I have tried this place twice. And so far it's been consistent. If you are looking for the cliff notes version is; speciality pizzas = delicious. Service = not good. I have to be specific to speciality pizza being really good here. Because when you order a plain cheese pizza it's basically Little Cesar's quality. Just more cheese. Same greaser style and lacking taste. What saves this place for me is the Hawaiian speciality pizza. The topping to pizza ratio was on point. Great quality ingredients too. That pizza was divine. When I ordered here just a few days ago I placed an order around 7:30 to pick up at 8:30. The reply "we close at 9. If you come at 9 we lock the doors." Me; *already aware they close at 9 because I looked ahead of time* ok, not a problem. I placed an order for teriyaki wings, cheese pizza, Hawaiian pizza (speciality one I can't remember the name but I'll post a picture) and a personal salad. We arrive just after 8:30 for pick up. They forgot the cheese pizza. While my husband was told to stand aside and wait the lady behind him also found out they forgot part of her order. So she started waiting. Then my husband overheard the girl answer the phone, about 20 minutes prior to closing just answering and saying "we are not taking anymore orders". Dang. Ok. That's abrupt. Anyways we got the cheese pizza it was basically burnt and super greasy. The wings were lackluster. The salad was okay. Hawaiian pizza was delicious! Anyways we won't be back unless we decide to stay in boulder creek again and just need a pizza out of convenience based upon location. Otherwise I think it is a meh place. As for ambiance it seems fine. Nothing special. East street access for parking. I think the only reason we would

Pepperoni, ham and jalapeños. Very delicious pizza

The pizza was delicious, they had a pesto ranch that was so good. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. Very cozy local pizza spot. Will definitely come back.

We have dined so very many places in Santa Cruz but have never had such attentive service and an exceptional meal. Everything was just perfect from start to finish. I sat for a good 15 mins and this older grey haired waiter was helping the tables around me but he wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Then a female waitress came over and apologized for the wait and said there was a miscommunication as to who was serving my table. Would have been nice if the male waiter at least said someone would be with me and tell the waitress that her table was waiting to be helped. Anyway, since the female waitress took over everything was smooth sailing. I ordered the wood plank salmon with a house salad to start. The house salad was actually really good. Nice and fresh with a good selection of veggies including beets. The salmon was good. The sauce was a little odd, but the veggies and rice were tasty. Not sure that the quality and portion size justified the $42 price tag, I'll probably come back to try their pasta. It's an Italian place after all.

Very unsuspecting strip mall next to the cineplex. Upon walking in there's pizza slices behind glass. Not sure if it was the lighting or my hunger but these pie's looked astonishing and each one could have been ordered without some self control. Every slice passed the eye test. Vibes were pretty low inside I won't lie. There was no music, TV playing the NBA playoff game was on mute. But the girl at the counter was friendly and patient with us as we figured out what to order. My fiance went with the Caesar salad. She was expecting a small, discreet one as it was part of their specials along with pizza and drink. But no this salad was enough for two! I went with the sweet heat. Hot honey on a Detroit style slice along with sausage and pepperoni. I was in heaven. Had it not been a day with more eating ahead I would've ordered another. My son got the classic triangle pepperoni slices and said it was the best pizza he's ever eaten. High marks from a pizza connoisseur. Also like to mention the restaurant tables were very tidy and well kept. Bathrooms super clean as well.

I love that each location has its own signature pie, which makes it feel unique instead of just another chain experience! The apricot pizza at this location ONLY completely surprised me! It had that perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the cheese tied everything together so well. It did not feel gimmicky at all and bite felt intentional and balanced. I also tried the Little Italy Detroit style and DET Motorhead style slices. The Detroit crust is thick and fluffy with crispy, caramelized edges and a cheesy center that does not feel overly heavy. The bread to cheese ratio is honestly just right. The DET Motorhead with the sauce layered on top was rich and satisfying without being overwhelming. The Italian sausage was juicy with a slight sweetness and a little spice that added great flavor! Beyond the food, the employees were so nice and attentive. They were patient, helpful with recommendations, and made the whole experience feel welcoming and comfortable. Definitely a place I would come back to again for both the quality of the pizza and the friendly service!

When the pizza was served a bit on the cool side, the waiter heated it up and improved it a good thirty percent. We had six people in total and all together ordered the short rib ravioli, seafood stew, spaghetti and meatballs, roasted beets, French onion soup, potatoes with dip, a salad and a pizza. My favorite bite was the lasagna. The top had nicely melted and crispy cheese... very good! I also enjoyed the crispy potatoes with dip. The French onion soup didn't have a lot of color, but it still had a very distinct and tasty flavor. Outside of the food, the restaurant has a great outdoor area that's dog friendly! There is also a nice sized private parking lot. Oh, and if you pay in cash, there's a discount! Cons- I was craving spaghetti and meatballs, it just sounded so good to me! This was I think it's the first time I've ever ordered it at a restaurant (usually make it at home!) while I thought the dish had good flavor, I felt the pasta was slightly overcooked. It was not al dente... the meatballs also didn't have a lot of color, so that was disappointing. The seafood stew a friend ordered was small. She said it was good, but we overheard someone at a different table say that the stew used to be huge and it currently is not... Coloring... typically color equals flavor, so it was odd that several dishes had little coloring, but they did still taste good! Some things I didn't care as much for, but we all enjoyed the flavors of each dish...

Offerings were diverse and plentiful. Once again, I was struck with wanting all of the things. My server was accommodating with my request to taste two different white wines and two different reds throughout my meal. I opted for the Chardonnay to go with the special halibut crudo, which was outstandingly prepared. The fish itself was a bit on the fishy side (especially for halibut) but I don't fault the restaurant. The treatment of the fish was perfection. I'm a bit of a Caesar salad aficionado and considered skipping Mentone's mostly because I'd just enjoyed one the night before. But I just had to try it and I'm glad I did. It was certainly not traditional but it was very well made, even better with the added anchovies ~ although I did suffer some sticker shock when I got the bill and found that those little fish were $2 each. Ooof. Switched gears to some Pinot Noir and went for the ricotta sage browned butter ravioli, which were fabulous. I probably should have stopped there but ordered the tiramisu and it was a miss for me. Just way (way) too boozy and totally lacked balance, although it was pretty. All in all, a very nice experience ~ although very pricey for a single diner. Appetizer, salad (with the pricey little fishies), entree, dessert and two 5-ounce pours of wine left my wallet $185 lighter (with tax, tip and 4% kitchen wages surcharge). I know everything is very expensive these days, but whoa. Definitely a special occasion kind of place!
