At some point during our virgin Colorado trip, we stopped into Beaver Liqours and I walked out of the door with a roguish smile and a poster that hung on my bedroom wall until my senior year in high school and then travelled with me to Utah and graced my dorm room wall until my sophomore year in college. It was lost during one of my many moves. Fast forward four decades, I stopped in Avon a few days ago specifically to pick up a t-shirt for my girl and walked out with a smaller reprint of the same poster. I call that a win. Same smile too. High prices!? Huh? It's frickin' Beaver Creek! I am happy that Beaver Liqours is still in business and remains family-owned and I appreciate that they haven't shied away from their sense of humor after all of these years. Seriously, if you can't work out from the name of the place their personality ... You're probably not the brightest bulb.

The selection should get the job done for many people, a little light on the beers, definitely on the sparkling wine, but they have the core liquors and a reasonable selection of red wine. Also wanted mezcal and they either had one or none; memory is failing me on which it was, and I know mezcal is not as popular as its cousin tequila, but most liquor stores at least have three or four.

It's located right in town just a couple blocks from White House Tavern. The moment we arrived we were greeted by a staff member who offered to help us. I ended up picking out two bottles of Burgundy that the staff recommended. Prices seemed slightly higher than what I am used to back in LA, but that is probably to be expected considering these wines made it all the way to Aspen. I was impressed with the selection and would definitely come back if I need wine in Aspen!

My husband found a nice bottle of wine for one of our neighbors who was taking care of our plants while we were gone. We didn't look this place up ahead of time, we got lost trying to find Rocky Mountain Pizza (see my review0 and went the opposite direction and we ended up here, and it was a great accidental finding! I bought two wonderful bottles here: - Wild Roots Marionberry infused vodka; I love Marionberries! - Wood Creek Distillers Limited Edition Seasonal Gin infused with blue butterfly pea flowers, made locally with spring water as I am a big fan (read my reviews on Shoshone, Navajo, Cheyenne and Stratton Springs in Manitou Springs). I actually went back twice during my stay to also get bottled spicy, smoky margaritas and a pineapple daiquiri in small cans that were ready to drink. The service here was super friendly. On our second day, they offered us some free bags of small chips as we bought X-amount. Very nice and friendly and they carry artisanal spirits, that's my kinda place! RETURN factor = 100% if we're lucky enough to come back to Glenwood Springs.
