I am a long-term resident in Boulder and have had no issues with Parking Services until this last year. Last fall, they had me buy two parking permits within three months (so $100) due to switching systems and not informing me that was happening. I would have gladly waited until the system was changed to purchase my pass, but alas I had purchased two. This year, now with pass expiring, I asked if there was anything to be done. One of the staff treated me like I understood nothing, when I provided proof of the $100 being taken out of my account and paid for. Then she stated she "didn't want to deal with this anymore". "This", being me, the customer and Boulder resident trying to find a solution. I was left with my only option to pay more for their mistake in not informing new residents they were switching their system. So now I am left with paying $151.50 for two years and no help from the parking services team. Of course, I was not expecting a free permit for this year but was wanting to see if there was some sort of discount that could be offered. As a Boulder resident, I am more appalled by the lack of respect I received when I asked for understanding and help. There was one woman of the three I spoke to who was helpful and new to the team. Always so many eateries to enjoy in the area and very nice floral displays that are seasonally planted. Remember, the Pearl Street Mall is not just for tourists it's a great spot for locals too. Another current favorite is Rincon Argentino, the best empanadas around and luckily for me, they are not fried, so much healthier and authentic to have the high heat baked style. See that review too. Grandrabbits, still the best wonderful carefully curated toy store in town. Though unfortunately we do not need them as much as in the past, as not only have our children gotten too old for most items, even our grandchildren have gotten beyond most of their range. But always nice for that special gift for any child. I used PakMail just the other day. Great for specialty shipping needs (which I did a few times) as well as supplies for do-it your self types like me. And though I have not been recently to Wood Grain Bagels, the French Cafe or Great Harvest Bread, Vitality Bowls, Brewing Market, they are appear to be thriving. Same for Sprouts. Also, Osakas, for Japanese fare which opened just before the pandemic but was enjoyable before as well as recently. Glad they could make it through the last few tough years. Check those reviews too. Sadly we lost a really great place at the beginning of the pandemic, wonderful Zolo Grill where we ate countless meals since its opening back in the mid 90's. But Big Red F Group still maintains several other options here in Boulder as well as elsewhere. They sure have grown. The old Boulder Ski Deals has been replaced by Epic Mountain Sports which I have not had a need to use, but Boulder Ski Deals was great for many years for some of our needs. There are a few empty spaces in the shopping center from the businesses recently gone, some we used, some we did not. But I am sure the management of this center will find suitable additions as times improve. And there is lots of parking unless there is a major holiday.Then, come early, in a smaller vehicle, carpool, and be creative.

Don't want to leave your beloved bike behind? Affix it to the outside/front of the bus. The contraption looks quite complicated but with a little help or experimentation you're sure to get the hang of it pretty quickly. Some of the most convenient rides I've been most thankful for are to Nederland for Frozen Dead Guy Days (FDGD). Nothing beats relaxing on the bus ride up & back, particularly when the roads are a mess from the snow (that happened my first year to FDGD). Who wants to mess with the parking and risking harm to others if you opt to imbibe at this annual event? The seats are comfy and adjustable. Most rides to Denver (FF1) that I've taken have allowed me my own set of seats with room to stretch out and read or just relax. The drivers are often friendly and happy to strike up a chat (it's been a habit of mine since grade school to befriend the bus drivers). There's a help/police desk inside the station aside from the purchase window (where you can buy passes etc.) These gents were so kind helping me navigate the multipack vending machine inside the station. To note there is also an electronic vending machine just outside the doors to the station (behind the benches) for day passes etc. both this machine as well as the indoor vending machine take credit cards. If you have a few days before your travels you can also purchase many passes online and they will mail them out to you. Discount passes are also available. Check out the RTD website for more info. The bathroom is typically clean and great for a quick stop before the bus ride (as I haven't been on any buses with toilets). Overall convenient, eco friendly, relaxing, and affordable way to travel from Boulder to DIA/Denver I've experienced. The main improvement I'd like to see is outlets in the bus to charge phone/iPad etc.

Hour and a half later: Great meal, starting to rain my grandma and I decide to wait across the street while my aunt extricates the car from the garage. Hour and 45 minutes later: My aunt finally calls me and tells me that she is almost out of the garage, after being stuck on the 2nd floor down. Yes, that is right, almost 2 hours to get out of the parking garage and to get the hell out of Boulder. 2 hours of my life wasted. The only upside is that my grandma and I got to spend quality time talking while waiting for the car. In the future I will spend whatever time necessary to find a street parking spot to avoid such a hassle.

Nestled behind the Sussex One building (visible from 30th) has its own parking garage. To note there are 3-4 spots outside the garage for oversize vehicles. Think the garage has marred many a roof rack in its day (I've seen at least one car try to squeeze through). The entrance to get into the building is also in the garage so if you are on foot or on bike be sure to head straight inside. There are several bike racks peppered around the garage just be sure to remember your lock. When you enter the building at the garage level you'll find a list of businesses & locations as well as an elevator should you choose to forego the stairs. On the 2nd floor is a very interesting garden which was designed by the architect in the 70's (met a friend of his today in fact). There are bathrooms on both the 2nd (northwest side of building near the hair salon) and 3rd floor (in the north east corner). The businesses contained within vary quite a bit. From physical therapists, counselors, Pilates studio, publishers, healers (various massage and acupuncturists), fishing company, hair salon, and background check services. The vending machine also offers quite a selection (you'll pass it on your way to the bathroom on the 2nd floor). Loads of ordinary cookies and crackers as well as $2.50 Justin's' peanut butter cups, cans of Yerba mate, coconut water, and my favorite unique item a salmon lunch kit (no, I have and will not be trying this). If you find yourself there at lunch you may find yourself a bit out of luck if you have to hear something up or want to wash a dish or two as there is no communal kitchen area. Interesting place worth checking out, particularly if you are looking for a healer (I recommend Mind Body Wisdom).

The building itself is huge, thoughtfully organized, and full of natural light, which makes it a great place to spend a few hours exploring. There are so many different ways to enjoy the space. You can grab a book and settle into one of the cozy reading areas, reserve a study room, or stop by the coffee shop. There's also a fantastic kid-friendly area and even fish tanks that add to the calm, relaxing atmosphere. One of my favorite parts is the location right along Boulder Creek. You can step outside and walk the path, enjoy the scenery, and then come back inside to read or work. It feels like the perfect mix of nature, community, and learning. The library also hosts events throughout the year, so there's always something going on. Whether you're visiting Boulder or you live nearby, it's absolutely worth a stop. Great vibes all around.
