If I could give no stars I would…read more My son went to Dr. Harper's office with a very apparent abscess. His face was swollen very badly. He had been in her office last year and was told there was nothing that they could see that was a problem. He knew there was a problem and tried to go to another dentist, but being young and not knowing how insurance works, the dentist he tried to go see told him they didn't take his insurance but they gave him an antibiotic to take. He took the meds and the issue went away, but it came back with a vengeance last Wednesday (5/29/19). He called Dr. Harper's office even though he really didn't want to, but at least he was an established patient. They didn't act as of there was any urgency and told him to come in at 11:00 Thursday morning. I got a call from that night saying they "forgot" Dr. Harper wouldn't be in the office until Monday. How do you forget that? I asked if they had a dentist that was on call in the event of an emergency and was told they did. I advised my son to go to an urgent care because he had trouble sleeping the night before because he was in pain. He went and they doctor at urgent care saw immediately that there was a serious issue and prescribed him a pain med and an antibiotic. At least this got something started, right? My son went to his appointment and with a very badly swollen face, they didn't see it as an emergency and didn't call the dentist that was on call for them. They made him an appointment for Monday and told him to come back. Friday morning he wakes up with his face even more swollen and now his eye is swollen almost shut as well. My sister took him to the emergency room where he was seen and they did a CAT scan. He was told that the infection was close to or already in his sinus cavity and if a clot formed and burst it could cause a serious problem...even death. The emergency room called around Beaumont to try to find an oral surgeon who could help my son, but there wasn't one available. Baptist Hospital immediately decided that he needed to go to Galveston where there was a surgeon available. As they were leaving Beaumont, I left Austin to meet them at Jennie Sealy Hospital. He was given IV antibiotics and pain meds and was watched over night, and to allow the swelling go down before surgery. He went into surgery Saturday morning. The surgeon pulled two molars and the wisdom tooth on the top right, and had to drain the infection. When he got back to his room he developed a black eye from the procedure because they had to do so much to the inside of his face. If my son was not living with my sister he may not have known how urgent it was to get somewhere to be seen. I went by Dr. Harper's office before I left Beaumont to get back to Austin. I gave them a piece of my mind. They didn't care about my son. They didn't care enough to get him the kind of help he needed when he needed it. As I was talking I made them look at the picture of my son from Thursday morning. I kept my composure all weekend because I had to take care of my son, but I let them have it in that office. Upon hearing that I went and chewed them out, my mother AND my mother-in-law both told me that they have had bad experiences with this office. Both said the treatment they have gotten was bad, with my mother-in-law saying they broke a crown on a tooth not once, but twice and one time she was in that office for six hours because of their incompetence. Find another dentist in Beaumont, this one is not worth the ink on her diploma and her staff sucks. They were whispering about me while I was standing just outside the window at the desk and I told them to just keep talking because nothing that they thought was as bad as what I think about them.

Dr. Harper and her staff are excellent, I went in for an upper and lower crown both in the same…read moreday. Their state-of-the-art equipment allowed them to digitally complete a 3-D scan of my teeth and using their in-house CNC machine, create the best replica of my teeth possible - they feel like my original teeth. Dr. Harper's attention to detail and concern for my comfort made me feel like I was the most important patient she was seeing that day. The whole process only took 3.5 hours and I couldn't be happier with their professionalism and patient care.

I sent my 3 minor children to Dr. William Nantz today for cleanings, I had to work so their…read moregrandmother took them. when my 15 yr old son gets home he asked me if its normal for a dentist to ask a lot of personal questions or make comments? I said personal questions and comments like what? He said the woman that was working on his mouth pointed out the fact that he has one earring and "back in her day that meant you were gay, and that his hair is big and only people like will smith had hair like that. (Not sure wth she was implying, BUT IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE) he then told me she was making comments on his clothes and if he was gonna get a job and where he went to school etc. I was done at the gay part because first why are you talking about sexual orientation, and why to a minor and in a place of business. That's way past inappropriate. So I called the office and asked what her name was, and as I was explaining to one of the woman at the front desk what the problem was I dropped the f bomb, and she hung up on me, I called back and again was hung up on, when I called the 3rd time I asked for the woman's name again and was told due to HIPPA laws they could not disclose the name of a worker, and that if I wanted to get her name I could pay for the children's medical files. I said fine IM ON THE WAY! When I arrived and again asked for the name, I was told I could not have it. I said so when you answer the phone and say "Dr. Nantz office" that doesn't break HIPPA. I'm confused at this point because they are trying to protect that woman but who is protecting my child from this inappropriate conversation, the crossed to many lines and to many boundaries...The woman (hygienist) came out and started to apologize stating "how unprofessional it was for her to say those things, and she did not mean anything by it", ma'am it is too late for that, why would you say that, if this is normal office chit chat you should really reevaluate that. (Had an adult been allowed to sit back there it would have never come out your damn mouth.) I advised the hygienist that I will be filing a complaint, she ran off clearly shaken up, and I asked to speak with Dr. Nantz as again she refused to give her name. So, you're telling me that a person providing medical services to the public, who is "working" on minor children can withhold the "doctors" name? We get to this side office, and I VERY STERNLY said "the woman working on my child was making very inappropriate comments and I would like her name", Nantz PUT HIS HAND IN MY FACE and told me to "just stop" and I mean 2 inches from my nose, I should have slapped him then, but I raised my voice and said DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND IN MY FACE! I then asked for my children's files, I stated that his 2 office workers told me that I could pay for those files, Nantz looked at the big one like "why the hell would you say that"? then he said oh you can have the x-rays. no i want the files and that woman's name. he then got so flustard and so mad he told me to call the board of dentistry and file a complaint and he just walked out and said call the police. BABY CALL THEM!! On my way out the door to wait for the police I saw the Notice of PRIVACY PRACTICES and clearly it says I HAVE A RIGHT TO REQUEST MEDICAL FILES AND INSPECT THOSE RECORDS... The heavy-set office worker said "this is not about being black, my sister-in-law is black, and her name is SHANIQUA" girl shut the heck up this has nothing to do with you this has everything to do with the woman who took it upon herself to have that kind of "small talk" with a CHILD. Not only did she take it upon herself to say what she said to my son she then asked my daughters where we lived and are we moving any time soon I didn't have time to wait for the police because what are they gonna do anyways? And I had to get back to work. I recommend that if you have minor children do not allow them to go to the back alone with any of the staff. Especially if they have one earring and an afro, not only that offensive and inappropriate comments will be made and a child who doesn't really know any better and who is taught to be respectful to adults might now know that a person that they are supposed to be able to trust is crossing boundaries that should not be crossed.
