So fortunate have a Bottle King store in our town for everyone's liquor needs. It's a massive store with huge inventory of all sorts of items. Beer collection is even better. Huge fridges holding cases of them. For hard liquors I love how they have placards in front of each explaining the origin. The shelves are very tidy. Each section is marked with the type. Alongside liquor they have regular sodas, tasters, snacks, chips and candies. Super friendly staff, checking with customers if anyone needs assistance. Checkout process is fast and easy. Delivery and online order pick up options also available. They have free membership that provides discounts on selective items. read more

This place is set up to make you want to linger and spend extra. Never-mind the endless selection of booze from hard liquors to wines and beer, that have a full on food section that gives any grocery chain. run for its money. Aside from my 5th of vodka, I actually come here to get my Italian bread because the kid has a soy allergy and I know their daily delivery is all soy free unlike numerous other spots. I think the staff is great. If you need them they're there for advice or expertise and if you don't they don't bother you at all. PROS: Always my one stop shop for all liquor. No matter what type of wine, beer, or hard liquor they have it. Not only that but they have it at the best prices. Most of their staff is very friendly and they are eager to help you out. CONS: As mentioned most of their staff is nice but some aren't. Some don't look like they don't want to be there and anytime I speak to them they give me attitude. This is our go-to liquor store. They have a wide selection of alcoholic. I like that they sell cigars here too whenever I need to pick up for friends. There's one gentleman in there that helps me every time. He is very knowledgeable about beer and spirits. He recommended a few ingredients for the sangria I was making and it turns out amazing every time. Fiancée used online services to try to schedule a pickup. He put it in an order early and was told it should be ready in 2+ hours. He got an email from bottle king saying that it was ready to pick up. He drove there and called from outside where the worker promptly yelled at him saying it's not ready and he shouldn't gone by the email and just waited for them to call. He said ok and went home and waited... all night. He never received the call at that point he was so frustrated he just said to hell with it and took the loss. They never called him back. read more

As I get more and more fed up with Total Wine in Riveredge, I find myself going here. TW suffers due to pushy sales staff and one of the worst parking lots around. This particular Bottle King has a great selection, both wine and beer, with the latter being particularly impressive. Any time I have asked the staff for assistance, they were friendly and informative, unlike that "Lucky Charms" looking chap at TW! Decent selection of cheeses and nosh type foods as well. read more

I don't hand out many 5 star reviews , but, this Bottle King never disappoints. Patty, Charlie, and the rest of the staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful. Their selections of beer, wine, and liquor are quite extensive without being overwhelming and their prices are the best around (comparison shop, I have). In the wine dept they have some fine selections for every budget, from the higher end Cabs and Bordeaux down to the sub $10 finds, which, BTW, we never pass up (you never know when you'll find a hidden gem, just ask my wife). The liquor selections are also very vast and ever changing. Beer choices are pretty solid as well here, but, imho, they can probably improve in this area. Who wouldn't enjoy more craft brew choices. The expansion of their charcuterie department, cheeses, salami and such was a welcome addition. And don't forget to pick up a loaf of the heavenly Brooklyn Bread they carry on the weekend. If there is something in particular you're searching for and can't find just ask, and if they don't have it in stock they may be able to order it for you, we've done it with great success. We've been shopping this location since it was Brewers World (as a matter of fact I still often refer to it as such) and it is still our go to liquor store. The a Bottle King in Dumont is my new go-to spot! This place is simply the best. We ordered a bunch of kegs for a party that had to be special ordered. Ken was the manager that was helping us and he was just great! Knowledgeable, professional and really nice. Patty the store manager was really on top of things too when she called to let us know kegs were in and followed up a few times. Even Dan... THE DISTRICT MANAGER... was helping out. All questions were answered and no stone was left unturned. I would never thing such a large store (and chain) would give such one-on-one attention for a random customer with a small order. I just can't go anywhere else simply based on their impeccable customer service. They have everything you'll ever need. Thx again guys! You're the best! read more

I have been a customer for quite some time. I guess it's because of this that I was hesitant to complain and just wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. About a month ago I purchased some wine. I tried to open the first bottle and the cork just crumbled and crumbled so I gave up and threw the bottle out. About a week later I went to open the second bottle and the same thing happened. This time I brought the bottle back to the store. I showed an employee the wine with the crumbling cork still in it and asked if I could return the wine. I guess I should have been more specific- I didn't mean that anyone had to physically take the wine- I just meant that I thought I should get my money back. All you had to do was look at the cork and see that it was impossible to open. The manager yelled from his perch at the top of the store that "we don't take returns!" I was a little startled that he was yelling down instead of coming down to see what I was talking about. So, I said to the employee who was nice enough to stand and talk to me- that this was the second bottle that I would have to throw out because of the same issue. Again, the manager yelled down from his office "it says right on the bottom of the receipt, no returns" So, at this point I was pretty embarrassed- I wasn't yelling or even complaining- I just expected that if you sell a bad bottle of wine to someone you would reimburse them for the cost. I politely thanked the employee who was trying to help me. I bought a couple of things from the cheese section and I left. I threw the bottle of unopened wine in the garbage outside the entrance. I have to say I am unsure as to why I was treated this way. I never once demanded anything, I didn't get angry, I just simply showed an employee a bottle of wine that I had bought that was bad. I never even addressed the manager because I was embarrassed to be yelling across the store that way. I am not even sure that the manager really understood what I was saying about the wine. Did he think I just didn't like the wine? Could he see from where he was the bottle with the cork crumbling inside it? I have no idea, but I know that I felt that I wasn't going to get anywhere with this manager. Basically, I am left with the knowledge that if you buy a bottle of corked wine from Bottle King and you cannot remove the cork because it is so soft and crumbled it's your tough luck. I guess the message is to only buy screw top bottles of wine. I can live with that. It certainly is not the worst thing that has ever happened to me! lol I just don't like the way that I was treated by the manager. That's all. read more

