I usually dislike going to get my hair done because of the awkward small talk, etc but Erica was super nice and made me feel comfortable (found her via Style Seat). The salon has a great aesthetic and is super cute, not to mention reasonable pricing! Everything looked fine when I left but when I got home I found areas that didn't look so great (sorry girl)! It looks like the foils slipped but the color wasn't fully blended in some sections (so I have a couple harsh lines where the lighter blonde just stops before the root etc; hopefully that makes sense. I enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend this spot but I hope Erica (or whoever checks the Yelp) can reach out to me to fix it. I have been with Kami for about 2 years now! Kami is the first hair stylist that I have stuck with for this long and I plan on her doing my hair forever and ever! She's good at literally everything. I'm talking about ombré, balayage, highlights, everything! I have gotten my hair done with a balayage with her and it was beautiful and I also got an ombré as well and she did really good blending everything out for me and making my hair look fabulous! If you're looking to cut your hair from long to short, kami is known to do AMAZING short cuts. I had long hair and every time I went short from a different hair stylist I was never satisfied! Kami is my first hair stylist where I let her cut my hair short and I fell in love when I saw it! I wasn't sad or anything, she made me love my short hair from the quality cut she gave me. It was perfect. She will make you look so good in short hair! I love how she takes her time and what you want with your hair, Kami will deliver it! It pains me to write a bad review for Bouffant. My stylist, Lynzy, worked here until very recently she relocated out of the country. I love the glitzy vibe that Bouffant has and totally loved Lynzy. I wanted to continue on with another stylist at Bouffant. I called twice, each time got an answering machine, during business hours. I left a message each time with my specifics but never received a return call. I'm not sure how you run a business with this type of non-customer service. Extremely disappointed! read more

Moving to San Diego from the east coast I had a hard time finding someone who could deal with my hair. I'm mixed so my hair is really curly and somewhat fine. Most black owned salons put too much product in my hair which leaves my hair greasy and weighed down and most white owned salons don't use anything which leaves it frizzy and fluffy. I stumbled across a gem with Ally. She uses the right products to get my hair straight with just a blowout and it's not greasy. If you have curly crazy hair I recommend Ally. She's also really good at color. My hair is really dark and I did an ombré on my ends and wanted a change after almost a year. I showed her a picture of a really pretty brown with some highlights and she made it looks beautiful. If you are curly or some some fancy color go to Ally! The general atmosphere is so lively and bright. It looks upscale and I'm rather fond of the jar of mini chocolates. They have water and coffee to go with those chocolates. Sometimes parking is rough because of the bar next door but I haven't really had problems finding a place. read more

I followed Cassie B from her previous salon and was a little skeptical because I really liked her last salon a lot! However, after coming to Bouffant multiple times now it's really grown on me - and I like it more! The decor is unique, intimate, warm, inviting and the open floor with booths in just the right spots makes the salon look larger! As far as Cassie B - she is the best! She's done my hair for years and when I scrolled down and I didn't see her name in the last few reviews I knew I had to sit her and give my girl Cassie some props! She really listens to who you are and what would work best for you.... if you're conservative she will hear you and go that route, or if you want crazy blond chunky streaks for 6 months like I did she will do that as well. Two of my other friends trust her color and cut skills and honestly, I've let Cassie do more to my hair than anyone in my life so that's a big deal! I love this place. I followed Sharon Barnett (LOVE HER!) from her last salon, which was really nice, but this one just feels posh, relaxing, and so welcoming when you walk in, from the fashionable seating in the front area to the chandeliers lighting the main floor, and the warm color of the walls. I've been offered everything from water to a glass of wine(!) and chocolate, and the folks working there are friendly and welcoming, and street parking is easy. Of course, that's all moot if you don't look great at the end, and I always leave feeling fresh, pretty, and sassy with my new hair thanks to Sharon's genius. It's not super-cheap, but if that were my priority, I'd go to Super Cuts. My hair is challenging, and I feel better putting myself in the care of a master technician. These folks take a minute to consult with each other on color mixing and texture like your head is an exciting art project that MUST be shared and enjoyed, so you get the benefit of ALL the experience. Lynzy Gowing is the best. I followed her here from her last salon, and she has styled my hair for 5+ years. I can't count the number of people I have sent to her. She knows exactly what cut and color will look good on you, and recommends accordingly. She's fun, fabulous, and truly enjoys the process of giving someone a great style. I've gone from brown with highlights, to red, mostly blond, to dark brown, and now dark brown with carmel balayage all from Lynzy's handiwork. I love Julie, the owner, and this girl knows how to hire talented stylists. Lynzy is just one of the many you could see here. I also love Amelia and how she works with vibrant colors for her clients. They both were not only talented, professional and exceptionally attentive, but they were also so much fun while we were getting ready for my big day! Ally was able to impeccably recreate all of the different hairstyles that the ladies in my bridal party wanted to have done based off of online photos they showed her right beforehand, and Natalie did such a beautiful job on their makeup as well. Everyone looked and felt drop dead gorgeous!! As the bride, Natalie did both my makeup and hair, and she truly exceeded my expectations. If you book her, I CANNOT stress this enough - DO THE MOCK HAIR & MAKEUP TRIAL WITH HER!!! I almost made the mistake of not completing one, but words cannot express how thankful I am that I did. I initially thought I wanted to wear my hair down, so that's what we did for my trial. I also did a final fitting of my wedding dress that same day to see how it all looked together. After looking at photos, it became clear that my hair would look much better in an up-do style instead. I would have been devastated if I hadn't made that realization beforehand and there was no way to know without testing it out with Natalie first! Plus, it allowed me to relax on the day of my wedding and more importantly, thoroughly enjoy the experience of getting ready with all my girls! We all received tons of compliments and looked flawless for our photos, and none of us had to ever touch up our hair or makeup once for the entire event.
