Would highly recommend to anyone in the area. I am white so I have nothing to compare it to, however my Brazilian girlfriend said it was quite authentic. We both enjoyed our meals, they were delicious and the portions were large. Coxinha is a must! Would come everyday if I lived closer.

This was my first time trying Brazilian food so my friends and I were really excited! The server was very friendly and helpful as he gave us some recommendations from the menu. We were able to get a mix of the coxinha (chicken croquettes) and bolinha de queijo (cheese balls), which was nice as we didn't know the option was available (the menu serves each item in orders of 10 pieces but we were able to get 5 of each). Between the two, I liked the bolinha de queijo more; the cheese pull was insane and it's also seasoned with spices so it's extra flavorful. Since we went during happy hour, we got the calabresa, which was made up of sausages and kale, served with fries. For mains, we got the feijoada and picanha. We shared everything between four people and were really full. I'd definitely come back for their bolinha de queijo.

Have you tried Brazilian Cuisine? This was my first time trying Brazilian cuisine with my bestie and we totally got the Brazilian vibes at Boteco Brasil. We went for happy hour and it wasn't busy. The sizzling hot plate was a good choice to share but I found it a bit too salty. I liked that my friend could eat the steak medium rare and I left the steak on the hot plate longer for medium! You can also combine the croquette flavours to get a variety. There's a patio out front which looks like a great hang out place in the summer. On the table: Picanha na Chapa - 10oz steak served on a hot skillet with sautéed cassava in butter, garlic, vinaigrette, and farofa. Serves two people. 32 Bolinha de Queijo - Crispy potato-based croquette stuffed with mozzarella cheese and oregano. Bolinho de Bacalhau - Croquettes made of shredded Cod, mashed potato dough, green olives and cilantro. 2 of each 11.50 Polenta - Fries made of ground cornmeal with vegetable broth. Served with garlic aioli dip. 11.50 Caipirinhas (40%) 1oz of Cachaca 51, white sugar, ice, muddled and shaken with your choice fruit: Lime, Cashew, Passion Fruit, Mango or strawberry 9.95

We came on a Sunday for lunch. Not a lot of people so lots of places to sit. We ordered the coxinha, cod cake, Bobo shrimp, stroganoff, trinhas de carne (beef) and the pudding de leche. We've never had Brazilian food before so we didn't know what to expect. Amongst the fried items we had, we enjoyed the cod cake the most. It was crispy and I could taste the bacalhao inside. Not overly salty Out of the mains that we had the Bobo shrimp was our favourite. Very creamy and decadent. It goes really well with the rice. The trinhas de carne was a bit overcooked and chewy but had a strong beefy flavour which I enjoyed. The fries on the side tasted identical to the fries I get from Costco with my hot dog (which I also enjoy) The pudding de leche wasnt overly sweet. Very bouncy but not a lot of egg flavour. Wouldn't get it again Overall cute little Brazilian restaurant. I don't know if it's an accurate representation of Brazilian food but I know that the service is super sweet and friendly. The atmosphere is very neighbourhood friendly - here to enjoy and relax vibes. They also have live music on some nights so you can look out for that and enjoy as well

Coxinha is a must order! Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. Delicious dipping sauce.

A decent spot in the area. The value is great for what you get; the beef was tender and seasoned well. Service is friendly and the food was served quickly.

I love this restaurant. I'm new to Brazilian cuisine and was nervous about ordering from here via Uber eats. But I'm was so surprised how good the food was. I loved the Beiiinho, Brigadeiro, Coxinha, Pastels, Feijoada / Feijão. The steak was amazing too. Overall it was all fantastic - although I think ordering at lunch time is much better because when I ordered the Feijoada at dinner it only came with one slice of sausage in the whole bowl... usually there are several pieces in the bowl.

Good Brazilian food!!! I would definitely recommend this place. Pretty big portion and tastes very good. The coxinha omg it was really food. I would definitely come back here so many times to get this snack. Cheers!

