Parcelles brings farm to table to a new level by putting the table in the middle of a farm field. Finding your way to your table at Parcelles you walk through their vegetable garden and past the chickens and are then seated at a picnic table over looking the fields and Lake Memphremagog. It is truly one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. The menu is a prix fix which in our case included a selection of local cheeses, fresh vegetables, Matane shrimp, and a pizza cooked in their outdoor pizza oven topped off with a blueberry vanilla cake with cream cheese icing. After a recent article in La Presse resulted in a flood of guests descending on Parcelles they now operate by reservation only. Upon arriving, you place your order and pay right away and you are given a picnic basket with your cutlery and plates which you can take to a picnic table or to a spot in the field if you brought your own picnic blanket. Dogs are welcome. The food is as spectacular as the setting. This is truly a spot that everyone must try. It is certainly worth planning a day trip from Montréal to enjoy a meal at Parcelles.

We toured this location, but chose not to eat there for lunch. However, we will be back to try it another day. The inside is small with some seating. The pastries, sandwiches and bakery items were similar to those in the Baie-Saint-Paul location. There were quite a few people in the store who had discovered this place and were ordering lunch. It was actually quite crowded. We will return to eat here.

We were glad we didn't bring our stroller inside, as it would not have fit, but that said, they did have high chairs for little ones. The Brazilian-inspired vegan cafe is run by the owner (originally from Brazil) and another woman who were both very kind and gave us ample suggestions as well as time to peruse the menu (in French and English). It was very easy to find gluten free options, which I much appreciated. Everything is made to order and made in house, including the vegan cheeses. Service was a little slow due to some staffing issues, but we weren't in a rush and were glad to chat with the owner a bit to hear about her vision for the cafe. We opted to share a smoothie and a sweet crepe, while we each got our own savory crepes. We couldn't resist getting the blue piña commmlada smoothie, which was fruity, not too sweet, and reminded us of blue milk from Star Wars. Our little one immediately grabbed for our glasses, so we gave him a sip and he was big fan, too! As for the crepes, these aren't your typical French-style crepes, but Brazilian style made with tapioca flour and naturally gluten free. Despite having cooked with tapioca flour at home, I wasn't quite prepared for the nearly-bright white crepes that arrived at our table. They encased the fillings like an omelette, but were crisp on the outside and chewy-melty on the inside (more taco like than pancake-like). I haven't had anything quite like it before, but I quite enjoyed. The champignommm et oignommm (yes, just about every dish name comes with extra "m's") was super delicious and creamy. Highly recommended! The Tall Man's BLT Bacommm was fresh but sparser on the ingredients, and the mushroom bacon wasn't very mushroomy or bacony. At the end we shared a car tola à la plante sweet crepe, which we were told was one of the more Brazilian of the options. The combination of caramelized bananas and the tart fromage blanc (a soft cheese kind of a cross between cottage cheese and yogurt) was a delicious conclusion to our meal. If they were open for additional days of the week while we were in town, we would have gone back! À la prochaine :)

Well now that things are back to normal, it is not the case anymore. I've been there three time so far since the spring. The first time was for coffee. The place was pretty empty, I ordered a cappuccino. It took a fair amount of time to get it. Ok, I give it to you that it's not the kind of coffee that you immediately pour in a cup, but that are some limit. The second time I went, I wanted a beer, I said so to hostess, I was seated and given the drink menu. When the server finally came to take my order, she informed me that they couldn't alcohol alone. That I had to eat. Why wasn't I informed of that when I walked in? It would have been easier instead of arguing with the waitress. Last Sunday, I was back. I wanted to have some sort of breakfast. I walked inside not wanting to sit on the patio. It took over 15 minutes to have the hostess come to me. I was finally sit and again, I had to wait for a waitress for a period that is more than what is really required. She asked me if I wanted to start with something to drink. I said yes, gave her my order for a cappuccino and she disappeared. About 20 minutes later, she comes back with my coffee and to take my order. I give her my order and 30 minutes after giving my order, I still haven't received it. By that time, my coffee was done so I left money on the table for the coffee and I left. I would gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking that she is new. But this was the end of the lunch time and this is the same type of service I received on prior visits. In my book, they are done.
