I started allergy shots 6 months ago, with no particular problem, and have reached the point of "maintenance" shots. I had never gotten a prescription from Drs. Gupta, or Newman. Dr Newman prescribed me a med, and I asked him to send my prescription to CVS on Pearl. I told his assistant at the front Desks to make sure that they updated my records that my pharmacy was CVS on Pearl. They set my prescription to Safeway on 28th. read more

Let's start with the doctor: Dr. Menich is caring, thoughtful, and listens to his patients. Why a bad review? It is impossible to actually see Dr. Menich when the staff never answers the phone and fails to return messages. I was committed to returning to have him evaluate our allergies after a few years and to consider the option of getting shots and maintenance for at least two members of our family. Over nine months, I made more than a half dozen calls and left messages. I can believe one might be overlooked but at this point it is obvious the office just can't be bothered. I am glad to have found a similarly capable allergist at BMC for our family and they have staff that actually answers the phone and wants to take care of patients. Stay away if you value consistent office support which is really necessary to even see the doctor. read more

If you at all, have a busy schedule or value your time do not go here. I have two boys, obviously very busy getting them to school mornings, I was five minutes outside their "15 minute late" window this morning to my very first appointment. And literally, they said nope. The doctor won't see you. Her schedule is just "too busy" for the rest of the day you have to come back another time. Mind you it took 2 months to get this appointment in the first place. I love how they treat HER schedule as so important and so efficient that she can't run 5 to 15 minutes behind (or just shorten my appointment. I was fine w that). But MY time is so worthless that I could just drive back another day. Like I don't have other things to do. For the record doc. I'm a mom and a real estate investor. So My time is LITERARLLY and figuratively WORTH MORE than your time. So sick of Doctors still having this God complex like they're so important. And the rest of us are just little minions there to overpay for 15 minutes of their time. And let's be honest. If I was on time, but the doctor was running 30 minutes late, they just make you sit there and wait. I am so sick of this double standard. That we are just there to serve them and they are not here to serve us. Being a doctor is a business like any other. They should remember that. But I will say I am smiling as I drive away now, (oh yeah, I wrote this in the parking lot because apparently I had all this extra time for the appointment I didn't have ;) lol I'm smiling because I can't wait that within five years AI it's gonna take their jobs. Let's be honest when you're an allergy testing doctor, you can literally be replaced by an AI checklist of symptoms and a blood test. So go ahead. Be rude to everybody and treat them like your time is so important and they can just be pushed around. When you're unemployed in five years, you'll have plenty of time to work on yourself in therapy. I have had allergies and asthma my whole life and over the course of the last 40 or so years, have been hospitalized over a dozen times for anaphylaxis. Having lived in several different cities, I have seen a number of allergists and visited a number of offices on a frequent basis. Dr. Menich and his team of skilled nurses are very knowledgeable, caring, and honest. They always take time to make sure I understand procedures or new medicines and answer any questions I have. I have also taken my kids here for help, my son has some food allergies that he has grown out of with the help of this clinic. Can't recommend enough. read more

The staff is horrible and rude. I went to have my shot couple weeks ago and since we are change it viles I was asking the frequency of my shots and the stuff said to me that I asked the same question every time I get my shots in a very rude tone which it was not true I only asked then when my viles change colors but even if is true they should be able to answer my questions since is part of their job and they charged my insurance 40 dollars every time I get the shot. No wonder they have bad reviews about their stuff. Avoid this place. No worth it read more

I've been coming here for 3 years and was shocked at the 3 star rating. It's BS based on my experiences over 3 years. Both the medical and office staff here have always been great, and gone above and beyond what I could hope for. e.g Right now the office staff at my family doctor's practice are being incompetently difficult about sending us a simple referral. Netty from BVA&A has been fantastic in her patience and follow up to get it taken care of on my behalf. Also, my symptoms are 95%+ better than before I started shots at BVA&A. The physicians are great but the billing department is big in surprises. There's a real issue with communications between the physicians and the billing department. The first surprises were the cost of the allergy tests, which they could have explained prior to taking the tests. When I originally asked about the price for serum, I was told that I could break it up into weekly payments, with each week coming up to $58 and some change, but when I was actually billed, they billed me $1,286 as one lump sum payment. In addition, when I asked when I could schedule my shots they were caught off guard. My physician told me I could do clusters, but when they gave me a shot it was as a buildup. I eventually stayed with the buildup because clusters cost more and having $1,289 was enough for someone with panic disorder that couldn't even breathe at 2AM in the morning and is working with a bankruptcy attorney. Fortunately, they were able to work with me so I could afford the payment. Good luck budgeting for this one! This is emergency savings city. I'd only recommend it to millionaires. read more

