Phenomenal food, great ambiance, attentive service, and excellent espresso martinis. I came here for my 39th birthday and at the end of the meal they brought me a dessert with ice cream and a candle. I liked everything I tried here. You can make a reservation on Open Table. Would definitely come back.

Máximo was one of my favorite restaurants during our trip. Every dish was delicious! I'm glad it was our last meal before heading back to the States. When you first enter the restaurant you are able to take a glimpse into the kitchen on your left and a display of their meats. The hostesses were very welcoming and accommodating of the luggage we had to bring with us. At first we were going to order the tasting menu, but opted for ordering a few dishes as a table to share instead. I highly recommend doing the same especially if you want to try some items not on the tasting menu. The jamon iberico is a must as an appetizer! It brought back great memories of my travels in Barcelona. Be sure to book your reservation via Open Table.

Had high hopes but it just missed the mark. I loved the ambience- the place is very cute. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Best way to go is ordering a bunch between people. The "apps" were by far the best part so the meal started really high but then went downhill. The beet salad was good- the Smokey flavor was liked by some but not others Burrata was just okay - nothing to write home about The baby corn was the highlight of the meal- it was amazing and I could eat that every day of my life. The plantain and macadamia and truffle dish was good but more of a dessert- it was sweet, warm, and well cooked - but again- an odd dish to have mid meal. Not very truffly which was good. Roasted cauliflower was good as well. Solid dish. Then it went down hill... Truffle risotto was a major disappointment. Lacked flavor and texture. Ravioli was eh. Same- not a great flavor and needed more textures. Fun presentation tho. Mahi mahi was too fishy. Tagliatelle was the best of the main courses but was very average The goat cheese ice cream was too goat cheese forward. Cheesecake and mango sorbet was ok- the cheesecake was very airy, light and I liked it better than most cheesecakes in the states.

Standing Ovation! I came to a late birthday dinner at Maximo on a Saturday night. We arrived on schedule for our 9:30 reservation and were asked to be seated in the lobby while the table was set. The space is amazing. Upon entry we walked down the long corridor past the window lined, bustling kitchen. Once we were seated we all admired the thoughtful table placements at each seat, decorative plates, napkins, candles and artistic glasses. The architecture inside was quite creative (vaulted ceiling inside of a former shipping container with rustic decor throughout). Due to having a large party we didn't get to select what we wanted to eat but instead enjoyed a curated family style menu. Each and every course was well planned and balanced with variety of dishes. Some of my favorites were the octopus, ceviche, onion dip with fresh rolls, eggplant spread with brioche rolls, the red snapper and the brick oven chicken. I also enjoyed that there was a small amount of broccolini and spinach offered towards the end of the meal, I would have liked more vegetables throughout the meal and/or with the dishes. By the time the dessert arrived we were all far past full so we couldn't fully enjoy. I had one cocktail, a mezcal Paloma that wasn't the best I didn't taste the mezcal or the Paloma it was quite bland. The service and food at Maximo deserved a standing ovation, if I'm ever in Mexico City again I would definitely return.

Maximo was a culinary highlight during my trip to CDMX. We did the tasting menu and everything was fantastic! The feel of the restaurant was very intimate without being overly decorated. The service was swift and timely enough to provide us with our dishes with sufficient time between those delicious bites.

Absolute must try if you're in cdmx and can snag a reservation! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We tried: - sweet onion and cruffin (so so good) - lamb birria (soooo good) - oxtail ravioli (loved it carbonara style) - beef tongue (very good but I was so full by this point) Drinks were also delicious. It's such a open airy vibe and super intimate. Highly recommend if you're in the city!

My husband and I had two reservations to choose from a 10:45pm on and a 3:30pm one - we chose the latter and God willing the hostess said our table was ready early! The interior of this space is post modern and very well curated between rustic and gourmet. The Sweet Onion was accompanied by an incredible croissant-like roll. I ate this slowly as the tastes were incredible. My main course was the Cauliflower Pinenut Almond Mole with a beautifully blended vinaigrette. Impeccably curated and while paired with a Vino Tinto from the Chihuahua region of Mexico - they sell it by the glass so I recommend you drink two of these during the meal. As for cocktails ( pre-dinner ) Was a pink beauty and should precede or follow up this wonderful meal - I loved it and will definitely be back to enjoy this wonderful menu that Maximo has assembled with love! Gracias!

Get the tasting menu. Everything is fantastic. Pretty much every modern cooking technique performed to perfection. So many different tastes, all fantastic. Come hungry especially if you eat all the carb dishes. I had to give up finishing everything midway through. Fantastic service. My only knock is bottled water. Fine dining restaurants should have enough water purification capacity to offer customers purified water in this day and age

I really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. We did not have to wait long after arriving at our reservation time. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed the ox tongue dish.

