This review is long overdue! Quite an interesting spot - Indian groceries, fried chicken, clothes & really good BEER. My husband gets his haircut next door so sometimes I tag along. I've hung out here once or twice ..got a few beer and since they have free WiFi, I was able to get some work done as well. If you get hungry - their fried chicken is really good!

I'm guessing it's because of the tariffs.

Jan 16 2026 3.9 stars…read more Normally we will drive from Crockett to Dublin for Indian food. A long drive since we often hit commute trafic on the way home. Shalimar's Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken and their rice. Shalimar is a bit holee-in-the- wallee but their food is delicious. Today we decided to give Paradise a chance and save some driving miles and time.. First impression. The glass entrance door could use some windex and tape removed. Sprucing up. Looking good. Maybe this place IS Just Like Shalimar but without the drive. Inside the place looks spacious and clean with the exception of two pieces of litter near a band stage that keep screaming to be picked up. As we were not greeted when we arrived, we walked across the restaurant to interupt the cashier\waiter''s conversation he is engaged in. We are told we should take our menus he hands us to the table of our choosing and that he will be our waiter. The Waiter\Cashier is charming and attentive on every interaction we have with him after this. After about 30 minutes our Tandoori Chicken arrives sizzling and steaming on a heated metal plate. A nice touch. That heated metal plate kept the chicken hot the entire meal. The size of the Tandoori order was smaller than we are used to but I'm still happy I'm not driving to Dublin. My wife complains that the chicken tastes "old" as if it was precooked and then reheated. The other items arrived. We both loved the Tikka Masala , Rice and Garlic Naan. And enjoyed skipping the round trip to Dublin. We wanted to order more rice but the Waiter/Cashier was being bum rushed with what looked like to-go orders and I didn't want to wait in line to ask for rice. Our meal is almost finished and the Waiter/Cashier stops by to ask how things are. We mention the rice story and he immediately offers an order of rice and Tikka Masala gravy. Turns out it was the rice With Chicken in the gravy. Nice one Sir. Wife and I both agree that we will stop by for Tikka Masala but will be driving to Dublin for Tandori Chicken. Take note that there may be an automatically applied service charge added to your bill regardless of your party size. We got one for a party of two. Also the toilet bowl in the first of two variable sex restrooms that you come to is not totally secured to the floor.

My friend from El Cerrito has been coming here for years and took me to eat dinner here but now a new owner has expanded the restaurant space and upgraded the ambiance. The owner greeted us and the service was top tier, friendly, fast and provided all that we asked for, which of course included some mango chutney. My friend had the Pakora dish with chickpeas and was very tasty and fresh. I had the chicken tandoori which has a Smokey tang to them and the jasmine rice and sauces were all excellent. My chicken was moist and juicy and came out steaming on a hot platter. The serving sizes were generous and the price was very reasonable. The owner offered some tasting of Free Kittens beer and it was also delicious and we ordered some. The beer selection is second to none and had my favorite oatmeal stout ! It was quiet and seating was comfortable. I had leftovers as there was so much to eat despite being hungry from moving furniture all day. The menu is expansive and the food came quickly, a definite return choice in East Bay off the beaten path.

Located in an incredibly small strip mall off San Pablo in El Cerrito (there is parking), you'll find this spot. Check hours ahead of time because they do close after lunch hours and reopen for dinner. We've ordered to-go from here several times, but this was the first time we've sat down and had a meal in-person. There's nothing like warm Naan bread, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Saag Paneer on a cold day. So delicious. And of course, a Mango Lassi for the kiddo. They also tried the Rice Pudding for dessert and a cup of the Dal soup..what a spread we had. The staff is so kind, and we truly had such a wonderful dinner shared together. You can tell they put so much heart into their dishes and the community that comes to support them. We can't wait to come back and try the Momos, Tandoori Special Kebabs, and the Chowmein (with egg!) There's an incredible amount of veggie dishes and vegetarian dishes here too. Not too bad on the wallet. A fun, local find for any occasion.

How DO they do it? - best aloo palak I've ever had. It's so creamy without being actually heavy on the cream. - garlic naan was soft and fluffy. I could have done with more garlic flavor. - paneer tikka masala had good flavor. It was still too sweet for my taste, but I think most people would enjoy it. - best mango lassi I've had. The perfect level of sweetness, and I will say most Indian restaurants sweeten their mango lassis WAY too much. - good service - big parking lot (not sure if it's Bevmo's, but we parked there anyway) Cons: - they were out of strawberry lassi :[ and another flavor too (I forget which). Either way, the only option was mango. - there are flies inside the restaurant and it's annoying to swat them out of the way throughout the meal.

We were seated immediately and didn't need to look at the menu too long before we ordered. We decided on pani puri and veggie samosas for apps and tikka masala and butter chicken, rice and garlic naan. I ordered a vegan mango lassi and him a regular mango lassi. The pani puri was ok. I like the crispy, but I wasn't too fond of the filling to be chilled. It also had a slight sweetness to it and it wasn't my favorite. I've had it before, but I don't remember it being chilled on the inside, but what I do like about it what is that? It has a crispy shell when you bite into it. The veggie samosas were my favorites. The butter chicken was kind of bland as well as the tikka masala. It did not stop me from finishing my garlic naan with our dishes but I found myself wishing it was more flavorful. My vegan mango lassi had a taste that I wasn't too fond of and didn't finish it. At the end of the meal, it was more than $100 and that was sticker shock for me. I don't think I'm returning, but the service is friendly.
