I've been a fan of CBTL, I like trying out their seasonal drinks and their different hot teas (Strawberry Cream is my favorite). Coffee Bean has also been a great place to work for me - especially when my wifi at home conks out. I'm actually at this branch now because of really sad internet download speeds at home this morning - and was pleasantly surprised to see the new summer iced teas available when I stepped in. Was tempted to get a slice of Nono's Chocolate Oblivion cake, but held back - I might have dessert later while I wait for my mail to load even more.
For me, Coffee Bean is reliable, and I will keep coming back.
I noticed, though, that the outlets in a number of CBTL branches are getting boarded up, which makes it more difficult to work in. There were three available in this branch and I think one has been blocked. Luckily I got in early enough to use one of the other two. It's still a bit sad though for someone who likes working in coffee shops.
Also wish that they had an in-store comfort room so it would be faster for me to do my business when I need to and go back to my laptop, which I don't really want to leave alone or with strangers for too long. There are other food establishments in High Street that have comfort rooms in them, especially since High Street's comfort rooms aren't all open at certain times of the day - notably the times when I need wifi since I work odd hours.
Those being said, this branch is still a great place to hang out. It shows with the crowd - on weekends, people flock here and fill it up quickly so if you need a quiet place to work on a weekend, this won't be it. (You'll also have to rush through all the smokers puffing away at the open area outside if you don't want second hand smoke). Even on weekdays, it may be difficult to sit near one of the outlets - or get a table inside, away from the heat, during lunch hours.
Like other branches, they offer retail teas, coffee pods and machines; and their staff is really friendly.
With the number of different coffee shops around High Street, Coffee Bean has stiff competition - but I'm not surprised that they can still fill their tables. read more
