Had a pleasant experience here buying a used CX-5. We first stopped by to look at it and found that it was having trouble starting and the rear, automatic hatch was not working. The salesman, Tim, and I concluded it probably needed a new battery. We called back to test drive and "talk numbers" and Tim said he had already had the shop put a new battery in it and it would be ready for us. I like that he was proactive. Both times we looked at it, it was detailed well and not dirty. I feel like some dealerships half-detail it and cars aren't as clean as they could be. Price was good and they were willing to work with us a little to get where we needed to be. Tim was relaxed and didn't apply any pressure for us to buy. He felt like more like our advocate during the buying process trying to get finance to agree to the price we felt was appropriate and worked for us. The first pass on the numbers included a "reconditioning fee" of almost $700, which should absolutely be included in the price and not a fee that shows up during the negotiation process, but they were willing to wave that once we told them the price we needed out the door to make a deal. We were in and out in about an hour and a half, which is not that bad. I have been at dealerships much longer and it's not fun. We had our 3 kids with us, so we just wanted to sign what we needed to and get out. Overall, pretty happy and would buy a car from them again. read more

heath our salesman was ok followed up with all our questions and alwas responded. didn't find him real socialable stricly business. rex our finance mgr was nice but tried to overcharge us on our agreed price and charged us outragious price for registration even though we were registration ourselves out of state. the charges were way more than the $6.00 utah charges. charged us almost $500 to what they called sterilizing the car. we gave them a bank check paying the car. the finance girl jessica was terrible. she sent our car purchase information to idaho where we were registering the car. she gave them an invoice telling them we have a lienholder when we do not. i contacted her about the error and she tells me i didn't buy the car my wife did and she needs to contact her. wife contacts her and she tells her that even though she has a check from us she wants a note from our bank saying we paid the lienholder off. we don't have a friggin lien. our bank said this is ridicoulas and this is a check from our account. contacted dmv idaho and they will register the car with our documentation. bm has a bunch of people including the sales mgr that does not care about their customers or being sure they have qualified employees. we want another car but sure won't be from this dealer. read more

I would not use again for detailing. They were very pleasant but had to ask twice to do a better job on the detailing. They complied, but I have done a better job cleaning my cars. First time I'd had a car detailed but it was more of a good vacuum job. Compartments were not cleaned, and back windows weren't washed inside. Online cost was less than we were quoted when we went in, and when we asked for a discount for having to be done three times, they brought the price down to the online price. read more

Had an appointment at their invitation for a free oil change for educators. They called the morning of to confirm my appointment. Arrange a substitute and take morning off to get this done. Get there (literally within 15 minutes of them confirming the appointment) only to be told they decided to discontinue the service and educators no longer get the free oil change. They invited me to still do the oil change at full price. Bait and switch! EDIT: they called me back and ended up doing the oil change at a later date. I just purchased a car from this dealership after some rotten experiences at other dealerships around the city. Part of what kept me coming back to Bountiful Mazada a couple times to browse was Dina. She was very friendly, helpful and very low key. I didn't get pushed to decide on a vehicle and she worked with us multiple times while I test drove vehicles and debated what I wanted to do. They do get dinged a star because of their insistance on adding a charge for some program that pays you if you vehicle gets stolen. They had no opt out option and you know that their CEO is getting a healthy kickback. Sales people we worked with never fudged any numbers, and were honest through the whole process. Service: Their Service department is so awesome that my wife and I are almost guaranteed to get our next vehicle from this dealership. They actually went out of their way to save me money when I got a nail in my tire instead of trying to increase their revenue by charging me for a brand new one. They definitely earned my business and I plan to get a CX5 from them in the near future, and I can honestly say their Service department secured them as my favorite dealership. UPDATE (4 stars): My wife insisted that we return the vehicle. We took it back two days later. It definitely was a no-hassle experience. We ended up not paying a penny for anything. The only reason I did 4-star instead of 5-star rating is because of the buying experience below. The experience of the return would definitely merit a 5-star rating. ORIGINAL (2 stars): We bought a used 2012 Toyota Corolla from Bountiful Mazda. This dealership contributes to the stereotype of shady, untrustworthy used car dealers. Garth was the salesperson who sold me the car. He was pleasant person to work with, but there were several trending actions that lost my trust of this dealership throughout the buying process. I admit that there were flags that probably should have warned me to discontinue to purchasing process or at least put in several hours of research into this particular car, but I mistakenly trusted the dealership as a replacement. The first signs of shadiness that began the downward trend were little actions such as talking around questions of services on that Carfax report that were performed at the dealership prior to listing the car. Garth was unable, or unwilling, to say what services were done on multiple Carfax services recently performed at his dealership. Another frustrating thing that I keep kicking myself for is that the key they gave me with the sale does not open the trunk. If you are familiar with Toyota keys, you'll recognize it as the Valet key. I was not familiar with Toyota keys, and when I asked him about the key, he said that it was the key that they received with the car. I would expect a trusted dealer to briefly explain that it did not have the capabilities of a typical key, like opening the trunk. Once the sale was made, Garth filled out the paperwork at a price that was about $2,000 above the sticker price. At the time I thought it was a simple mistake. After seeing the pattern of distrust that I experience through the process, I would not be surprised to learn that attempting to hide a couple thousand dollars in the paperwork process is a common practice. After we had finished with Garth, we then had to wait over an hour for 'financing' because they only had one person designated to do this process. Now, 'financing' is not what we expected especially because we were paying cash for the car. During the financing process, they hid an optional expense. Again, I should have been more careful to notice this. While signing all the different documents of required fees and terms of the sale he slipped in an optional shadowmark service for $189. Had I known that it would cost me $189 for this signature, I would never have signed. The design of the process was meant to hide this cost, and they got me. As far as the quality of the vehicle goes, I am happy with the car I purchased. Only time will tell if it is a lemon, but I don't have any reason to believe that the dealership is hiding anything. As a recommendation, if you are satisfied reading all the fine print of each document you sign and putting your confidence in the contracts instead of the sales force, then this dealership would be a satisfactory experience. If you trust the sales person to tell you what you are signing during the process, the I would recommend to keep looking for a different dealer that you can trust. As an added note: My wife and I recently bought another car at Kentson, I will say that we experience a much more pleasant, trustworthy process. However; I should note with Kentson I was surprised to learn about an extra fee of nearly $400 for paying cash for vehicles (I may be remembering that number incorrectly). After they advertised as being transparent with all the fees, I was disappointed that a new fee would be added during the closing process. read more

