I love Portuguese food and seafood so this place was perfect. Very fresh and delicious seafood. Big portions. They serve alcohol which is a plus.
Nice spot for a good healthy meal. Our car broke down in the area and we have a lot of fish eaters in the family. We ordered salmon, sea bass and cooked clams. The food was great. We ordered fish with cooked vegetables and they gave us a very good quality Portuguese olive oil for the veggies. The French fries and salad were good too. The service was also good. Staff was kind and patient, even with our loud kids. Overall, this place has the basics down. The food is simple and well made. Fish had salt and pepper and was cooked well. Decor is also simple and nice and everything was clean and reasonably priced. Much recommended for fish lovers.
It's not what I expected, but I'm pleasantly surprised! This place had it all cool vibes, ReSharper fish, and great service friendly staff. This place was tucked away within a neighborhood in NJ right by an industrial area. I expected it to be a dive, but found this place to be just warm and fun. Lots of choices. and nice meals. I went with the Bossa Fish sandwich, which was just delicious! Lightly fried flounder with lettuce and tomatoes picked onions and their lightly spicy sauce on fresh bun I went with a side of plantains and a thin based NE clam chowder, we went with the fried shrimp appetizer, just yummy! Wife had the crab cake sandwich she said it was good. had lots of interesting drinks to wash it down with. Fun, Fish, Fresh!
Absolutely LOVE Bossa Fish! My first visit was when I was interning for Yelp since they made the Top 100 Places to Eat in NJ list (#2) and ever since then, I've been hooked. I took my friend and sister here two separate times and found myself ordering the same meal since it was THAT good. Bossa fish has great variety! By the register, you can find different beers, sangrias, juices, etc. They also have a full bar in the back where they serve signature cocktails such as The OG Caipirinha. If you're visiting to pick up seafood to cook at home, they have it laid out fish market style which I thought was cool. And it doesn't smell fishy at all! By the full bar there is indoor seating and a nice size patio to enjoy during warmer weather. The one thing I would order every visit is their buffalo shrimp, UGH so good! The salt cod croquettes come in at a close second. I also tried their Charlie Baltimore Crab Cake sandwich and The Bossa Nova w/ flounder. Delicious! Service was great as well. Make sure you add Bossa Fish to your list to visit, especially during the summer to enjoy a drink and meal on the patio!
Randomly found this place while in the parking lot of jersey gardens outlet on my car map. Clicked on it and thought hmmm fish market I'm intrigued, and they sell food. We got there very easy to find street parking and it was less than 6 minute drive including the Christmas shopping traffic from the mall. As soon as I walked in I saw these two people eatting a giant tray of a whole fish and rice I was sold. Perfectly fried seafood just can't go wrong with that. And you better not sleep on that rice, so perfectly seasoned and while your eatting your fried fish and crumbles of batter fly into your rice just adds an amazing crunch to your rice also. Lastly the sauce let's just say we finished a 1/3 of that bottle they gave us.
So we came here on a whim. It was just a last minute look up. Its super small on a corner. This restaurant is super clean and very inviting. The guys working here were very nice. There is limited seating but it wasn't very crowded. The menu is seafood based. It's a twist on Brazilian and Portugal dishes. We started with fresh clams and salmon croquettes. They were absolutely amazing. The croquettes were fresh and had amazing flavor. For an entree we tried the crab cake sandwich I think may be the best out of everything. Super flavorful! With fries. Which were crunchy. The fried shrimp and fries also amazing. the salmon and garlic sauce over rice. It was a large portion. Super garlicky but just a little to salty. We stayed for coffee. Btw u must stay for coffee they have a beautifully balanced cortado and cappuccino. Overall if I'm in the area I will def come back to Bossa because the guys here are super accommodating and the food was great! The stand out was the crab cake sandwich! Parking on street.
Today is a sad day as we say goodbye to one of the best restaurants in town. For the past 4 years, I've been fortunate to dine here, always brought in by a chef friend who swore they never overcooked a fish. And he was right, every single time. It's hard to believe a place with food this good is closing its doors. The quality, the consistency, and the skill in every dish made it a standout. If you've eaten here, you know what a loss this is. If you hear where the chef is heading next, let me know because I'll be following.
It's funny I came here after I was waitlisted for a Yelp elite event and didn't get in. I had to check it out anyways since it got such great reviews. We were greeted right away and asked if we wanted to dine in or takeout and were told we could sit wherever we wanted. We were given menus and told about the specials which all sounded very good. I opted for the crab and sandwich and my date ordered the garlic shrimp with potatoes and a side of mixed vegetables. I read the reviews about the crab cake sandwich and how the roll was so soft. It really was and the picked onions, and avocado made the sandwich taste so yummy. My boyfriend's garlic shrimp were very tasty as well and he could t stop taking about the veggies. They were a great deal for $4, lol. The restaurant is only about 10 minutes from my job during the week and I can definitely see myself ordering there to go at lunch. Everything we had was very good.
Great fish shack near Newark Airport close to Port Elizabeth. Loved the cod croquets with the special Bossa sauce. Also great fried flounder sandwiches. Will definitely be back to try one of the dinner platters. Very casual and low key. It's even fun to watch the plains take off overhead when sitting outdoors.
This place is delicious!!!!!!!!! Service is quick and straight forward. Garlic chicken - 10/10 The sauce was perfectly seasoned and chicken perfectly cooked. Cheesesteak - 10/10 Also soooo good. I can't wait to come back and try new items!!
Found this gem on Yelp while waiting for someone at Newark Airport. It's only about a 10 min drive from the airport so this makes it a prime spot for everyone waiting to pick someone up/kill time after a delayed flight. It's a cute, unassuming seafood restaurant smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The interior is decorated just like you are at a coastal restaurant in New England. We were greeted immediately by who I assume was the owner. He told us to grab a seat, let us know of the specials, and then came to wait on us right after. Besides being a restaurant, you can also buy fish directly from them. Although I didn't buy any, I did look and the fish all looked great and the prices were really good compared to what I am used to seeing out in the Midwest. I ordered the Charlie Baltimore which was their special crab cake sandwich with French fries on the side. I lived in Baltimore for 5 years so I've had my fair share of amazing crab cakes, and this place fit right in there. The crab cakes were flavorful, crab heavy, and not dry. It was an excellent sandwich for the price, highly recommend. The owner insisted he give us his special sauce on the side as he firmly believed it was the best. I don't know what he put in it, but it was one of the best sauces I've had. Instantly leveled up both the sandwich and the crispy crinkle fries. My dad also ordered a cappuccino at the end of the meal and it came out beautiful, my dad also said it was just as good as it looks.
I've had dinner at Bossa fish twice with a little bit of mixed results. Siting outside is nice but unsurprisingly there is a fair amount of airplane traffic. The first time I had the salad with shrimp which I really liked the capers in the salad. I also really liked the clams in garlic and wine. The second visit i had fried shrimp and it was extremely over done. I can't remember if it was one or two of my dining companions, but they also said their shrimp was very over done. I would return again but I'd order fish or the crab cake.
Nice little gem! Friendly and fast service. The fried shrimp and honey dipping sauce was sooo good! Also have great dressing for salad the olive oil is extremely good. Place is very clean doesn't even smell of seafood when you walk in. Definitely will be back :)