    Feijoada Vegana

Having discovered that they have vegan options, I decided to try them out. I'd never had Brazilian food before, so this is a pretty rookie review in that sense. I ordered their Feijoada Vegana ($19 plus tax), and it was ready waiting for me 20 minutes later. The heart of the dish is a black bean stew with plant-based meat. The stew was very hearty, coming with black beans (duh), zucchini, and only a few pieces (2-3) of plant-based sausage. The dish comes with white rice, sauteed kale that was deliciously garlicy, a simple salsa, and a puzzling cassava flour that I didn't see the point of. The stew wasn't particularly enthralling, especially given the lack of plant-based meat; it has a nice sort of smoky richness, but is otherwise not all that interesting. Other than that, nothing else in the dish is very interesting. I'm not sure I'd return given the rather underwhelming main part of the dish I ordered. Value for money, it's OK, in the sense that I was full; but you just don't get a very interesting meal IMO. I don't know if that's a trait of this dish, that this is a vegan version, or this restaurant. Regardless, it's worth trying if you're vegan and curious about Brazilian food, as I was, but it's nothing special ultimately.

Ordered from here today, and boy were we impressed! My partner lived in Brasil for a year and is often craving their street food. We ordered the heart of palm Empada, Pão de Queijo, Pastel -queijo and Mandioca frita... not the healthiest but definitely a much needed end of the week boost! Everything tasted fresh and as per my partner, very authentic. Also so impressed to see so many vegetarian options on their menu. Cannot wait to fo there in person and try everything again! Would recommend!

Served with fries, potato salad, salsa, and cassava. I also had the coxinha (chicken filled croquettes) and kibe com queijo (ground geef adn bulgur wheat croquette with melted cheese). The coxinha were tasty and hit the spot. The kibe was surprisingly mostly just cheese inside. The kibe traditional might be a better option. Wouldn't mind coming back to try more dishes. They sell a bunch of Brazilian snacks but overall the inside of the store looked worn out. We came in on a Sunday morning and no one was at the front. I rang the bell and a young girl came to take our order. She was sweet but looked very stressed. She ran to the back and was on the phone with her boss frantically asking for help. She then came running out and told us it'll be a wait because she needs to get a big order out. I replied no problem and went to grab a seat. After awhile I rang the bell again and asked for a refund and said I would return another time. The girl said she could make the food now. The next few minutes all we heard was the microwave constantly going off and it was clear nothing was made fresh. Feijoada: apparently this is their most popular dish and I liked the vibrant colours. However the pork was overcooked and nothing tasted fresh except for the slice of orange. Strogonoff: the creamy sauce was not bad but it was so salty we were really thirsty after. The chicken was overcooked. Coxinha: I was excited to try tradition Brazilian croquettes but these were clearly frozen and again didn't taste fresh.

It looked like a coffee shop with their drinks and cakes, but also serves some Brazilian staples (feijoada, coxinha etc.). The theme is definitely on the casual side. There is a nice small covered patio in front. My biggest complaint was that the service was just atrocious. When I walked in, there was 1 customer in front of me. She was jabbering with the staff in Portuguese. The staff (both of them) saw me standing there and just ignored me. After a minute, I grabbed a menu off the table and stood there holding it. They looked at me again and kept on chatting with that customer. After a few minutes, another (3rd) customer arrived. This customer was confused too, as she couldn't tell if there was a lineup, since I was just standing around staring at the gaggle behind the counter. She then stood behind me and also waited for a few minutes, while the staff continued to ignore both of us. Total wait time was 12-13 minutes(!) before someone behind the counter decided to acknowledge our existence. Considering there were a total of 3 customers (not including a small group already seated), this is quite unacceptable. It was like the staff were there to socialize. The staff are obviously local Brazilians, as the cashier didn't have the best English. He didn't know what decaf was. Fortunately I had Google Translate. I ordered a flat white. They make this thing automatically with the push of a button. In other words, the coffee machine is similar to those found at car dealerships. I guess the redeeming factors was that the coffees here are quite inexpensive, and the flat white tasted decent for a generic coffee. My other complaint is that the cakes aren't made in house. Looks like they're made by a local bakery (Sinatra's). Price is definitely on the high side, but the carrot cake I had was very decent. I really wanted to like this place, but honestly have trouble recommending it. The service was atrocious, the coffees are office/gas station grade, and the cakes can just be obtained directly from the bakery supplier. Guess I'm going elsewhere for my next coffee/dessert fix.