We wanted to step out of the norm while in Mexico City. Not that we had our fair share of tacos, but looking for something different and we definitely found it at Maximo Bistrot. Even before you enter through the doorway, you see a beautiful site of dry aged meats including beef and duck. The candlelight on your table adds to the ambiance of what looks like a converted, tin roof garage. Although we would have loved to say yes to everything on the menu, we saw the generous portion sizes and opted to get just the right amount of food. From the smoked eggplant and fresh baked bread to the burnt vanilla ice cream on French toast, everything was excellent! The wood fired Wagyu was one of the most tender pieces of meat I have ever had. Next time, I am going to ask to put the onion jus on the side so that the true flavor of the Wagyu comes through. Overall an excellent meal! Ambiance 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Service 10/10 Bathrooms 10/10 Value 9/10 Food 10/10 Will I Return? Yes!

chicken liver and foie gras parfait with peach puree and champagne gelée

TLDR: perhaps it was an off day, but didn't think what we ordered impressed us too much. Service was also extremely slow and a table next to us was seated after us, but then paid and left before us. Saw Máximo on 50 Best and was super excited to try it; everything that we've experienced so far on 50 Best in CDMX have been some of the best restaurants that we've ever been to (and we eat a lot). We were told to order about 5-6 dishes on the menu for two hungry guys so we got 4 small plates and two larger ones to share. Of the dishes that we ordered, our two favorites were the chicken liver and foie gras parfait with peach purée and champagne gelée, and the beer braised wagyu tongue with mole de olla and cactus. We also found the goat cheese ice cream with guava and olive oil dessert to be extremely interesting as well and I'm not even a goat cheese fan. Besides these things that I've listed, I've had better iterations of them at other restaurants or felt that they looked better than they tasted. I'll say that 6 dishes and a dessert was way too much for two people. Perhaps the waiter just wanted to make sure we had enough to eat, but the portion sizes were much larger than I had anticipated. Also, starting with the foie parfait was a great decision, but I didn't think about how rich that would be. If you decide to start with the foie parfait, consider decreasing the amount of dishes you order, especially if it's just for two people. In order to ensure you get to order everything you want, I also suggest not reserving after 8 as we did; many of the menu items we wanted were unavailable and they had to substitute a couple ingredients which I think affected our experience. The restaurant itself was very attractive and great for dates, however, service was extremely slow. There multiple times that we thought that they forgot about us. We also asked for water about 5 times before they finally gave us more and it took about 45 minutes for them to give us our check. Not happy about that. There was also a table of about 20 people next to us that were belligerently drunk and disruptive. While this isn't the fault of the restaurant, I don't recommend Maximo if this is the typical environment. Overall: my least favorite "best 50" restaurant in CDMX. Maybe the tasting menu is the way to go?

We had dinner at Maximo when we were in Mexico City for a week earlier this month. They offer a tasting menu, but as we were planning on doing a few tasting menus during our week in CDMX, I appreciated that they offer a la carte ordering as well. First off, the restaurant is gorgeous. It felt like we were having dinner in a midcentury airplane hanger with a tree growing inside?! I don't know if that makes any sense, but it was a surprise when I walked in that door - WOW. Modern, cool, beautiful. We had a reservation, but our table wasn't quite ready/available when we got there. Luckily, they have a really nice area to sit while you wait - a comfy couch, too - and we ordered some cocktails. But we didn't wait long at all! Our meal started with their complimentary bread with charred eggplant, goat cheese, and olive oil (delicious). We also shared: Sonora scallops aguachile with avocado and tostadas (again, delicious); tagliatelle with beef tail ragu and parmesan (delicious - sensing a pattern?); lamb birria sincronizada (still delicious); red wine braised Wagyu beef cheek with a side of mushrooms (no surprise here - delicious). So, yeah, the food was delicious. The service wasn't the best when we visited. We had to ask several times for the check, and other than the staff that brought our dishes to the table, we didn't have any chat with our main waiter/server. But it was still a very good experience overall. Overall, the food was really excellent, and I would definitely visit again on another trip to Mexico City. I might even try that tasting menu next time!

We then kicked things off with the arancini, which set the tone right away--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. For mains, we shared a spread and honestly couldn't pick a favorite: the Octopus Tacos were tender and packed with flavor, the Rabbit Tacos were unique and delicious, and the roasted seasonal vegetables "al mojo de ajo" were simple but so satisfying. The marinated pan-fried salmon and fresh trout were both beautifully cooked and thoughtfully seasoned. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully presented and well executed. But the real showstoppers were the desserts. The fresh goat cheesecake with orange, grapefruit, and lemon was bright and perfectly balanced, and the whisky chocolate crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Desserts truly knocked it out of the park. Bonus points for the cocktails--my hubby was a huge fan. Great food, great drinks, excellent service and relaxed ambiance made for a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend adding Temporal to your Mexico City dining list.

Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...