I've been eyeing this place for a while now and my partner lives a few blocks away so I was ecstatic to try it. From the moment I walked in it was fabulous. Service 10/10 very friendly staff, so welcoming and polite. The ambiance is very clean, bright, and sleek. Fresh fish on display, great wine on display, both bottles and cans, such a great selection. I was very impressed. You can dine in and outdoor seating. I got the salt cod croquettes a must so delicious nicely seasoned nice kick and the dipping sauce was a perfect addition. They give a generous amount and great price. I also got the Charlie Baltimore, a crab cake sandwich topped with pickled onions, avocado, lettuce and bossa sauce yum yum yum. That combination of flavor was so amazing and right. I added the side of fries which was ok but I'm not really a fries person but they were good. And to drink I got the passion fruit mojito man o man the mojito was so well made and refreshing. It paired perfect with the weather today since spring is starting to break. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and all the wines lol. Highly recommend read more
Found this little gem looking for something to eat after we left Jersey Gardens. Literally five minutes away. It's a small little place with probably about 10 tables for a party of two. They have outdoor seating but obviously it is on the chilly side but they do a lot of to go orders . I'm not sure if the gentleman that greeted us was the owner but he was super friendly and very helpful. All the staff were great . They have a fairly decent menu with a lot of yummy selections. The clam chowder is a must try so good !! We tried the Bossa Combo with fried shrimp and fried flounder with fries OMG that tartar sauce is delicious. The fried flounder was just as delicious served on a brioche bun and served with fries . They have a selection of wines if you need a little bubbly to go with your meal . So many good things on the menu so I will definitely be back to try them out. So if you are in the area call in for a take out order or take a chance they may have a table available. read more
The place is amazing!! The freshest seafood and excellent service. Place has great outdoor space. Now let's get to the food. Food The jumbo buffalo shrimp is out of this world. Great shrimp size and portions. The buffalo sauce has a great kick to it. The clams in a white wine sauce is excellent. I can literally drink the white wine sauce. They give you fresh bread to dunk in the white wine sauce. Great size on the clams and super fresh. The Charlie Baltimore sandwich is probably the best thing I had since sliced bread. So tender and full of flavor. The Bossa combo is the icing on the cake. Fresh fried seafood and also huge portions. Place is absolute gem and recommend anyone go here for super fresh seafood. read more

