Stopped in for a treat with my daughter after our errands brought us down Plainfield for once. We were there just before 11am and all of the donuts were sold out, unfortunately. They had other things to choose from to save the day. We opted for a breakfast sandwich, muffin, cookie, and cinnamon roll. The sandwich was just what I wanted and it hit the spot. It's premade and in a heat box thing but it was still pretty good and convenient. The muffin was delicious and my wife loved the cinnamon roll we brought home from her. My daughter loved her "cookie donut" because there was a hole in the middle of it. The dining room was clean and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast sandwiches are one of my favorite foods, so when I find a good one, I get really excited. I was first introduced to the breakfast sandwiches at Bostwick Bakery in Rockford by my high school boyfriend. He didn't last, but I'm so glad that the breakfast sandwiches are still around! They're simple, but so good. You can get egg and cheese, and add bacon, ham, or sausage. The Plainfield location also has something called "The Jeff," which is a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, bacon, ham, AND sausage. The sandwiches are pre-made, but every time I've gotten one, it's still warm and tasty. On my most recent visit, I got one with bacon, and Nate went with sausage. The breakfast sandwiches are made on soft rolls, which I love. They aren't sweet like brioche, and they're never stale or dry. The melty American cheese combined with the salty meat and fried egg is just so classic and delicious. They don't have any condiments on them, but they honestly don't need any. I prefer the bacon over the sausage, but both were very good. I've never gotten anything else at Bostwick Bakery. If you like a good, simple, classic breakfast sandwich, check them out. read more

This location has improved since its opening! They offer a great variety of donuts, from traditional cake and yeast donuts to fun variations of them. Apple fritters are my favorite and they offer many other flavors of fritters too, like an oreo, strawberry, raspberry, and bluberry. They also have other baked goods like bread and cookies for sale too. There are a few tables inside to dine as well if you want to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with your donut or breakfast sandwich. read more

Let me start by saying, I REALLY wanted to love them, but unfortunately didn't even like them. Overall the shop appears clean and staff is friendly, but forego anything sweet! The donuts leave a gross chalkiness in your mouth and taste day old. The cookies are bland as well. I only knew the PB cookie was PB because they told me. I hate to waste, but just not worth the calories when it's so bland. The coffee was good, but the mugs were dusty. Bland walls needing decor. Bostwick, change your recipes and add some decor! Stopped here on a Saturday morning. In the area for a football game. WOW!!!! I can't even say what I love the most. We had muffins, fritters, donuts, egg sandwich. Everything was fresh and SO good. Came in to try their burgers for the first time. Burger could have been better and service could have been a lot better. Ordered the Bostwick Burger which is a two patty, half pounder, and a fountain drink. After paying and going to get my fountain drink, the lady behind the counter then decides to tell me the fountain machine does not work. And then hands me a warm, bottled alternative. When I got my burger it did not have cheese on it. I didn't realize that when I ordered. Would have been better had the lady asked me if I wanted cheese in it. Then I saw someone else get chips with their burger so I asked if chips came with it. She said "yes". Again, this would have been good information to have without me having to dig information out of her. Definitely plenty of food, even for a hungry man. But I doubt I will be back. Too many good options to spend my money. Like Choo Choos for a better burger and way better service. read more

Very disappointed. Went to Bostwick Bakery yesterday and expected to have the same quality as the bakery in Rockford. I went at 8:30 - a normal time to get fresh bakery items. The donuts were so dry, they had to be baked a day or so earlier and sold on Sunday - what a waste of time and money! I bought a dozen for the family and ate one, just gross. No one finished their donut, so threw them all away. I will not be back to this bakery. read more

Came in this morning & purchased three donuts. The long john had absolutely no cream in it (see picture below). When I called to tell them about it, Makenize answered and did not seem interested in making it right. She simply blamed it on someone else and said the donut must have been overlooked while they were making it. Old fashion bakery's seem to have been disappearing. When Bostwick opened up on Plainfield I was ecstatic. Nothing I hate more than a prepossessed donut like you get from Krispy Kreme or Tim Hortons. The sweet rolls, donuts and other pastries are the bomb at Bostwick. Huge apple fritters and bear claws. Everything I have had from Bostwick has been awesome.You can tell they love what they do. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The added touch of serving breakfast sandwiches and having a lunch menu just adds to the experience. All at very affordable prices.