" A HIDDEN GEM BURSTING WITH FLAVORS"…read more From the moment we walked in the SMELLS were enchanting songs to our nostrils. We were immediately greeted by staff and sat at a table to view the menu. Now let's be honest. We were tourist just leaving a cruise ship and looking for some good homecooked southern food. Although we reside in Texas, we are originally from New Orleans, La and my boyfriend is a CHEF. I am the foodie and he is the professional chef so restaurants don't stand a chance with our taste buds. Majid (OWNER) & Hamed are absolutely amazing. We were greeted and provided the warmest welcome with descriptions of the menu in detail. Being from the SOUTH were expecting that they were not aware of our cuisine. I was all the way wrong. 1st CHOICE - the Whole Slab of pork ribs tender and falling off of the bone, The flavor was absolutely amazing. It taste as great as MEMPHIS and TEXAS barbecue. I was impressed with the flavor and burst of seasonings that reminded me of a grill and smoked meat. There were 6 pieces with half of slab and 12 pieces with a whole slab. We literally could not even eat all of it. The plate also contained 4 ounces of barbecue sauce, 4oz of barbecue baked beans, 4 oz. of Cole slaw, full serving of coleslaw and a slice of cornbread ( I prefer homemade, hot and buttery flavor on top with serving). The beans were okay but I have had better. The barbecue sauce was not the best to me as well but the food was so good I was not bothered by it. 2nd CHOICE was slices of Moist brisket with charred ends that were so exhilarating it taste like it come straight from the smoker to my table. Every piece of meat was fresh as if they just cooked it for us. The same sides as above came with this plate also except we choose FRESH CAJUN FRIES in addition. They were flavorful and fresh. So we had two servings of each where as we did not need to share the sides. 3rd CHOICE, - Now I must admit, I was in between the macaroni and cheese and the jambalaya. Hamed was very informative in describing it in detail and convincing as it is one of the best sellers. The menu described it as SAUSAGE, SHRIMP AND PULLED CHICKEN, SERVED WITH GREENS AND CORNBREAD. Once it arrived to the table it had a very strange white sauce poured over the rice. This is not described on the menu and it is not a traditional sauce for jambalaya. MY ADVICE INFORM PATRONS OF THIS ADDITION TO THE DISH BECAUSE THIS IS NOT AN INGREDIENT IN CAJUN JAMBALAYA DOWN SOUTH or PLACE ON MENU IN DESCRIPTION. Also the menu describes as greens on plate, and greens is listed on the menu but once asked we were told this is green salad not collard greens. It literally was a small portion of lettuce with no dressing so this needs to be addressed as well. OVERALL , I STILL GAVE A FIVE STAR REVIEW BECAUSE THE FOOD WAS ON POINT FOR BEING LOCATED IN THIS VANCOUVER CANADA. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED AND I HAVE TO ADMIT MAJID (OWNER) CAN WIN A COUPLE OF COOKOFFS THAT FOOD WAS DELICIOUS I ALSO NEED TO ADD THE HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS OF MAJID. I watched him walk to each table and ask how was the food and greet all of the guest. He provided us with a souvenir to remember our visit. I almost want to fly out again to eat there and fly back home. TWO DRINKS COST - $98.50 American Dollars VS $135.60 CANADIAN DOLLARS

Cafe Algarve - Not a good photo, but you get the idea: the cafe, Commercial Drive (crossing), and the rapid transit on its trestle beyond.

It is, as others have said, a neighborhood grocery store / cafe that is unmistakably and authentically Portuguese. Its name, Cafe Algarve, refers to the beachy area in the south of Portugal. However, a poster map of Baixa Pombalina, the Baixa district of Lisbon rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake under the direction of the Marques de Pombal, will be looking at you from the cash register. Locals coming from Portugal definitely frequent this business, close to the intersection of Broadway and Commercial Drive, and many speak in their native language. The owners and the patrons are very friendly. One should stop by to try a pastry and some coffee ... or tea. Also, if you've ever tried, and liked, Sumol, the Portuguese soft drink which comes in orange, pineapple, and passion fruit, you can buy it here. You can also buy other groceries. I recommend coming in the morning for the pastry and coffee. The pastries are pasteis de nata, the traditional Portuguese custard tarts "born" in Lisbon's Belem district, and it's impossible to eat just one. So, for an inexpensive pastry and coffee, meeting some nice folks from across the Atlantic, and doing something atypical while in Vancity, check this place out.

Cafe Algarve - Their sidewalk "sandwich board" type sign. Note the coffee and pastry special. That's about $1.25 for Americans!