I think bottle king is a 3.5. A pretty good store with good staff. While they are certainly bigger than most independent liquor stores (mom and pop), when comparing them to the big guys, their selection is actually on the weaker side. Yes, they have a nice selection but comparing others with the same floor space, no. Staff for the most part is friendly. There are a few individuals who shine and there are also a few bad apples. Just like the any place. Nice selection of wines. They have all the usual varietals and all the familiar labels. Their liquor section is solid except on the higher end side -- perhaps there is a problem with theft. The high end stuff is in a little glass case that holds about 20 bottles. So 20 high end bottles is not a lot when those 20 bottles cover the entire spectrum of liquor (vodka, scotch, rum, gin, whiskey, cognac, etc) Some places, like Wine Ventures in Tenafly, devote a whole wall behind the register dedicated to just single malt scotch. I have noticed that sometimes their prices are not that good, which is surprising. But they are usually cheaper than the smaller stores. In terms of beer, there is a good selection at reasonable prices. But I would not say they have an exceptional collection. Go to any common wealth state, Pennsylvania for example, and go to a beer store there. Some are the size of a costco building just with beer. But for those who want a closer example, just go to Total Wine in River Edge. The amount of different beers they have is overwhelming. So again, good selection of beers but when comparing to the big guys, they are on the weaker side. They do have a very nice selection of cheeses, meats, and crackers. They have wine and sometimes beer tastings on Saturdays. They are usually good about special ordering wines but they are not for liquor. I wanted to order a special bottle of liquor ($300) and I was told no. This bottle only comes in once a year and it is first come first serve. Am I suppose to call every day at delivery time to see if you got it in? And if you do, I guess I should leave work to come get it because it might not be there after work. With other stores, I can leave my credit card on file and when it comes in, they charge my card and set it aside. Take note, Bottle King. But if you live close, this is the store you want to go to. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a liquor store. I can help myself to liquor. If I bought too much to carry, I can ask the rest to be set aside and I'll come back for it. The staff is friendly. When I need help sometimes the person is getting spun in a different direction. So what? This store is the town's store. It used to be a different owned store and this store is cleaner, brighter and more organized. It certainly served the community well during the peak of the pandemic days. Contrary to its name, Brewer's World devotes much more floor space to wine. Their weekly specials highlight what is being lauded in the trades... Beer is another story; they seem to specialize in mass-produced American beer, which you can get at great rates. (E.g. Bud, Coors, Miller, Yuengling). Foreign beers include hard to find favorites from Latin America (Hello, Presidente!). Domestics are more regional; like New York micros? This is the place for you. While you can find a broad selection of domestic and foreign beers, micro brews, and liquor, the real gem is the wine. The wine selection is unbelievable for a local "liquor store." They have all the latest popular wines. Their international wine section is great as well. The price range is just as wide as the selection. This place is now a Bottle King. Unbelievable amount of wine, organized logically. You can almost always find something good for not so much $$$. My wife is Gluten-free and they carry Redbridge beer (hard to find) so the beer selection is comprehehnsive. I joined their discount club. The discounts seem great, but i havent used my membership card yet. So i'll let you know soon. Oh yeah. The parking lot is a huge plus, however i couldnt find it the first time and had to walk around the whole building to find the entrance (in the back). So I just went to this location with my husband and baby who I was pushing in a stroller. We purchased a lot of liquor for a party so we actually needed two carts. I kept asking the manager for assistance finding liquor and instead of asking if I needed further assistance he would just walk away. I had to constantly walk around looking for someone for help. At one point our one cart was full to max and I was asking the manager again for assistance. He pointed to where the beer was that we wanted, which was 3 cases of 30 pack beer. As he was ready to walk away I asked if he would be so kind to take the one cart to the front since I had my baby and couldn't manage stroller and cart, he did go get a new cart and took this one. Now it's time to check out. I asked the cashier to get someone to push out one of the two carts we had. Finally I decided that we could just manage pushing two full carts of heavy liquor and the stroller. Mind you the exit is down hill. I don't understand how I had to keep asking for assistance when I was making such a large purchase! 3 bottles of hard liquor, 9 4 liter bottles of wine, 4 30 packs of beer and a 24 pack. They have a good variety of wines here. Not the largest selection but for its size it has a good amount. They also have a nice selection of different liquors and mixes as well as beers. Anything that you want they can probably get if you ask them to get it. They usually can get stuff in pretty quickly. They have pretty good prices for the liquor, beer, and wine. They also have pretty reasonable prices on their kegs. Also they offer a lot of fancy cheeses and crackers for your wine so you can make it a fancy night with a loved one if you are so inclined to do so. The parking lot can get a little hectic sometimes so be careful when walking as well as driving people like to pop out of nowhere. If you have trouble carrying your purchase I have seen them personally carry it out to your car. The staff is pretty friendly and usually doesn't have a problem showing you exactly where the item you are looking for is. read more
