With inclement weather on the possible horizon and a free bus pass (thank you City of Boulder!) the ff1 is my mode of choice today. If I will be back before dinner I'll typically walk to the downtown station, if like today I may be home on the later side I opt to drive, park, and ride from Table Mesa. There is often ample parking in the multi level parking garage and since I have local tags I'm good to park for an entire day fee free. I've had a couple mix-ups regarding where to actually board the bus- so word to the wise double check this before you depart your vehicle. Taking the bus to Denver/DIA? You may need to hoof it (or ride the elevator) up to the bridge that takes you out to the bus stop. I've missed a bus or two by waiting on the wrong side of the station. Picking a friend up or dropping them off at this station? There are handy dandy temporary spots just as you enter the garage. Not to worry, you definitely can't miss the signs. Overall super duper little transit center with ticket purchasing machines peppered throughout. For as long as I can recall there have been no permanent restrooms so do make sure to take a bio break before you head here. I may have also temporarily misplaced my car in the garage so I recommend double checking/noting where you park so the final leg of your journey home sets off without a hitch.

They recently upgraded all the stations along the US-36 corridor with new covered seating and digital schedule displays. This is a huge upgrade from what they had before! There is also a paper map of bus routes with daily schedules available for you to peruse at your leisure. This particular station has plenty of parking no matter when you arrive. There is a pedestrian tunnel under US-36 to an additional parking lot and the westbound gates. Busses generally run on-time, although I have encountered a couple instances when they didn't show up at all. Aside from that, though, this is a great alternative to driving! Pro-Tip: if you have an iPhone (or other smartphone), there are lots of great apps for tracking public transit. My personal favorites are Moovit & Transit. If you frequently use RTD, these are really helpful.

When the photographer came around, she asked my parents to move to a larger table so we could all squeeze in the picture. After the photo, my parents stayed at the new seats. When my son asked for water, we were all told that we were denied service for the remainder of the ride (another 45 minutes) because my parents had not returned to their seats after the photo, even though they'd never been asked to do so and two children had moved into their old seats when they got up. My 10 year old then had to watch all the other kids having hot chocolate and cookies while he wasn't "allowed" to have anything. The waitress also had the security guard sit with my elderly parents for the remainder of the ride so they didn't get out of line. So humiliating and unwarranted. It was honestly the most bizarre experience we've ever encountered. Santa seemed like he'd been drinking - saying weird things to the kids and to my husband. Very inappropriate. I spoke with Mark, the Commissioner in charge of the Georgetown Loop, and he immediately refunded our money. I do hope they change their staffing to better reflect the beauty and tradition of the experience.

Save time, save money and ride the train from the airport to Golden CO! It's easy, it's cheap and if you are 65 there is even a discount. Park at the Jeffco line because it's free and a safe place to leave your ride and not have a hassle fighting for a space downtown. The government building is right next door to the West line so no worries about your car. The train is clean and you don't have to stress the traffic.

There are two ticket machines; one takes cash and card and the other is card only. So many reasons to ride the light rail! Avoid busy traffic, avoid parking hassles and fees, see some cool sights, have a few drinks downtown without worrying about a DD, and support public transportation!! People watching is never disappointing either. Usually takes us about 40-45 minutes to get to Union Station. My only complaint about all of these stations is they need more ticket machines. This one isn't as much of a problem as Union Station or Pepsi Center where we have waited 45 minutes after an event to get our tickets. But we have missed a train a time or two here because we are waiting in line. Yay for public transportation!!

This means you are looking at $10 per person for a round trip. This might make economic sense for 1 person, but if you are a group of 4 or 5 people going out for the evening, you could drive downtown, pay for gas and $10 for parking, and still come out $20 to $30 ahead. Also, you would get downtown faster, not spend as much time cooling your heels at the station (or have to change trains on the weekend), and probably wind up much closer to your intended destination. It is neither convenient nor cost effective for many people.

He's energetic and peppy in the morning, which makes for a very enjoyable ride to school. The Golden Call-N-Ride is an extention of RTD public transit services. They have a scheduled route, a flex route (runs at certain time intervals), and a call-in service. You must call and reserve a pick-up at least 2 hours in advance. While I have not used the call-in service, I have called to ask them to stop on a flex route stop outside of their flex route hours. The "Golden green bus" is incredibly convenient as it stops at the Colorado School of Mines and the JeffCo Light Rail Station. As a CSM student, I get a discounted bus pass every year which makes for easy commuting. I am very excited that RTD expanded their service out to Golden. I'd like to see light rail service to the airport next (crossing my fingers that it was connect with the W-line with only one transfer!).

In recent weeks, there have been a number of problems, including a 55 minute wait to be picked up one afternoon, a bus that never showed on another afternoon, drivers who have not been trained (to the extent that they don't know the routes or, at times, even how to use their onboard computer/GPS system), and a missed connection at light rail on one morning. As I say, all of these incidents have taken place within recent weeks, and I never had trouble with the previous contractor. I do not fault the drivers. With one exception, the new drivers have all been pleasant, and I don't mind providing directions as needed. I am absolutely dependent on the service and I really need it to work as it used to work. A complaint has also been submitted to RTD directly: 300-299-6000.

I received multiple texts stating "take me about three minutes to get there," "3 minutes," "I'm coming," etc. Yet the vehicle did not arrive until approximately 6:40pm. As an older traveler with mobility concerns, I hired a limo service specifically for peace of mind and reliability. The vehicle itself was fine, and I did ultimately get home safely. However, the delay and the inaccurate arrival estimates created unnecessary anxiety. When I contacted the company the next day to request acknowledgment and adjustment to their charge, I was told I had only waited three minutes and was informed I am no longer welcome to use the service. I'm sharing this experience for travelers who prioritize reliability and clear communication when arranging airport transportation.
