Extremely unprofessional and misleading experience. Based on my experience -- and many of the other reviews here -- this company seems to rely on questionable and unfair charges. The staff were rude from the beginning, but the bigger issue was the lack of transparency. My car was towed around 7 PM, and nowhere was I clearly told ahead of time that they only accept cash for vehicle release. I took an Uber there that same night expecting to pay, only to be told it was "cash only" for $220. They then told me to use their ATM, which wasn't even working. Because of that, I had no choice but to come back the next day with cash. When I arrived during normal business hours around 4 PM -- less than 24 hours later -- they increased the total to $265 and charged me for an additional day. On top of that, my car had been parked under a tree overnight and came back covered in dirt and debris. Overall, this felt dishonest, poorly managed, and intentionally difficult for customers. I wish i could give them 0 stars. I never write reviews especially bad ones but this scenario deserved one. Josh the tow guy was amazing however the owner RALPH absolutely piece of work. My friend was awaiting AAA and is pregnant which i did not want her sitting in the vehicle so we were waiting in mine which was safely parked. Ralph drove by and called in his truck while knowing AAA was literally waiting to pick up the car and was right behind his truck at the time of arrival. Cambridge police officer was on scene and was allowing AAA to tow the vehicle however Ralph being the money hungry a$$ he is he refused to move his truck so his company got the vehicle. He refused to drop the vehicle after the police officer told him AAA was right there ready to tow it. I requested Josh call the owner (Ralph), speaking with him on the phone he was EXTREMELY Rude and ignorant. Ralph stated he would tow the car to the lot then the AAA truck could take it. Once the officer heard this he told the tow driver for Bostonian that it made no sense and to just drop the car. The only way Ralph would drop it was if he got money in which the officer also said was not necessary since AAA was already there. Finally the office got through to Ralph and they dropped the car allowing AAA to take it from the location it was requested to be towed from after receiving a Venmo payment. Seeing as this company has nothing but bad reviews this confirmed everything that happened with RALPH. Do not do business with this company. And for Ralph , you should not own a business as your customer service/hospitality is severely lacking. You knew you were in the wrong which is why you agreed after speaking with the officer. I'm giving 1 star because this company was dishonest and attempted to charge me well beyond what they were entitled. It is clear that this company takes advantage of people who aren't familiar with the regulations, so please read my story and don't let them scam you. When you get towed by Bostonian or any other tow company, ask them for an itemized list of charges over the phone. Write down exactly what they say. Then, compare with the DPU regulations (linked below). If you aren't sure, consider asking ChatGPT (helped me) or just call the DPU directly. What they are allowed to charge you is very heavily regulated. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF! If you aren't sure and you just want to get your car back, you can always pay and then later file a dispute with the DPU. I will be filing a complaint, here is my story: Over the phone, they quoted me $250. That broke down as follows: $132 for the tow, $35 for one day of storage, $74.80 for a mileage surcharge, and $8.20 in SSC "tax". They stated that the $74.80 broke down to a 17 mile round trip at $4.40/mile. I was towed from Central Square to Alewife....even factoring in the round trip, the total distance could not possibly have been 17 miles. When I calmly pointed this out, the attendant first told me that there was nothing she could do. She said that the owner was the only one who could consider adjustments, and he wouldn't be present until the next day. She also reminded me that if I chose to wait until the next day to discuss the incorrect charge with the owner, the bill would increase by $35 to account for another day of storage. I glumly hung up after telling the attendant that I would be contacting the DPU. By my calculation, I was being over-charged by $70 (based on the DPU fee schedule linked at the bottom of this review). As I began considering my options, I got a call back from Bostonian Towing Service. The attendant told me they had made a mistake, and the round trip from Alewife to Central and back was 9 miles (as opposed to 17). Though I had calculated 6.4 miles, I decided not to further dispute this point. HOWEVER, Bostonian was still attempting to charge me for all 9 miles, when the