The service department is absolutely ridiculous, I will absolutely never be going back. They are always trying to milk their customers for unnecessary services. They pitched to me that I needed a transmission flush, and not ten minutes later, did the same to several other customers. Interestingly enough, the little tray they bring around showing the condition of the fluids seemed to be identical for every customer... They also did the same to my mother-in-law, and I refuse to believe that every single customer of theirs is driving around in need of a transmission flush. I took my vehicle in for service, and they were very helpful in resolving my problem, however I constantly had to call them to find out when my vehicle was done. Cost me a day of work because they were lazy. Also I overheard a conversation the kid at the parts window was having with another employee, and this clown was a total scumbag. Do not buy parts from them. He was rude to me when I asked him about a roof accessory for my Mazda 3. Luckily the parts are always cheaper online, so I would never buy from a dealer. Bottom line is this place is a car dealership, and by definition, they employ scumbag salesmen. I will continue to take my car here when I need to go a real Mazda shop, but I will also be looking for a mechanic for the everyday jobs. read more

She worked with me over email since I live about 35 miles from Bountiful so that I didn't have to keep coming in a bunch of times. When we decided we wanted another Mazda, we knew who to go to. Dianne is so wonderful to work with. She is very friendly and charismatic. She worked up paperwork for us quickly and we have never felt pressured in the process for anything, not for a car, not for add-ons. She even gave us some pizza because it had gotten late and she knew we had come straight from work and hadn't eaten. Truly a great experience, and we will be returning for future Mazdas. I traded my 6 in on a new CX5 in February. I was in that dealership for TEN HOURS. That to me is absolutely unacceptable. I was even supposedly working with some high end manager (fleet or sales I don't remember). Even half that time would be more than I think it should take. While the dealership looks good, the "appeal" for me is quite diminished. They still have their "Tires for Life" posters hanging up, but they only gave me 1/2 "Tires for Life". I feel kind of hosed by that too. Sad to say that I'm not sure I like the vehicle well enough to say it was close to worth it. I recently purchased a 2017 CX-5 from Bountiful Mazda. What's most interesting is that we never visited the dealership. I live in Carson City, NV and found the car using an auto website. They put me in touch with the dealership and from then on I dealt mostly with Weston Morrey who was very professional and informative. The only minor disappointment was that none of the paperwork for the cash transaction could be done on line. All the documents were sent overnight with UPS and had to be notarized. In comparison we sold one house in CA and bought two in NV and it was all done on line. We are very happy with the car and would not hesitate to recommend Bountiful Mazda to anyone looking to purchase a new or used Mazda. read more

Bountiful Mazda is great until you need them to do something they've promised you. When we purchased our car we were promised a free tires for life. One year later I called and set an appointment. First they said they would check the contract which they did then the appointment was set. I dropped the car off. Next they told me that because I haven't had the car serviced there the contract was void. It's a turbo diesel and in order to get the oil changed the fuel filter has to be changed in the gas tank and they said they could not do that. I explained that and was told they would call me back. One hour later they called me back and said they had re-examined my contract in the tires for life space was not signed. They probably erased it. They have no intention of honoring their promises at Bountiful Mazda. Don't buy there. read more
