This looks like a bare bones kind of transit station. However, it can be very busy because it is…read morein close proximity to the I-25 & I-225 Freeways. You can take the light rail (train), bus, or even the Bustang to and from here. Never heard of the Bustang, but it is a bus service that travels between Denver and Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and other cities. I parked on E. Layton Ave. since it was closest to the tunnel where the art is at instead of in the Park-n-Ride lot. This lot has around 50+ spots. You'll have to check the signage to see if you need to pay or not. If you can find street parking, it is free for up to 2 hours. Other options are nearby parking garages that are free for the first 3 hours, but then will cost you ($25 max). Since I only came here to see the art installation in the tunnel, it suited my needs to park on the street. "Thunder Over The Rockies" by Richard Elliott, Commissioned by RTD art-N-Transit 2006. It's located in the pedestrian tunnel north of the station. The material of choice are road reflectors; about 4,000 of them! The colors are red, yellow, blue, green, and white. I'm not sure what time of day or night is best. I went in the afternoon. It was not sunny out. I found it a little difficult to see the reflectors "lit up". It was neat to see the geometric designs making great use of what would be just a dreary tunnel. It has native influences in the mosaic art. According to the RTD website, this is "The first reflectorized art tunnel in the world:" I would have taken the train or bus to any other station, but time didn't permit. It would have been cool to see all 30 art installations in the Denver area! You can ride free during July & August because of the "Zero Fare for Better Air" Campaign.

It gives you great walking access to the north end of DTC as well as access to route 27 right at the station. They are currently working on a public works project nearby so there is some dirt moving and construction vehicles on site but nothing to hamper getting to and from. E and F lines both make a stop here...$4.00 from here to downtown...right to Union Station or closer to the convention center

During our trip to Denver we decided to try taking the RTD instead of renting a car. We navigated…read morethe airport ok, but they could use a bit more signage- we got turned around a bit but ended up finding our way to the station. It didn't take long for the train to arrive once we were at the platform and we found seats easily and it was a smooth ride. We rode back into the station at the end of our trip and we were able to navigate from the station to security pretty easily since we were more familiar with the layout.

NO brainer for commuting from the airport to the city! I use the train all the time to travel. It's…read moreeasy and much less expensive to pay the $10-12 train fare and the $15 Uber or Lyft from Union Station to anywhere in the downtown Denver or closely adjacent areas. A ride straight to/from the airport will cost double and triple (or more) if the app is surging and they jack up the price. The irritation to commute in your own car, and the cost to park isn't worth it, IMO! The airport really isn't in "Denver", it's a way out in some suburb and they redrew the lines so they can call it "Denver". So, the drive to the airport from ACTUAL, real Denver can be a huge pain and just forget about it if it's rush hour. The train won't get caught up by this yucky traffic! The train is clean, comfortable, and feels safe as far as my experiences have gone. There is someone walking through who checks the tickets. I probably have had a couple rides where they didn't check, but not many, and that I recall this hasn't happened anymore recently -- as they do more often check, which is probably best for everyone. If you're new to Denver, spend some time if you can at Denver Union Station if this is your destination/departure stop. iIt's a very cool atmosphere with several places to eat/drink at inside. And there's a huge patio outside if the weather is nice.