Dr. Menich has been great for my allergy and asthma needs. Easy to schedule appointments, and the office staff tried their best to meet my scheduling needs. One exceptional quality about this physician is that he actually spends time with you to try and find solutions for your issues. Met with Dr. Menich to discuss both seasonal allergies and another possible allergic reaction I have happen (VCD). He spent the first 15 minutes of the consultation just listening and asking the occasional question. I greatly appreciated that he took the time to truly listen to what I felt was going on before suggesting possible next steps and doing the allergy testing. When I left, I was armed with a lot more data points, multiple printed documents to help, and options for next steps with no pressure from Dr. Menich other than him wanting to solve the problems I've been experiencing. read more

My son and I were seen in November, just after a move, in hopes of continuing our monthly allergy injections. I had spoken with the office in September to try to make the transition smooth. Upon arrival both my son and I were retested. I was told that they would mix the serum and give me a call when it was ready. My son was sent for blood work. It's April and I had to call them to find out what in the world was going on and why we haven't heard back from them. For me, I'd now have to restart shots at once a week, which I was trying to avoid by getting everything set up back in the fall. I have been on maintenance for two years and don't want to start over. For my son, he still tested very allergic to bees and he will have to start over with injections after being on maintenance for two years! What a pain. I worked really hard to avoid this. I've been plagued with almost constant hives for about two years. I tried my family doctor, two dermatologists, and another allergy doctor before seeing Doctor Menich. I wanted to have a food allergy test run because the environmental allergy test showed no reactions. In the initial consultation, he convinced me that a food allergy test would provide no benefit and would be a waste of money. He also requested my lab results from my family doctor so he wouldn't have to have them run again. He put me on an antihistamine regimen that almost eradicated my hives in less than a week. At the follow-up visit, he gave me further advice on what to do if it started coming back. He said no more appointments were necessary and to call if we ran into anything else. I visited Boulder Valley Asthma and Allergy for chronic bronchitis issues that seemed to be connected to exercise induced asthma. After the usual waiting around well beyond the appointment time to be seen by anyone, I was given breathing capacity and blood oxygen tests. I mentioned that I already had these results from a visit to a different doctor. They insisted on repeating the tests there. I mean, why not tack on another +$100 charge? I then saw Dr. Menich. After chatting for maybe 5 minutes, Dr. Menich quickly gave up and later charged +$200 for this office consultation. My case had stumped this supposed specialist and he didn't seem terribly interested. From my perspective as a patient, this is an issue I've been dealing with for years --- I tend to get bronchitis about 3 times annually --- and here I am seeing a specialist who refuses to really work with me on this. Dr. Menich told me, "I want you to come back when you're really sick so we can solve this problem." I was currently on antibiotics for bronchitis at the time of the visit, so I'm not sure how much more sick he wants me to be... Dr. Menich made no suggestions besides that. He then said that we may as well do an allergy test, "just to be on the safe side" -- of course he knows this is another +$450 in the bank. I go into the adjacent room and wait around while listening to the entirety of the consultation between Dr. Menich and his next victim through paper thin walls. They do the allergy test and send me on my way. I leave with no new insights and having racked up $800 in expenses from maybe a total of 10 minutes of face-to face time. read more

I have never been to such a horrible health facility before. It first started when I got my skin testing and the lady performing the testing came in and cursed when she saw the reactions I had she was very unprofessional. You could hear her flirting with another male employee while instead of doing her job. when I gave her my insurance she kept screwing it up. it took over a year to clear up her mistakes with both my insurance companies. In addition I had to update my address I did that several times but never received a bill after a year of updating my dress at least 7 times I got sent a bill. i was suggested to start allergy shots but I didn't trust this health facility anymore so decided to try a new allergist. thank god I didn't get the shot the new doctor told me they would of killed me because of how poorly my body was doing due to the server reaction I had been dealing with for two years. when switching allergist I sent all the forms and called the doctors office to get my forms transferred. over three months ago!!! they have yet to send it my new allergist keeps calling them and sending over the. fax information needed to get my records but they refuse to answer. do not go here if you want the proper care and to be treated. in a professional way. read more

