For those who know me, know that I am a huge lover of wine. Going to a wine store for me is like taking a kid to Disney World!! I get super excited by thinking what I am going to find new to try! For the last couple of weeks, my husband and I decided to have our own wine tasting with a few friends. We usually take a trip to check out vineyards and wineries, but since I have a wine tour coming up next month, we figured we would wait for the travels and instead have our friends over for mini-tasting. Bottles is always a great store to grab a few selections, whether for a party, a nightcap or to fill my wine rack:) The sales associates are extremely helpful in introducing you to different wines that you may want to add to your sipping list. This is a great beverage store, or perhaps I should say Superstore! Going to Bottles is so much better than going to a nasty, dimly-lit, rundown liquor store on the corner of the road. Every time I've gone to Bottles, the store is clean, everything is easy to find, the staff is very helpful, and they have a wide assortment of local beers, wines, and liquors to compliment the big-name brands. Starting a weekend away, we stopped here for a few bottles of something tasty. We had no problems finding the non-alcoholic beers (Mrs. K. is 30+ years sober) and a bottle of Cava for me. The store is neatly organized, nicely lit and has a very nice selection. It's not as big as a Total Wine but it gets the job done. Eight times out of 10 I find what I need at Bottles. I visited most recently to pick up my holiday bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau, but they only had one brand shipped to them this year (see picture). I mainly mention this because last year I got into a great discussion with one of the managers about Beaujolais and wine and liquor, and it actually really made my day, prompting me to make this my go to place for wine and spirits. The wine section especially is expansive and is organized by region and color. I wish they had a local section but that aspect is pretty spread out. The liquor section is usually well stocked although they don't normally carry my favorite whiskey - but it can be difficult to find in mid-sized cities for multiple reasons. The one thing I don't like about this place has nothing to do with the owners or managers but the people in the parking lot, who act kind of manic to go get their spirits. If God owned a beer spot, this would be the spot he created. The entire team is extremely professional and focuses on building relationships rather than trying to sell you a product. I'm pretty confident that's why I buy more beer than I absolutely need. But it's worth it when the management clearly cares about their customers. The establishment is really clean and organized exceptionally well. It's easy to find what you want on-demand. When it comes to selection, they have everything you need and it's broken down by category regardless of vodka, wine, beer, etc. If it exists, they got it or know how to find it. They make personal cans of beer. Like they can the beer in front of your eyes. I can't express how excited I sample and watch the process. Brings tears to my eyes :) Lastly, the team in store really knows their products. Describe what you want and they will make it appear. This is not a joke, they are legitimately that good. In addition to wines I needed for a party, I was going to buy several bottles of French wine and the wine person told me the same amount of the same wine in a box was less money. A great Superstore in Columbia. It has every alcohol need you could have, all the malts, whiskeys, domestic and import beers. I attended a bottle signing from Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo from Metallica. A great time was had, a beautiful store with so many choices to pick from. read more

Poor customer service. On a couple of previous visits, the staff had suggested that I sign up for their Bottles Club for discounts. They said I could just sign up on my phone while in the store, but I didn't have my phone with me (it was with my grumpy child in the car). Yesterday I finally remembered to sign up ahead of time, and travelled way out of my way to visit this store-- for the club discount (for a specific product). When I got the counter, my phone number/membership didn't come up in the system. The cashier asks the manager to come over, and he asks how long ago I submitted the club form, and I told him it had been earlier that day. He said Oh well it takes like 48 hours to go through. This is the moment where customer service can make or break an experience-- I was clearly frazzled and stressed, and said that the discount was the *only* reason I visited their store for this purchase. He just shrugged. I asked, is there anything you can do to help? He shrugged. I put part of my purchase back on the shelf. I left feeling really small and wanting to cry. The store could have done one of three things here: 1. Maybe the manager was bad with reading body language, or just was not attuned to customer service needs. My guess is that he had the ability to help with the situation, but appeared to truly not give a sh*t. 2. If the managers did not have the option to override the discount, the store should really give managers the discretion to help a customer who signed up but wasn't in the system yet. I could have shown the confirmation email or provide other verification. 3. At a BARE minimum, the store could add on their website form and/or confirmation email that the membership will not activate for 48  hours, to save them the trip/frustration. It's totally fine that the system is slow to update (maybe they have to do something manually?), but providing this info would give potential customers a chance to make an informed decision. This is such a physically nice store, but that experience felt incredibly unfriendly and negative. The staff seemed to be just totally apathetic. An experience that could have made me a loyal customer now has made me want to avoid the store at all costs. read more