TOP F'n KNOTCH food AND service!!! Stayed at a hotel by the airport overnight so we needed to find GOOD food options for my wife, 2yo, and me. Now when we visit NJ/NY we're ordering from here for sure! We over ordered, but couldn't resist: - Fried Shrimp (Buffalo sauce) - Ipanema Salad (with grilled shrimp) - Maduros - Rice - Grilled Veggies - Cafe con Leche - Clam chowder - Hot sauce Would've LOVED to order more (but we only had two adults and one 2yo)... would've loved to try: - Everything else on the menu Unfortunately, it wasn't cost effective for us to take an uber there and back, so we ordered delivery. Long story short, we were missing our drinks, but the owner was kind enough to bring us our missing items. Fried shrimp were thicc... and super fresh (had that crunch to the shrimp itself. Fried perfectly - might look a little over fried online for some pics but no. It's seasoning. Maduros are exactly the way I like them... not too mushy, but soft - and perfectly sweet and caramelized. Salad and veggies were clean, so pairs well with the food. Really tasty clam chowder with perfect clam to potato ratio. SO much better then that thick white cream garbage you think you're getting. Real stuff. I could keep going with the food, but just order stuff... My 2yo devoured EVERYTHING! And she knows good food! ;) The owner seems like some really down to earth guy and knows what he's doing. Super friendly and makes you feel like a regular (even though it's my first time ordering - and online). When he dropped off my missing orders to make things right, he was just all kind smiles and just seems like a cool guy you'd want to go hang out with. Had a great experience and would've loved to visit the place. On my list for next time! read more

Oh my cod! ;) The best fish sandwich I've ever had! Super tasty entrees! Excellent drinks! I came here mid-afternoon with my brother and we were greeted right away. The owner helped us with our order and allowed us to keep a tab open. We found a table near a huge window (great for pix). Our drinks- a light, citrus Mexican-style lager called "Back to Summer Special" from Departed Souls Brewery out of Jersey City and a heady and addictive Caiprinha were sip-tastic! Their "Smoking Joe Sandwich" of my choice of fried flounder (or shrimp, scallop, whiting, cod, or chicken cutlet) with a spicy slaw and Cajun sauce on a brioche bun was 5-stars- hands down! Then their Daily Special of their deboned, marinated, butterflied, and fried Sardines was lip-smacking good! It reminded me of Filipino daing. If we had room, we would have tried more of the tempting menu. I can't wait to come back with more family and friends! NOTES/TIPS: **Street parking by some houses. Easy depending on the time of day. **Indoor seating. Lots of outdoor seating. **Excellent service. Beer and cocktails! **Seafood market. **Order take out/delivery through Yelp, Grubhub, Toast, Uber Eats, or DoorDash. **Just a few blocks (0.8 miles) from Jersey Gardens Mall and a better option than most mall food. read more

Came here for the first time today, honestly I've been procrastinating on coming here since they opened but I'm glad I did today. Started off with Buffalo shrimp , I'm just gonna say wow. The only thing I can compare this to, which people might not be familiar with, are the Buffalo shrimp from Krug's in Newark. They were great. For entree's my wife had the garlic salmon and I had the Bossa combo fish and ships consisting of battered and fried shrimp and flounder. This place is great. Enjoy a nice cold beer or whatever drink of your choosing with some fresh tremendously prepared seafood, or land if you prefer, and enjoy a great meal here. Definitely will come back read more

