Bougetz was our third tasting room stop on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley tour (and fourth/last stop overall), and honestly I would've skipped it if I had just seen pictures. It's a small tasting room, but don't let that deter you -- what it lacks in ambience and vines, it makes up in delicious wine and an amazing tasting host, Tim. Tim walked us through "real" wine tasting (e.g., not being pretentious, sharing that everybody's favorite is different for a reason, "legs" are fake, testing the sweetness between the Cab Sauv valley and mountains, etc.) and made it fun. Even some people who wanted to skip the tasting were given a tasting glass to try one kind because Tim wanted them to experience it with the rest of us. What a cute tucked away wine tasting room! We had no clue that these wineries were there, so do yourself a favor and go see them. And then stop by Jessel Gallery, and be in the most incredible gallery you've ever seen! Our wine tasting started with a Sauvignon Blanc that was super good. Then we went to the Reds and they were delicious as well, but our favorite, almost at the end was a taste of their Viognier! We are red wine drinkers, but this was just exceptional... Went away with three bottles of that and three bottles of a cab blend. Tim was just the greatest guy! There were three groups in the room, and he handled all of the tables with ease, laughter and knowledge. So fun! Thank you Tim, we will be back with friends! read more

We discovered Bougetz because it was on the list of wineries that accepted our priority wine pass. It ended up being a cute, small tasting room next to a few others on the road that Silverado Resort sits on. We reserved with our priority wine pass which got us two tastings for $30 (instead of per person). We were also super happy to find out when we were there that buying two bottles waived the tasting fee. Luckily for us there were two standout wines that we wanted to buy! The tasting included four wines, plus a bonus pour when we sat down, plus two bonus pours at the end. Damn no wonder we were more tipsy after this one. They had outdoor and indoor space, and had set our reservation up inside. I was a little hesitant to do that since we've been on the safer side during the pandemic, but we were the only ones there and outside we would have been next to a large group so we went with it. I will say that both people working there that we interacted with were incredibly nice, funny, and down to earth. I was a little uncomfortable that the guy that initially seated us took off his mask once he found out we were vaccinated (just to give more reference I'm one of those people who hasn't left the house in over a year because of a health condition). Luckily Carol Ann served us and she was super respectful about it, she kept her mask on and even talked to us from 6 feet away when not pouring and giving the story behind each wine which I appreciated. We tried: 2018 Sauvignon Blanc - Another more acidic one so I wasn't a big fan. 2/5 2018 Belle Reve, Viognier ($38) - Our first time trying this type of wine and it was intriguingly good. Similar to a chardonnay but just a different taste, with a slight sweetness. 4/5 2017 The Cairn, Pinot Noir ($42) - Apparently they pronounce it "the karen" which is hilarious. It was good, but not great. Missing that intense smokey flavor for me. 3/5 2017 Jovana, Merlot/Cabernet Franc ($52) - This one had a very funny story behind the name as well. Again I thought it was okay but not great. I like the more fruity merlots. 3/5 2017 Jetrois, Cabernet Sauvignon ($79) - I can't remember what I thought of this one just that I liked the next cab better. 2017 Amaryllis, Cabernet Sauvignon ($62) - This was fantastic, not too bold but still tons of flavor. 5/5 2017 Prominence, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($99) - One of those pure cabs that is super super strong. Too much for me. 3/5 The tasting experience here was definitely the most down to earth we experienced in Napa, so if that's your jam I'd recommend it. We got to learn all about the wines, the stories behind the names, and even how to correctly spin your wine glass and where to smell to get the most accurate smell of the wine. Fun times! read more

I grew up on boxed Franzia and graduated to Two Buck Chuck in my college years, just need to get that out of the way right now. While my palate has grown over the years, I still rarely drop more than $20 on a bottle. My first trip to Napa was... overwhelming, to say the least. I was blown away by the sheer number of high quality, EXPENSIVE wines in the region. By the time my friend (a Napa local) took me to Bougetz I was exhausted. Suffice to say, I was pleasantly surprised. We were the first reservation of the day and were greeted with blankets for the chilly air and water to palate cleanse between sips. My friend was a member, so our tastings were free. Overall, the wines were my favorite of the entire trip, and were the most reasonably priced wines for the quality. I was happy to purchase multiple bottles within my budget to take home, and even learn that the label hid some heavy hitters that would cost much more elsewhere. I missed the names of our hosts, but they were a hoot. We got a full background of how the business started and you could really tell their passion for the process. We were walked through some professional tasting techniques that took our experience truly to the next level. My friend confirmed this place is truly a hidden gem. So we loved Tim for about five minutes. First, our group asked for an 11am reservation and were told that it was put down as 11:30. Then he started mansplaining to everyone in the group. We had 15 people which I understand is a lot, but it doesn't excuse his aggressive and patronizing behavior. We asked for water probably 5 times and never received it. Oh! And then we had to leave early (because they put our reservation down incorrectly) he said it was "obscene" that we had to leave early and the "dumbest thing [he's] ever heard." You'd think he was joking. He wasn't. Someone in my group left saying, "I felt like I just got bullied." If you love hanging out with people who peaked in college and can't get over the fact that most people aren't going to hang onto every single word they say - ask for Tim. 2 stars because I'd be down to go back but definitely not for Tim. read more

