Went here twice for a tasting menu and wine pairing. The service was outstanding as well as the expertise on the wine pairing with the meals. We went to Boulevard 572 in Kenilworth for the first time & had an outstanding dinner. We usually don't go to BYOs but made an exception this time, since their wine list seemed very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. For appetizers we had the excellent and refreshing grilled octopus & shrimp salad, with artichokes, olives, capers, & roasted red peppers. We also shared the mushroom ravioli stuffed with porcini mousse, in a mascarpone froth. For entrees my wife had the excellent certified Angus filet mignon with Danish blue cheese, roasted potatoes, baby carrots, & squash, in a red wine reduction. It was perfectly charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside. I had the outstanding, and extremely tender roasted Berkshire pork tenderloin, with shrimp & chorizo cassoulet, parsnip puree, in a 'mole sauce.' For dessert we shared an amazing dark chocolate and caramel mousse torte, over a chocolate olive oil cake, fleur de sel, and mascarpone gelato. So happy I found this place on Yelp! My family and I discovered this restaurant today and stopped in for brunch. Kids had pancakes which were delicious. I had the Duck which was perfectly cooked. I was so excited to try this place based on other reviews but unfortunately was left dissatisfied. We (5 of us) were seated for Sunday brunch and had waited 15 minutes just to receive water. This was just the beginning. We ordered appetizers which took another 30 minutes and our meals took 1 hour. The waiter never checked in or asked if we wanted refills for our beverages. We had to ask multiple waitstaff for different items. Food was good but did not makeup for the poor service. Luckily I had good company to make the time pass. The food was very good, the wine was perfect (I tried the Malbec), and the staff was amazing. They had a great assortment of cocktails as well. The grilled octopus appetizer salad was good, not the best though. The organic chicken dish was delicious and the short ribs were good. Josh, the manager, was very kind and helpful when an ingredient was added to the dish that was not in the menu description. Our waiter, Hugo, was so friendly and attentive and gave us information for their brunch. It was nice that the restaurant was so welcoming and I would definitely return to explore the menu more. I visited this restaurant for dinner last night. it was my friends first time! I love this place because im a repeat customer. I love the aged ribeye! its my favorite, I even have ordered this several times just to take out and majority of the time the service and my drinks are impeccable! this visit was not so much. I made reservations at 8, arrived on time and got sat right away in the seat requested, that was great. Well here is where it went down hill.... it took the server almost 10min to greet us, it would have been ok if we hadnt already knew what we wanted. so that long greet works for some. But we were hungry, the server helper came and pored us water. they presented us with cocktail and wine menus which was fine, then finally the server comes... He didnt even say his name, he asked what would we like to drink, I explained what cocktail I wanted, he brought me my drink and it wasnt up to par... what threw me for a loop is why do I have to ASK for top shelf tequila, why does this posh place even have house tequila??? but im a jose quervo drinker and I know what it taste like, I ordered a peach margarita on the rocks with a sugar rim... I asked the server does this have jose quervo in it he said yes, I explained that it wasnt and the peach was schnapps, I asked for puree. I sent it back, they sent me the same drink back with the cheap tequila with the schnapps still in it with the peach puree in it.. I walked to the bar myself and talked to the bartender and he saw me coming, and stated... "whats wrong with the drink now"!!! I disregarded that comment, all I want it the right drink, I asked him again was jose quevro in it he said and showed me the bottle, I said thats not whats in this drink and the peach is schnapps.. please re make it with jose quervo and the peach puree. second drink came out remarkable! how I know??? because Ive been to this place before and I know whats behind their bar. I felt little insulted. now the server came over to take our order and I had to ASK his name.. his name was vincent! Vincent didnt seem he was enjoying his job or happy to serve us. We felt pre judged! we shouldn't especially since I buy their delicious 37 dollar steak for take out, even back when it was 34 dollars!! Vincent did explain the specials but not in an upbeat manor, you would think coming into this place the service would be awesome like the server that was serving a table next to us. we said... " geez I wish I had him as a server"! he was engaging with the 3 women, funny and very personable. not like our server. lol the dinner comes and they changed the recipe!!!! the new recipe isnt on the main menu it had veggies ontop of the ribeye with mushrooms! !! I right away sent it back! im allergic to mushrooms... smh the manager comes over, very nice and fixed the problem right away even explained the recent changes and apologized as a manager should! it came out like the old recipe... with the sauce, frizzled onions and capers!!! YUMMIE!! the food is great! after that the manager came to check back and was treated much better after the manager got involved... was definitely not the best service for the money but the food is wonderful! please, hire happier servers and not try to con ppl with drinks by saying its one thing in it when its not. also with allergens please list those things on the menu or have your servers state changes to the menu and recipes...it was 3 star but I got mad again just thinking about it. so I give 2 stars. I usually look up diff places to go for Sunday Brunch and I came across this place. I read the reviews and saw it was worth a try so I booked a reservation for 2 through Opentable. I called the morning of to verify that my reservation had went through and whoever answered the phone was quite rude, I went on to ask about the brunch menu and he answered in a smug sarcastic tone and hung up. I decided to still give this place a try so my bf & I drove there anyway. We did the prix fixe brunch menu which we did not regret doing. That menu is $32 per person which gets you 4 items from the "things to share" menu and one entree per person with unlimited coffee, tea, mimosas, peach bellini's or bloody marys. We chose the fresh fruit plate with chantilly cream, ricotta stuffed crepes, brioche french toast and the mezza plate as the 4 items from the "things to share" menu & for our entrees my bf chose the Blvd steak & eggs & I chose the Long Island duck leg confit hash with poached eggs. We did 2 rounds of mimosas and 2 rounds of bellini's, I tried 1 spicy bloody mary but it wasn't my cup of tea. The serving portions were just enough and the prix fixe menu was so worth it. The wait time was quite short and the service was pretty good, overall is was a great experience. I will def recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to go out with your significant other or in a group. I will surely be going back. read more