Discovered this restaurant from TikTok. I was really impressed and satisfied!! Our server Jon was very helpful with making food suggestions and patient with my questions about the food on the menu. Their menu had a variety of seafood options that you can get grilled fried or steamed as a platter or sandwich. ORDERED : -Fried red snapper platter with white rice & salad -Grilled salmon, tilapia platter with veggies & Spanish fries -Red sangria Our entire Meal was good and fresh... However the sangria could have been a little stronger (tasted like fruit juice) CON: *Congested street parking *small restaurant with 6-8 table seating & bar high top seating. (comfortable & clean) read more

A super cute fish market and a horrible restaurant with huge portions and fresh seafood! It was cute inside and has a little outdoor seating area too. We got so white wine sangria which was strong and super flavorful. We also got calamari which was crispy and not too salty. I loved the crabcakes and clams in white wine sauce. Our favorite main entrée was the shrimp and garlic sauce. The grilled branzino and fried red snapper were also very fresh but I would pick the shrimp over it. We ended the meal with some flan which was super creamy and delicious. read more

I was getting hungry and wanted to give this spot a try. I called in my order of the Bossa Nova with whiting. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into this cute restaurant. I walked up and told the lady my name and paid a little over $10.50. When I got to my car I dug in and the fries were good. The sandwich was pretty good and the sauce they use was spicy but tasty. I enjoyed the food and would definitely return to try more things. read more

This is one of those places you don't feel like writing the review because you want to keep it a secret.. but so be it! And they be it here big time. The fish dishes are all awesome! I had the salad with shrimp and it was Devine! The grilled shrimp were so good I was sucking the spice off the shells before eating them up.. gonna ask what the spice was the next time.. the calamari started was perfection too. And the homemade cookies at the end were worth it! Bravo Bossa! A non Alchohal beer would be great if they could add it, otherwise I'm coming here again read more

Excellent place to stop anytime you want fresh fish! Food has awesome flavor grilled or fried Fresh, fresh and I mean fresh!! Great atmosphere casual yet classy the service is superb! Exceptional flavor and a great twist to the norm. They offer other things but we came for the fresh fish it came highly recommended by someone that has lived in Jersey all their life! The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable in everything about the area including Bossa Fish! When they named it Bossa they meant it! It takes the head of the table in dining and fresh fish to the BOSS! We, my husband and I enjoyed ourselves greatly, whether a family outing, first date, or just a regular visitor the atmosphere suits all, you would enjoy yourself here and walk away completely satisfied! With such a friendly staff! We recommend this place highly for lunch or dinner! It's the BOSS-A! read more

It is hurtful to write this review update, but after coming to Bossa for over a year, I see the quality of the food declining and the prices going up. The past couple of times I ordered a whole fish and got an overcooked "not so fresh" small sized fish with rice as an only choice of side and having to pay additional for anything else. I really hope they go back to the wonderful quality they were serving when they first opened. read more

I really really like this place. The restaurant is so beautiful and has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is so friendly and rush to your needs. My favorite part about this spot is the unique and amazing menu. I'm not a huge seafood lover but I would order every single thing off this menu. I ordered the "shrimp boss 305" sandwich and it was epic! Sweet, savory and spicy all in one. Then I tried some of my wife's salmon and Buffalo shrimp and they were out of this world. Fantastic spot for sure. read more

For a place that is confused if it's a fish market (yes you can get fresh incredible fish here!!!) counter service or sit down restaurant or even a top shelf bar ( I had the best caipirinha) the food was enormous and out of this world. This place is a gem! Super fresh seafood, so well prepared, in a space with a cool laid back vibe and friendly service. You'll feel like a regular after your first visit. Everything was delicious and portions are generous. We had clams in white wine sauce (amazing!), A specially prepared sea bass with garlic shrimp, fried shrimp and clams that were so fresh and just lightly breaded, and addictive spanish potatoes. We also polished off a pitcher of sangria and finished with a really good flan, and cappuccino. Grateful to have this spot so close to home. read more
