True to its name, the store fosters a warm, inclusive environment where people can gather to create. They stock an impressive range of high-quality fabrics and supplies from famous brands for sewing, knitting, embroidery, and other fiber arts. Beyond just selling materials, their real standout feature is the fully-equipped studio space available for rent in the back. This area contains professional-grade machinery, like industrial sewing and embroidery machines, that most people don't have at home, allowing makers to tackle ambitious projects at very reasonable hourly rates. The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and supportive, always willing to help beginners or offer advice to seasoned crafters. This community focus extends to their extensive schedule of workshops and classes for all skill levels, which aligns with their mission to be a welcoming space for everyone. Whether you need specific supplies, access to specialized equipment, or friendly guidance to start a new hobby, Gather Here is an invaluable and inspiring resource for the local creative community.

I did a multi hour private class for which I paid a premium, I felt OK about it and good about my decision afterwards. I planned on returning to continue with the same teacher, however when I called to arrange, I was told that the teacher had been dismissed. The lady I spoke with explained that the dismissal was not for ability or quality of teaching, that the studio ensured the quality of teaching always met the studios high standards. When pushed however I was told that the dismissal came as a surprise to other staff members, but was also not a surprise as the studio owner requires 'yes' teachers to all requests, and that he is VERY commercially minded. This teacher was clearly NOT a yes person, just very competent and a thoroughly nice person! What also surprised me was the extent to which she supported the studio, despite what seems to have been one way from the owner! So a very disappointing conclusion, maybe I will be able to arrange private classes with her, but for anyone considering the studio for classes - buyer beware and don't believe the very believable owner who will say anything to get the business and revenue. It's a shame he behaves in this way, but I strongly believe it can only be the start of the end for the studio

Small but filled with unique, homemade local items, it's perfect for gifts for loved ones during the holidays or even treats for yourself. With so many creative, local artists gathered together, it's hard not to give the craft fair five stars. Yes, it's on the tinier size and it's in a cramped basement in an old church in Cambridge, but I don't think that detracts from the point of the fair: to encourage community spirit, to strengthen the local economy and to support locals in their business opportunities.

The fair is now both in the church basement, and in a few outside booths on street level in front of the church as well. It's at the corner of Church Street & Mass Ave, across the street from the Harvard Sq. MBTA stop. The vendors are varied, from clock & wind chime creators, to jewelry makers, glass artists, book makers, and even some jam purveyors. I had a great time browsing, and even found the perfect pair of earrings for a hard to shop for friend. (I usually get her a Christmas gift at the Bazaar Bizarre in Boston, but that craft fair isn't happening this year. Chain mail earrings from the Harvard Square Holiday Fair helped me fill the gift giving void.) I recommend stopping by if you're looking for gifts both for others and yourself.

So I finally took some time to look up local businesses that do custom embroidery and found Graphic Connections. I spoke with the owner Paul in person one evening shortly after they were closed for the day. He was very friendly and insightful to their process for handling custom jobs for their customers including other local businesses. They run two shifts: sales and design by day, printing and embroidery by night. We spoke through some details and fees involved and went from there. Zapporah took care of all the different quotes and questions promptly. Dave handled the design and proofs prior to production. The night crew handled production and a phonecall was received when it was ready for pickup. Turnaround time after the proofs was really quick! Moment of truth was when I finally picked up the end product - a few aprons embroidered with logos as a gift to another local small business. They were beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I can't be any happier and look forward to working with them again in the future! Definitely recommend!!!
