It was just a simple calculation in my head because of the El Paseo location and it being not too far from the all-out MAGA Patriot Store. The 'pretty things inside' sidewalk sign caught my attention today and I ventured in with the lowest of expectations. Turns out, my assumptions were way off; the shop has a beautiful aesthetic with thoughtfully curated clothing that captures the L.A. cool vibe that I remember well when I lived there. The clothes are priced appropriately for their quality, to be sure. They are not expensive per se, but you are getting top notch quality for the money. A sweatshirt may be $200 bucks but it is likely the softest one you'll ever own. I loved how the clothes had such a luxe, soft touch to them. There were some summery white clothes that were chic but I don't know how you could wear underwear underneath them that doesn't show, but that's not my concern. I was greeted when I walked in, checked on while shopping in a friendly way, and not stalked which I also appreciated. I ventured upstairs to the home goods department (I think she said) and found lots of mystical items and books that I was fascinated with. I don't hold any beliefs on tarot, astrology and the like, but I found this display charming and I picked up a few 'starter kits' just for fun. Checkout was pleasant and my purchases were wrapped in tissue and placed in a lovely bag. After my visit I scanned through some of the Yelp reviews and was surprised to see someone complaining about the customer service or that they had to ask for a bag or whatever. And that they didn't know you could only exchange for a store credit - Girl, there is a sign right there next to the payment machine. I'll be back for sure and would highly recommend Blonde to all blondes, brunettes, redheads and ravenhaired.

The owner was super friendly and I really enjoyed her enthusiasm for the clothing she offers. There were other ladies there having a ball trying on a bunch of clothes, and when one emerged wearing a maroon and white long toile dress, I had to let her know she looked gorgeous. The prices are super reasonable for the uniqueness and nice quality of the fashions sold here. I will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, from the moment I walked in, I felt unwelcome and like I was being watched the entire time. At first, I tried to brush it off and thought maybe I was just overthinking it. What really changed that for me was when I went to leave. I said "thank you" and walked toward the door, only to find that the door had been locked and I couldn't freely exit. That was extremely uncomfortable and honestly made me feel like my initial impression wasn't just in my head. As someone who works locally and has many clients in the Palm Springs area, I'm always happy to support and recommend local businesses. I actually came in thinking this could be a place I'd shop at and refer clients to, but after this experience, unfortunately, I won't be doing either. Everyone deserves to feel welcome and comfortable when simply walking into a store to shop. -Aubrey McQueen

It was not exactly me, but, I did appreciate the aesthetic. Really chic and laid back cool. I liked a pair of faded Levi's jeans for around $250 (?) but just didn't want them enough to try them on. (just being honest) The whole time I was there I never saw a sales person in the store the entire time, which kind of made me feel like I should stay longer to make sure that no one steals anything! I would shop here again to see what they sell in the fall.

The clothing, textiles, handbags, shoes and accessories are all in soft neutral colors, many with texture to give them that next level appeal. Think creams, oatmeal, blush, tan, camel, gray, black - it's all so soothing and easy to mix and match to create outfits that are both easy to wear and polished. My favorite item was the handbags! They are displayed in the window and they are the reason I walked in. They didn't disappoint! Designed and made by Oliveve, the leather is scrumptious! I had to look them up online and when their website mentioned they source their leather from Italy and the US, it made sense. There is something about Italian leather that speaks to me! Manufactured outside of NYC, the designs are classic yet unique, and a great addition to anyone's wardrobe. I'm now following them on Instagram. Also loved the pillows and throws! Neutral in color, they had so much texture and pattern they would make an elegant statement in any room while also being functional. The young lady that was working that day, Katelyn I believe, was super helpful and friendly. I like when you can browse at your leisure but have the option of assistance when needed. That is exactly the type of service provided. When looking to enhance your wardrobe, buy a quality handbag or accessorize your home, a stop at the House of Lola should be on your list. We immediately felt like the Oscar's vibe was being celebrated here, with a gloriously outrageous collection of ultra feminine dresses, lingerie, coats and accessories beautifully displayed - with bling, feathers, lace or faux fur adorning most every piece. Large sizes available for the most fabulous of drag queens, too. We had our Coton de Tulear little white dog Chloe with us, and the sales clerk encouraged us to bring her in so we could shop. (Chloe is a diva, OK?) When we got to the back of the store there was a little meeting of sorts going on between the owner and two AH-mazing queens in their 80's relaxing in comfy chairs and telling stories about their days performing drag. We were invited into the mix and the queens told dirty jokes and pet our dog; what a wonderful unexpected surprise. We must have visited with them for 20 minutes or more, thoroughly enchanted. Although we didn't find anything to take home for ourselves, we will always cherish the impromptu experience with some very sassy and classy broads! Be mindful that during the summer they are not open on Wednesdays and other weekdays; check before you go.
