In shades of black, white, grays and creams, it's easy to create an outfit or justify paying a higher price for an item that will be a wardrobe staple or wow for many years. The store itself is designed in the same classic simplicity of the clothing with clean white floors, lots of light, and the clothing simply arranged and styled. Nothing fussy or busy. The cashmere sweaters, capes and shawls were stunning. As were the billowy tunics and pants. Gorgeous fabrics and styles! So much beauty and elegance in one shop! The owner could not have been any nicer. When I told him it was my first time in Cathedral City and shopping on El Paseo, he gave me a history of the area and this shopping Mecca. It was so interesting and informative that I've since shared the history with others! He was super helpful without ever being pushy. A class act. While I didn't purchase anything this particular day - being in month 8 of the Pandemic where wear and lounge wear have become my new uniforms - I will definitely be back to visit Mister Marcus the next time I'm in town. If you're staying close in the area, I recommend walking to the shop as parking can be a challenge on that street. It's a small shop with the main room and a smaller one with a single dressing room in the back. Accessories are housed in the middle of the front room and clothes were arranged by article types and colors. True to the guide, the shop offers many designer name items from Chanel, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, and vintage designers from the 20th century. There weren't many eras called out on the tags like I've seen in other vintage shops where they try to provide shoppers with an idea of what year the piece was made. (Generally you could make a guess based on the style and details of the piece.) Prices seemed a bit high, especially for the condition on a few of the items. I was looking at a wool Celine cardigan but noticed it had damage inside the pocket and had a price of almost $300. The woman running the shop did not greet us, but she was pretty caught up in speaking with another customer who happened to be from Germany.
