Botánico is on many lists for must-try in CDMX. The setting is stunning with a really gorgeous garden, but the food was overpriced. This was our most expensive meal in CDMX and we didn't even order as much as we did elsewhere. There is a limited cocktail menu, they have a great wine list though. Our cocktails were pretty average so I would stick to wine if I were to visit again. Personal favorites were the short rib and fennel salad. Overall this was a fun spot but not "wow" enough to justify our high bill.

Botánico was an absolute delight. One of my favorite restaurants in CDMX so far for a multitude of reasons ranging from ambience, attentive service, and of course the fresh seasonal ingredients that shine in each of the unique combinations on their menu I hit the point in vacation where I was starting to miss having a variety of fresh F/V in the diet and Botánico offered a fun menu of salads, cold/hot starters and entrees that fit the bill nicely. Each dish was exceptionally well crafted. Different textures and flavor combinations were layered in a very nuanced way that never left you questioning what it is the chef was trying to highlight or question what it is you were tasting Portions were perfect for the solo diner or would recommend order an amalgam of starters to share family style for a group! Will definitely be back one more time before the end of this trip

Such a gorgeous ambiance and cool vibe. Service was great and very efficient. The tuna tostada is a must try!!

Beautiful ambiance, food was either decently good or a huge miss. We ordered the Manguito cocktail, the fried calamari with "oriental" sauce, a hamburger, and risotto. Manguito (3/5): what could've been an excellent cocktail (cardamom, mango, and passion fruit and whiskey) ended up being an excellent soda as we could not taste the whiskey whatsoever. I tried telling myself that maybe it was just diluted - but whiskey has a strong flavor so I'm convinced that the bartender forgot to add liquor at all. Fried calamari (1/5): a truly terrible dish - the "Oriental" sauce, as it turned out, was a bad version of a sweet and sour sauce that was so overly acidic and overwhelming one couldn't tell that it was calamari. I could barely finish the dish until I removed the breading and just ate the squid underneath. Risotto (4/5): the bar was already low, so this was a pleasant surprise. It was really creamy, topped with sliced jalapeño and cucumbers. Hamburger (4/5): Perfectly cooked burger with bacon, two kinds of cheese, and a pickle. The dairy was a bit much but overall good. Sourdough (5/5): hate to say this, but might've been the best thing we ate. The bread came out warm, and the cheese spread was lightly salted. Fire

This place is incredible -- you need to try it. Firstly, the cocktails are incredible. I started with a Negroni (my way to gauge how well the bartender can balance flavors in a very traditional drink). It was perfectly balanced and passed my test. Their craft cocktail menu is worth a look. The food was phenomenal. Favorites were the tuna tostada and the agnolotti with morels. We tried some other dishes which were also very good. The garden ambiance, surrounded by their cacti, really adds to the charm. We went for a 2pm lunch, but I'm also told that this place can get pretty wild on weekend evenings.

    Beautiful courtyard seating.

In A Nutshell: -Botanico is a really lovely upscale place to grab lunch in Condesa. -I love the outdoor garden seating w/ the 100 year old cacti towering above the courtyard along w/ the small pond. -The service here is very good. -The food is all top-notch in regards to both taste & presentation. -I highly recommend ordering the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Fish Tiradito & the Agnolotti Pasta. -Each one of those dishes are delicious, you won't want to waste a drop. Overall, I will definitely come back to eat here the next time I visit CDMX!

I'm surprised there isn't more on here for this place besides the one star review. And since that reviewer didn't even eat here I feel the need to offer some redemption. First off - very friendly and attentive staff. Some English to balance our basic Spanish. The special cocktails are worth asking about if you are curious but intimidated by the exotic ingredient. The menu is very approachable with some clever local variations on familiar dishes. I would order the tuna tostadas every day if I could. The garden is a wonderful setting in which to enjoy it all as well. Fantastic. Staff ***** Ambiance ***** Drinks ***** Food ***** Music *****

botánico was everyones favorite dinner we went to in cdmx. the ambiance is beautiful night or day. the plants and cacti are stunning. the menu is small but thats part of what makes it nice. they are using seasonal ingredients for maximum freshness. the service was amazing as well. everyone spoke great english here. the tuna tostada & cauliflower starters were fantastic. the cauliflower is seriously to die for. we ordered a fish, veal, and the burger for our mains. also, they take allergies serious here which is very nice. highly reccomend!

This place is a hidden gem and it checked all the boxes for me. I didn't read the reviews on this place till we left and I'm honestly shocked at all the negative comments. I'm just going to chalk it up to them being a newer spot. The ambiance is so special, it's giving hidden garden while still maintaining the native foliage of Mexico. The service was top notch the only thing we found funny was the waiter had broken English (which is expected and my fiancé is fluent in Spanish) and whenever we spoke to our server we would speak Spanish and he would only respond in English. We then transferred over to English and he couldn't understand us. Not a big deal we just thought it was a bit funny. The food was spectacular, we went a little crazy here and orders a bunch of items. All of the food was perfect and we honestly wish we had made another reservation for a second night. We will absolutely be back to try more items and reorder some of our favorites.

We then kicked things off with the arancini, which set the tone right away--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. For mains, we shared a spread and honestly couldn't pick a favorite: the Octopus Tacos were tender and packed with flavor, the Rabbit Tacos were unique and delicious, and the roasted seasonal vegetables "al mojo de ajo" were simple but so satisfying. The marinated pan-fried salmon and fresh trout were both beautifully cooked and thoughtfully seasoned. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully presented and well executed. But the real showstoppers were the desserts. The fresh goat cheesecake with orange, grapefruit, and lemon was bright and perfectly balanced, and the whisky chocolate crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Desserts truly knocked it out of the park. Bonus points for the cocktails--my hubby was a huge fan. Great food, great drinks, excellent service and relaxed ambiance made for a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend adding Temporal to your Mexico City dining list.

Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...

What really says it all? We loved it so much, we went back the very next day. This was the only restaurant we repeated during our week-long stay, which should tell you everything. The menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated--fresh, flavorful, and something for everyone. We tried the croissant sandwich, salmon deli nut sandwich, chutney mango deli sandwich, santos ahogados, fig chipotle deli sandwich, pear honey deli sandwich, and the spicy tuna deli sandwich. The sandwiches came with a standard simple salad. Every single item was delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying in that "clean but filling" way. The tables had two delicious spicy chili oil like condiments which elevated each of these dishes. And the juices--WOW. So refreshing, vibrant, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The perfect complement to the food and ideal for starting (or resetting) your day. If you're visiting Mexico City, Ojo de Agua is an absolute must. With such a wide menu, you're guaranteed to find something you'll love--and very likely come back for more. Highly recommend!

We tried a few juices, the chicken tomato salad and the salmon tacos. The salad was huge with a big portion of chicken, avocado and many toppings for a reasonable price. The tacos were smaller but flavorful. Taking off a star because my salad arrived almost 15 minutes before my boyfriend's tacos arrived and the restaurant was pretty empty. The lights were out in the bathroom and in part of the restaurant, so not sure if they were dealing with a partial power outage and impact to the kitchen. Still recommend for the food!
