it was spectacular. Finished the night with a mini creme brulee that we shared. It was served in a little demi cup and it was just the right size bite. Our table was on the 2nd floor and it was a great atmosphere. Even though it was full, the room was not too loud that we couldn't have a nice conversation. Here is the best part. Our server, Nikki, was one of the best we have had at any restaurant. A little personality, just attentive enough and brought out our dishes just as we had asked them to come out. Couldn't ask for any better. Was our experience cheap? NO but if you have a special occasion or just want to treat yourself go to Circa 1992!

Live piano and some good food after a day at the beach?…read more Count me in! Located right in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington, We had made a reservation here for my mom's birthday celebration (alongside some other celebrations). When we first got there, we were greeted and led to our seats. As soon as you walk in, you hear some live piano music playing which was lovely. It was like elevator music, very light and mellow but beautiful, not loud at all so you can have normal conversations and enjoy your meal. Our server Katie was wonderful. She was sweet and attentive. We got the Tuna Poke Bombs and Salmon Rillettes and some bread for the apps, all delicious. The main courses were steak frites and Boar's Head Gnocchi coupled with a bottle of Cabernet which was really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce but the steak was cooked to perfection and the salad and fries were good. As for the gnocchi, though it tasted good, there were a total of 5-6 gnocchi pieces in the dish. So not filling enoug We got a cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake to celebrate and the cheesecake was wonderful! The cake was dry but the cheesecake was moist. Overall, a good experience!

While I wished the hotel had a free continental breakfast, I believe they made up for it with the…read morereasonably priced, and delicious, dishes here. The place was also very beautiful. I ended up getting the French toast and some hot tea for breakfast. The staff were very helpful when dealing with the tea as they would bring me a separate cup of hot water when I was ready for another round. They also had a decent selection of breakfast teas for me to pick from at will. I had gotten a tea at a local coffee shop yesterday afternoon and they charged double what this place charged, and I would still pick this restaurant over the coffee shop. Free refills of hot water is a perk too! I will be trying to find this brand once I get back to my home in Texas. The French toast was beautifully served with a kind attitude from staff. Very filling and tasty, but a bit dry. I enjoyed the meal but I would rather have gotten the buffet, that they offer on Saturdays and Sundays. I kept seeing the meals people were getting from the buffet and they looked delicious! If I visit Wilmington again, I will be trying that buffet. Main takeaway is: great food, great service, and great environment!

There was a marine ball at this venue and men in uniform with the women dressed so beautifully in their gowns hanging out before they went to their ballroom. We had a great quiet evening, only a few people at the bar that evening - I had the salmon dinner with potatoes and spinach and it was delicious. Our server was kind and friendly. We got the scrumptious chocolate chip cookie with the vanilla ice cream which she flash froze for us so it wouldn't melt when we walked back to our houseboat. And it was still intact and not melted at all when we got back. That was a wonderful touch. This was a nice place to go to for a nice sit down dinner with good food.