I've been here three times (all for the same problem). The staff was nice and friendly, and I didn't have to wait more than ten minutes each time. I had to get an allergy test, which was surprisingly quick and painless - they do the prick/scratch test rather than the injection test (which I've had before), and the prick test is much easier. It took about five minutes for them to do the pricking, which barely hurt at all, and then I had to wait maybe half an hour to see how I reacted. Although my problem turned out to not be allergies, I thought Dr. Menich did a good job going over the possibilities and treatment options with me. I was pretty annoyed when he charged me for my last office visit (where he didn't even examine me, he just told me there was nothing more he could do and referred me to an ENT). But after I called them and spoke to a very nice lady in the accounting department, he agreed to remove that charge. read more

The worst doctor's office we have ever been to. They misplaced my son's immunotherapy serum (in their own office) that was mailed to them from our doctor in our home state. It took months of calls from our doctor's office and from us before they finally located the serum (that was delivered) in their own office. They were not sorry - they said it was just human error. Well, their human error cost us a lot of money and time and effort. My son had to start his allergy injections over from the beginning. Additionally, my son was supposed to get two shots from two different serums. They couldn't even manage that. Evidently they can not read doctor's typed instructions either. Completely incompetent staff! Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else! read more

Dr. Menich seem like a knowledgeable Doctor- I had never been to an allergist before. Met with the Doctor explaining how miserable I was thinking it was pollen or something related. Since the doctor does not draw blood in his facility he sent me to my primary care physician to have blood drawn - he explained the results would take two weeks and would call me to discuss the results. After not receiving a phone I called the office- One of his staff pulled my chart and stated No allergies! I told her Dr.Menich said he would call me to discuss the results and to please have him Call me- that didn't happen- since my visit have seen my eye doctor and primary care doctors regarding severe allergy issues. I called Dr. Menich office today and ask for the Doctor to PLEASE CALL ME- the extremely rude receptionist told me the doctor does not have time to call his patients and if I want to discuss anything with him I need to make a second appointment. A DOCTOR THAT DOESNT HAVE TIME TO TALK TO HIS PATIENTS - after an expensive Ofice Visit!!! I have filed a complaint with the medical board ... I've notified by insurance company... And have stopped payment on my co-pay to this medical practice... This doctor should be ashamed of him self . read more

I have been many allergists and most have been good experiences. However, I had a rough time with Boulder Allergy and Asthma and would never set foot in their office again. Beware of the up charging, unnecessary procedures, and shady billing practices! THE STORY: I was only in there 1 time to get a prescription refill for my inhaler. The doctor wanted me to do some breathing capacity test. I said I have a spirometer at home, use it all the time, and it wasn't necessary....... but the doctor insisted. The test took 2 min and (as I later found out) cost ~$75 above and beyond the office visit. The test indicated my lung function was awesome (which I already knew), and he gave me an inhaler prescription. He also campaigned for me to do allergy shots even though there was no reason for it. Turns out my insurance company wouldn't cover any of the office visit expenses even after we had a conference call between myself, CO health-op, and Boulder Allergy and the insurance company promised to cover everything. Boulder Allergy denied ever having that conversation. Then my health insurance company went bankrupt (CO Health-Op). So I was stuck with the bill. I asked Boulder Allergy to remove the breathing test charges because it was completely unnecessary and they never told me that tests cost extra. They refused. They said they needed the test to confirm my inhaler prescription. I pointed out to them that the breathing tests were awesome and asked why the doctor then gave me the prescription. The billing lady just kept repeating "that's our standard of care" like a robot pull toy. They said I could apply for a hardship discount. Let me tell you want that means. You spend a couple hours on the phone getting the run around between the doctor/billing office/ corporate, spend an hour or so typing a letter explaining your life circumstances, and another hour to run it across town to their office. After all that, they begrudgingly offer a 10% discount. By my calculations, that works out to ~$4/hr or ~$2/hr after travel expenses. As if they hadn't screwed me over enough already. It's obvious to me that Boulder Allergy sees their customers as cash piñatas and are looking to whack and hard and as often as possible the minute you step in the door. Had never been to an allergist prior to this clinic. years of working with General Practice doctors with no relief.... Went in to see Dr. Menich with one of my daughters about 1.5 years ago. We both tested allergic to grass, tree pollen, dogs, cats, dust mites. They tailored the serum for each of us. We started with the weekly shots and graduated to monthly maintenance dosage in about 3 months. The past year has been wonderful! Both of us have been able to enjoy outdoor activities and have breezed through the worst allergy seasons without the typical itchy watery eyes, sneezing etc. Should have done this 20-30 years ago.