I love scrolling through here while looking for my adult beverages. Everything is so organized and all around pristinely kept up ! So many wonderful options of beers that you wouldn't find at the grocery store ! They also have a draft area where you can fill up growlers. Watch out Total Wine. The best way to explain Bottles is to take total wine, add in an amazing growler fill area with about 25 taps, and hire some of the best employees that actually know a lot about the area they work in. I strike up great conversation with the staff here about beer that's actually worth the trip. Bottles also does free beer tastings on Thursdays where you can come in and try some beer from a brewery that comes down to help pass out samples. This is the best time to come and try some new stuff! The fills are priced very well too so you can get away with a $9 64oz fill sometimes depending on what's on the tap. Very happy I decided to stop in and check this place out. If your in the area and looking for alcohol this is the place to go for sure. read more

Every time I go in I ask for what's a good deal on double IPAs. The staff, without fail, every time responds with an attitude that comes across as if I am asking for a special deal. They then ignore me with what they said today, "the prices are there just look.". What the heck!? This place makes you feel like they are doing you a favor letting you in. Unlike Green's Beverage whose staff is always helpful this place is full of the most unhelpful people I have ever seen in any retail store. Today was the third and last time I am giving them a chance. Maybe I need to be a bearded hipster before they'll give a rip about my business. On the beer side, these guys are awesome. I'm an IPA guy and anytime I have asked for help or opinions on a new beer to try I get all the attention and help I need. I love coming her for craft beer. But if you want liquor and you want attention or acknowledgment that you are even in the building then you might want to go somewhere else. These guys are just doing their job, no more. I run my own small business and I understand that attention to the customer is important. Nobody has told these guys about that. But back to the beer and wine side... Great store, great selection, HORRIBLE customer service. This is the first yelp review I've ever left, I just feel compelled to share this negative experience. I've shopped at Bottles since it opened. Today, as I was checking out, my chip on my card would not work. The last two visits I've made the chip didn't work and I was allowed to swipe. I explained this to the cashier, who called over the manager. Instead of being accommodating & allowing me to swipe to make my purchase, I was told I must provide another form of payment. I explained this was my only card & asked them to allow me to swipe it again. I was told no for the third time. Ended up walking out without any apology or explanation from management. I've never had a retailer turn down business due to a chip error. I've typically had to insert 3X and then swipe, or said retailer will manually key in my card info. In summary, there's something to be said about supporting local businesses. Do yourself a favor and drive yourself a mile down the road to Morganelli's. They graciously helped me find all the items I had tried to purchase at Bottles & gift wrapped a bottle of champagne I was buying for a friend's birthday for $1. Great customer service, good liquor options, and good beer options! Each time I have been in this store I have been greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. Every time. That goes for both the liquor store side and the beer/wine side. I will say the liquor store side is a little smaller compared to similar stores. The prices seem to be pretty reasonable. Shopped at Bottles since they opened. Beer prices are reasonable but the wine is on average $3 higher than Total Wine. Liquor prices were good until they went up recently. $4 increase on the Vodka I buy. That is $10 over wholesale. I don't mind some profit but that is a bit steep. Profit much? A bike rack would be nice or at least something to lock it to that is secure. Cigar humidor is a nice touch, needs more smaller cigarillo type cigars though. Good parking, easy access. This place is like a smaller version of Green's. Both the wine and beer side and the liquor side had exactly what I needed and it is much more convenient for me to get here than any Green's location. While there, I asked for some recommendations on a good champagne for a gift for my friend, and they gave me multiple recommendations in different price ranges. I ended up getting one of the bottles they recommended, and my friend absolutely loved it. GREAT SERVICE. The folks who work here have one of the best attitudes I have ever seen. I believe the selection is better than Green's on Assembly and the staff is much more friendly. I don't believe I have ever walked into the store and not had someone ask if they could help. The first time that happens, you pick your jaw up off the floor because you are shocked to find that willingness to help. I really love the store, but they have so much expired beer on the shelf! I returned my beer for being skunk and grabbed another batch and it was still old and skunk. I will probably not return. It's unfortunate that it's such a nice store, but having such a large quantity of old beer amazes me. Some of the Budweiser that was on the shelf was made back in July. Great store for liquor, beer, or wine. Their prices are OK--from what I have seen better deals on beer and wine than liquor, but their selection across all beverage types is amazing. Great craft beer selection, as well as an impressive amount of quality imports. They even stock my all time favorite German beer--Reissdorf Kolsch--which is hard to come by outside major cities like NYC or Chicago. Staff is friendly and helpful.