Boulevard Five72 had been raved about by a bunch of co-workers and friends, and especially by Zagat (rated 27/28 for food -- 11th ranked overall in NJ). I decided to make Valentine's Day reservations here for my girlfriend and I, and let me tell you -- the place is SPLENDID. The ambiance inside is dimly lit, spacious, and DEFINITELY classy. The entire place has a wine-bottle vibe to it, as any table you're seated at is surrounded by old-school wine holders finished in a nice wood. The tables are all candle-lit and you have PLENTY of real estate to enjoy a meal with. I booked this with OpenTable, and they actually gave me what I requested -- THE MOST ROMANTIC TABLE IN THE JOINT. A cozy table for 2 in a sectioned off room near the entrance. The prices were there, but what else do you expect from such a high-quality place. ($25-35 per plate). They specialize in seafood entrees, which were terrific. i had the Carolina Shrimp with a clam sauce and tomatoes and arugala and my girlfriend got the Striped Bass which was also extremely tasty and done well. The service was great -- prompt, friendly, and had some great specials on Cod when we went there. They also gave us some free truffles after the meal (milk chocolate, lightly salted with a caramel filling -- tremendous). My wife and I came here on a Saturday evening. We made reservations via OpenTable. Our reservation was for 7pm and we were seated right away when we arrived. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty when we were seated. But within an hour, it was packed. It was also very noisy with people having to shout in order to be heard. This is primarily due to the acoustics in the place - they should consider more dampening material along the ceilings. We were given a butter squash amuse-bouche to start, which was fantastic. It had a deep savory base resulting in an impactful taste. The bread rolls were decent, but not warm. I started with the lump crab salad that had mango and avocado ($14). It was very good. My wife started with the yellow fin tuna tartar with tomatoes and egg ($14). She thought the amount of tuna served was not worth the price. But it also tasted very good. I had a special - braised lamb shank in a red wine reduction, along with parmesan risotto and a bed of spinach ($26). It could have had more flavor, but it was very tender. Overall, a very good dish. My wife had the seafood risotta with lobster, scallops, and shrimp ($38). It was pretty good, but we've had better. There were large cubes of garlic, which we didn't like. The menu had a good mix of different appetizers and entrees, and there other items we would like to try. Price-wise, we thought it was ok. Service was very good. At least once a week since then we've stopped in for drinks and appetizers which are consistently AMAZING!!! And Sunday brunch if we could get in.. We Lucked up twice and we were able to grab a seat at the bar and enjoy brunch. You definitely need to make reservation! We finally decided we needed to have dinner after coming here weekly for months... We were not disappointed!!! Very good restaurant with excellent service. We hadn't thought of Kenilworth as a dining destination, but a quick look at reviews on Yelp showed a number of potential targets. A glance at the Boulevard Five 72 online menu revealed a number of interesting dishes, so we gave it a shot. We were not disappointed. We were seated at our table quickly and immediately offered water and bread. Our server showed up soon after with menus and to take drink orders. The timing was perfect - not hurried but efficient. After drinks arrived we heard about specials and asked some questions about the menu. While the waitstaff is generally young, they're obviously well trained. Our server had a good grasp of the menu and was able give helpful input on which of several options to try. We started with the corn and shrimp chowder and the endive and granny smith apple salad with beets. The soup was a top 5 ever - chunky and rich without being heavy. The salad was also very good, though it could've used a few more beets and a little less apple for our tastes. We had two specials for dinner. My wife chose an almond crusted cod over mashed potatoes with a tomato and clam broth. Not a preparation you see every day, and it really worked. The fish was light and moist with a nice crust, and the broth was subtle yet appropriately "clammy". Maybe could've used a touch more salt to bring out the flavor. I had a venison loin that was perfectly medium rare with a wine reduction. The sides were spectacular - an asparagus risotto was creamy and filled with asparagus. The red cabbage was very, very good, though the portion was disappointingly small (maybe 2 heaping tablespoons). I don't expect huge portions, but I think the sides should be proportional to the protein. We finished off with deserts including the sweet potato crème brulee (very good) and maple walnut gelato (good). Overall, I'd give it a 5 for service, 4 for food and ambiance. It's not cheap - we got out for $180 including drinks and tip for two, but Boulevard Five 72 mostly meets the expectations for that price point. read more

Once again we had an excellent dinning experience. We were here last night celebrating our anniversary as usual and I love it more and more each time I dine here. Boulevard is flawless ... I had the Pecan Crusted Lamb Rack, it's what heaven would taste like to me! it was a perfectly cooked medium rare, juicy, melt in your mouth. The sauces and mushroom risotto that accompanied the rack were also delicious.Best thing Ive had here so far. My husband had the Cavatelli & Pulled Braised Short Ribs, I had a bite and it was delicious also. Full of fresh flavors and the the meat was super tender. Appetizers we always get the pumpkin ravioli (that was an app we severed at the wedding reception we had here) and the foie gras, which you simply must have! Desert we had banana chocolate pudding and fresh fruit w/ homemade sherbert. Both once again just amazing. Quite possibly the most inexpensive but highest of qualities brunch places I have ever been to. With tons of places in NYC and Hoboken offering brunch with unlimited mimosas the cost can easily hit over $80 but not here. Cost is 25 a person and the sheer amount of food and drinks will keep a party of any size stuffed. The ambiance is beautiful and service top notch.