DPU clearly stipulated that the first 5 miles are to be included free. When I pointed this out, the attendant told me she wasn't sure of the law. I got on my bike and headed to Bostonian. When I arrived at Bostonian, I informed the attendant that they were not entitled to charge me for the first 5 miles, and that I would file a dispute with the DPU if they attempted to do so. This company towed my car from a parking lot. The nearest "no parking" sign was AT LEAST 30 feet away and could not be read from where I was parked. The parking lot was less than a mile from where they took my car, yet they charged me a $35 fuel fee. Unless their trucks run on plutonium, this is predatory behavior. Literally the worst experience I have ever had with a company. My car broke down and AAA sent Ralph from Bostonian Towing. When he showed up my friend had just arrived to help me get things out of the bed of my truck that I had been bringing home. Without warning this man decided to start jacking up my truck. He then yelled at my friend for being too close to the truck where the jack could have crushed her foot, which would have been HIS fault because he had not told us he was doing anything. If he had simply warned us that he was about to try and move the truck that would have been great but obviously that was too much effort for him. Then when he realized the front end was the source of the problem he berated me for not knowing what was wrong with my car. I am not a mechanic, I know some things but it is not my profession and it was night time so I didn't really feel like getting under my truck in the middle if the road to take a look. Finally when he brought it to the drop off location I asked him if he thought he knew what was wrong and then he started yelling at me again before getting in his truck and swiftly driving off without another word. I got a tow from these guys through AAA and had no problems at all. I mean, the standard 1 hour window applies, and they were about 15 minutes later than that, but they called a few times to give me a status and to apologize for being late. I wasn't in a rush, and know how these things work. Driver was super friendly, helpful, and I had to ride a few miles with him and he was good company. The last thing you need when your car is a mess is a rude tow truck driver; I was happy this guy was so nice. Dropped me off at the garage and was on his way. DO NOT USE! The service was questionable in many ways. WAIT TIME UNRELIABLE: They automatically give an ETA of 1 hour. With this understanding, once an hour passes, most people would call to see if things are going as communicated. When I called to check, I was rudely told that "we'll be there when we get there". Keep in mind that it is frigid. I remained calm and waited patiently as I do understand that holiday traffic can be hectic; however, I wasn't anticipating a 1.5 hr wait time, in addition to more BS. It's been a month since my tow & I've tried to get an itemized receipt from them but have had 0 luck. They've claimed that the "office manager who deals with this stuff is on vacation", or need more info from me to "find my receipt in their files" - I've provided them with every detail of the tow possible. Every time I talk to them they say it'll be "another week". I was overcharged by them & AAA needs an itemized receipt to prove that, which I've told them, and they keep avoiding my emails & phone calls. They've explained the overage charge to AAA by saying that we didn't take 93 north during the tow which caused for added mileage for the driver but didn't realize I was IN THE TRUCK and we did, in fact, take 93. The owner, Ralph, also tried to accuse me of not asking for a receipt after my car was towed & then claimed I "must have thrown it in the trash". His driver told me I'd get a receipt in the mail & wouldn't have to worry about it. My fault for trusting that this company wouldn't try to screw me out of money, or a simple itemized receipt. I've never been spoken to so terribly by someone I've PAID for a service. After going to their Facebook page, I realized that other people have experienced the exact same thing I have but gave up after FOUR months without a receipt ever sent to them. I am making sure that AAA sees every email I've had with them to get them out of their towing system. I am absolutely blown away by the disrespect I just experienced with this company. I got a flat tire last night and called triple A who sent Bostonian towing to bring my car to vip tire which I had requested. A couple hours later I called vip to see how it was going, and they said they had no record of my car ever being towed there. I called triple a asking what was going on and they called Bostonian and they said they brought it to vip. So I decided to call them myself to see what was up to only be greeted by a very angry disrespectful