My best friend and I have this ridiculous thing we call Operation: Never Surrender, usually done around finals week, where we hole up in the Bo's on Katipunan in front of Miriam College and engage in an all-night study frenzy. Is that healthy? Certainly not. But is it fun? Hell yeah, in a really twisted, masochistic way. Misery loves company, and honestly there's no better place to be miserable than Bo's. (That's a compliment, I swear.)
Since I live in the South, I usually go to the Bo's in Glorietta. It's quieter and smaller than the Katipunan branch, and I like that you can look outside and see people milling about instead of the hellish traffic of Katipunan. The staff is a little slow, but friendly enough. My favorite thing about Bo's is the fact that there's a socket near every table, something other coffee places sorely lack, and that makes Bo's the perfect study coffee shop, in my opinion. The wi-fi is also limited to a certain amount of time, but hey, at least you don't have to pay extra for it! And for students who get easily distracted by the internet (guilty), it's actually a plus since the limited internet time provides less chances of you wandering off to Facebook instead of studying.
In terms of food and drinks, the brewed coffee or the Cafe Americano is great, since I take my coffee black anyway, but in my opinion the flavored stuff like the Cafe Mocha or the Cafe Lattes are too sweet. The food and the pastries are nothing to write home about either, but who goes to coffee places to eat anyway? I'd recommend Bo's more as a place to get the productive juices flowing, or to curl up with a good book, rather than a food establishment.
(Also, fun fact: one time in Bo's Katipunan the staff blared "Shots!" by LMFAO over the sound system to wake up all the sleepy students, and everyone in the cafe started screaming along during the, "SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS" part and waving their hands in the air. ISN'T THAT COOL??) read more
