I am not too aware of all the history behind the building, but I look forward to soon. There are plenty of places to eat and have a drink in and around Union Station (breakfast spot, coffee spot, at least 2 bars I'm aware of, etc). It really is a nice place to both begin and end trips. It is hard to explain but I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. It is also a nice place to get some work done. There are plenty of places to sit and plug in. Keep in mind that the bathrooms downstairs are open to the public so you may see some interesting things and individuals there.

I love Cooper Lounge upstairs where you can get a classy espresso martini and have an elevated experience and watch the activity below. There is so much going on in all of the various wings of this place! A hotel, other restaurants, at Christmas there is a holiday popup in the basement, a ticketing station, etc! I've really only been to the main area and love the new beautiful installment of Pigtrain Coffee. I love the fancy pistachio pastry dessert at Baumé and the Christmas tree decor this past year was AMAZE. I feel like it represents a standard that people will experience throughout Denver in their travels like if they just arrived there via Union Station or are relatively new. It's a vibe of quality that permeates throughout.

It is located in Arvada, Colorado and is the fourth northbound station from Denver Union Station. It opened on April 26, 2019." The Gold Strike Station, along the RTD G Line, provides an easy commute option for local employees, residents, and visitors. East Arvada, where the Gold Strike Station is located, includes industrial, residential, and agricultural areas. Sidewalk and bike lane improvements on 60th Avenue between Fenton and Wolff have begun. Public Art at the Station The art chosen for the Gold Strike Station is "Gold Pour" and commemorates the first documented gold strike in Colorado at the nearby confluence of Ralston and Clear Creeks. Shimmering gold made of glass and mosaic tiles will appear to pour over the Station wall. Paying homage to Arvada's history, including Colorado's first gold strike, artist Aaron T Stephan is creating the "Gold Pour" work. Parking: 330 Spaces Travel Time to Union Station: 13 Minutes More stops along the G line. This is the closest station to my home. Westminster (B line) is close too. Not as many amenities as some of the larger stations but plenty of parking so who cares?! Bike parking and lockup is available as well as spots specifically for motorcycle. Drop off spots are clearly marked, wide spaces, and easy to read signage to going westbound or eastbound on the train.

I have no idea how much the parking costs because I found a free street parking space both times I was here. There are automated ticket vending machines on the platform and you will absolutely want to buy a ticket. All four times I rode the train, there was a conductor checking for fares. The train is clean and comfortable enough. It's only a 12 minute run from Westminster to Union station so I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if it was crowded during the rush hour runs. Three stars because the train only runs every hour. That's a big gap between trains!

Supposedly the price goes up for parking and of October (2016) but to what fee is unclear at this time. Used the train for the first time going downtown for Great American Beer Festival so that was convenient. Not drinking and driving etc. only pain is the last train to Westminster/Arvada is around 10:20. For people wanting to stay out later it's nice to drive. Still the train took about eleven minutes into Union Station and around fourteen to get back to Westminster. Would ride again.