mechanic, confirming AGAIN that my car was in the location I requested. I cannot believe the disrespect he gave me. I AM JUST TRYING TO FIND MY CAR! They had picked it up!! I drove around Watertown frantically calling places and looking for my car that is now nowhere to be found! AWFUL SERVICE !!! For an ETA of thirty minutes, your tow will arrive after 3-4 hours. They will not update you on your driver being delayed & when you finally call to complain about it, they will either hang up or tell you he's been stuck in traffic for "hours". I was stuck about 3-4 from that shop, called at 1 pm. 4pm came & the driver was such a bad driver that he found himself in traffic for 3 hours for 3 miles.. & no, we don't live in Times Square if you're asking. Similar to another review, AAA sent Bostonian to help with my car with two flat tires. The gentleman who came was fantastic! Came very quickly (AAA told me an hour and he was there in about 20 minutes), loaded my car on to the flatbed carefully and VERY efficiently and got me to the service dept at the dealership within an hour of my phone call to AAA. Wish I could remember the name of the driver because he was super nice and very professional. He was friendly and easy to chat with on the way to the dealer and he's clearly someone who knows how to do a job well and with a great attitude at the same time. read more

They tried to get my to "pay cash for a deal" and said it would be $150 if I paid cash, "probably closer to $170" if I wait for the bill. Ended up saying no and tow was only $100. BUT WAIT. this was based on bull sh*t mileage that was completely made up. "Not a problem", said the person who answered the phone. "You guys can ride the truck." I gave them my card details and waited. I called the company in order to get information about my car which got towed, and the guy who answered the phone said to me "Don't piss me off, you are waking me up and my wife is mad now, I don't give a single F about your car". I tried to explain him my situation and he really did not care. Thank you for not letting me know where my car was. I called the number that I was provided and the guy did never pick up until the day I already had the address. I had to wait a couple of days until the condo's management opened in order to know where my car was. The people from the company where trying to charge me for the days my car spent there even if they wouldn't let me know where to pick it up. I relieved an email that my car was towed and turns out Bostonian Towing towed my car, the wrong one, from the space I've leased for over a year. The address of the car they were supposed to tow was in the email notification I received. When I called to ask who I could speak with about getting the car and correcting the several hundred dollars I "owed" I was told that I have to come get the car, pay in cash and the ONLY way to get my money back from these scumbags for THEIR mistake was to take them to small claims court. He rolled it through the lot into a safe place and towed it around the corner to an open area and then had one of his other drivers bring a flatbed to transfer it. Despite agreeing on the most direct route when he hooked my car, the driver in turn took an indirect route adding 12 miles at $4.00/mile plus $10.00 in tolls to the bill. I was accused of trespassing by being parked in my designated parking spot, that I pay $250.00 a month for in Boston, MA to find my vehicle at 5:30am hooked up to the back of Bostonian Towing Service Vehicle. The driver of the towing company, Corey, rudely greeted me by insisting I pay $60.00 to have my vehicle removed from the tow truck and back in my possession. (mind you I have parked here for over 2 months with no trouble and even speaking with the building owner). I kindly told him the situation and Corey told me to step away and he was going to move my car 10 feet and then charge me $90.00. He was harassing me, giving me false information, accusing me of trespassing, talking down to me and not being professional. He called me "temperamental" when i was upset that he did not have the decency to treat me like a professional human who was in the right allotted parking spot .Corey also, when initially asked for his name, he rudely replied "my parents did not give a me a name at birth", basically mocking me. When asked to speak to his boss, he told me I was unable to and I could speak with him at the lot. I would never recommend this company to anyone, whether it was for car troubles, lock issues or simple towing needs. This company does not have morals, respect or treat customers with dignity. I do not see how this company is in business. When I spoke to Ralph Loftus, the owner later in the day to see who or why my car was being towed he disclosed no information, was very passive, rude and basically treated me how Corey did, like I was a felon.