There is no question that Napa has an extensive list of great wineries and tasting rooms. Having great wine is a must but what also must be present is that human factor, hospitality, and personable combination. In other words we look for a Total Wine Experience and fortunately found that at Bougetz Cellars. We wanted to try somewhere new so on a recommendation of our Napa resident friend we found ourselves at Bougetz Cellers. We called enroute there, on a busy Holiday Weekend, and spoke to Carol Ann who made the tasting happen. We mentioned our friends had been there and when and she remembered their names. It was Much appreciated on our part to get us in because we knew it was a cold hit and a last minute call for an appointment. Carol Ann hosted us for a tasting. We were greeted with genuine enthusiasm and gratitude for coming during these unrestful times. She was extremely knowledgeable and personable at the same time. nothing pretentious existed here. Everything was in line with restrictions and we felt totally comfortable while at the same time it did not seem as if we were restricted at all. It was extremely clean and spacious for a small space. It was tastefully decorated making it inviting and comfortable. Once we started our tasting we discovered that Bougertz has an extensive flavor profile and has something for everyone, then add on the hospitality it became a total win situation. We also discovered they have Coombsville AVA grapes, now it can't get much better than that but yet it did. After our introduction to their wines, of which we have never had or heard of we purchased a case of Reds and joined their wine club. Usually not an easy sell for me. But this went without contemplation. We appreciate full bodied, bold, flavorful Reds and certainly found them here along with how we were treated it was an easy decision. We also met Tim, who had finished hosting other customers and came over to us to introduce himself. We found him to be extremely pleasant and full of great conversation and recommendations. We appreciate that small, family feel and certainly received that at Bougetz from Carol Anne and Tim. We look forward too many more adventures at Bougetz and to meeting Thomas and Joan Bougetz. My first exposure to Bougetz was the fourth stop on the Napa Wine Trolley tour I took with a friend. Although I highly recommend the tour, I felt that I had tasted too much wine to do justice to the Bougetz tasting. Tim Ennis was our host, and if he hadn't been so engaging and educational, I might not have given it another thought. Thank goodness, I did. I booked a reservation for my husband and I to come back and give these wines the attention I thought they might deserve. Again, Tim was our wine educator and neither he nor the wines disappointed. These wines are a sampling of some of Napa's superior AVAs and a great lesson in not taking tasting so seriously as to be intimidating. The Viognier is very tasty but this is Napa so ofcourse the reds are really where the focus is !! The property has great indoor and outdoor seating options and you are sure to get excellent service from CarolAnn who has a great depth of knowledge about the Bougetz wines but also about the history and complexity of the wine industry in Napa. I recently traveled to Napa and stumbled upon Bougetz!!!The wine and the service was absolutely fantastic. The tasting room is tucked into a cute little spot on Atlas Peak Rd besides Jessel Gallery. There is also another winery right next door with good wines as well called Prime Solum. What really impressed me about Bougetz was how good the single vineyard Cabernets were and how well they were priced. They had a Spring Mountain Cab for $62 that was better than many of the $150 plus bottles I tasted that week. I joined the club and will be telling all my friends who love wine about this place. It is awesome and have a lovey welcoming ambiance. David the GM is a Sommelier and very knowledgable, without being over bearing. If you need a place to stop try Bougetz. read more

This is a hidden gem and a visit worth your time!! We have tasted Bougetz wine before but this was our first trip to the tasting room. Facility is very nice...not your typical "stand up bar" but really a cozy venue. The owner was there (Thomas) and he spent time with us telling us about his background and story, experience at CRUSH PAD, and his passion to learn and make great wine. The staff was on point! We leaned so much and many great and fun stories! Oh by the way...the wine is fantastic. Specialty is great CAB, but we had some wonderful white wines (BLISS!!) and some wines yet to be released.
