Stopped in around 2pm on a Sunday after brunch. The bar was pretty full but we were able to snag one of the really cute cabana looking tables. The decor is very tropical and beachy. Lots of great places for pics. They had a DJ playing and a few people were dancing. Views are amazing so I suspect it gets busier closer to sunset. Our waitress was great, very attentive. I do wish the menu had an appetizer section though. We eventually wanted something to snack on like a dip but there wasn't anything in the menu that wasn't from the raw bar or a full entree. After fighting to find a parking spot I made my way upstairs to La Playa. There was no cover to get in which I was a nice incentive to stay. I initially said I would stay for about an hour or two. Here I am 6 hours later writing this review. The space has open windows so you get great views of the beach. A time was had. Lusha the bartender was amazing from start until finish. She was very attentive to everyone at the bar area. I don't recall seeing anyone waiting long for additional rounds. One of the best bar experiences I have had. I found out the DJ was only visiting but he did an amazing job keeping us moving. Oh yeah the food...I ordered the jerk chicken sandwich & the people's margarita. The sandwich was good. They missed some of the mango sauce on it but when I finally got to it, it complemented the sandwich well. The margarita was a sleeper so I know it is dangerous (but in a good way). I would certainly order both of these items when I visit again. Glad I looked up La Playa & came to check it out. read more

An absolute MUST DO. Group of gals in town ready to have a good time and Ft. Lauderdale was killing us in not the best way. We stumbled into here on the last day and it closed us out in the best possible way. The lord shined upon us with this choice. Best drinks, best view, best service, best food. 100 out of 10. Cory the bouncer 5 stars... we should have hired him to follow us around all weekend. An absolute gem and current bodyguard for the luckiest ppl in the world. Cory for president. TLDR: Nice spot on the beach with beautiful views of the beach. Would I go again: yes Drinks: Key Lime Sunrise and Blueberry purée both had great flavor and a good amount of alcohol. Service: Bartender was attentive without being overly intrusive. read more

First time going to this place and I was more than disgusted by finding a hair in between the fried fish and fries after I had eaten half. I was more shocked that they didn't even attempt to at least discount the bill which it should have been free after such findings . read more

First time here. We started at the downstairs restaurant. Hostess wasn't very welcoming. Our waitress was great. Very friendly and attentive. View is great. Got the shrimp cocktail app.. standard, nothing fancy but very tasty. We also got the fish tacos and the pork dish. Fish tacos were delicious. The pork dish was not visually appealing, but tasted fine. Average. Drinks weren't very strong. My second drink was supposed to be a spicy watermelon margarita (the pink senorita).. it wasn't spicy and tasted like a flower. I would come back, just make different drink choices and order the fish tacos again. Upstairs had a fun vibe. Awesome decor. The ambiance is super cute but if you want an ocean view then bar seating is the only place to be. Our waitress was very attentive albeit this was a Friday at 5pm. It wasn't very busy and they had live music which was nice. Their catch of the day was mahi-mahi which we asked for it grilled. The mango salsa, rice and beans, and green beans all came with it which nonetheless left me with a very full belly. The fish was so flaky. It was perfect! The lobster roll however was lacking seasoning. It was missing salt, pepper, an acidic element. Perhaps an aioli sauce would've sealed the deal but either way it lacked something flavorful. read more

Went to La Playa Day Club while on vacation for lunch. Of course we knew it would be more than a brunch. This restaurant/bar is located on the 2nd floor of Bo Beach. The vibe is amazing with a very nice island ambiance. This is a great place if you want to hear good music, have great drinks, and get good food. March 2023 -- kinda of disappointing.. It is a cute place with a fun vibe. First of all, we got tickets for open bar all day only to come to find out that many of the drinks we were excited to try were excluded from this deal. The bartender was nice enough to give us some on the house for this miscommunication. We were also looking forward to trying one of their pizzas but were told the oven was down for a few days. Like I said, just disappointed since we had higher expectations. The guy bartenders were better than the girls both efficiency and friendliness wise. read more

This was a different experience. A Dayclub, a first for me being that it's not Vegas and it's after 5pm est. lol. We were seated by the Host Gia. Very sweet and nice. We were seated in the cabana section. Our waitress was Kaytlyn It's spring break so the socials we're reasonable. The Long Island and specialty drinks were good along with the calamari and flatbread. La Playa is a vibe! Located on top of Bo's Beach house, It's one of those spots that you can roll to for oysters and champagne at noon or burgers and brews in the evening. I travel a lot and what I like about this spot is that it's trendy without being pretentious. The staff are all cool, and the people who are attracted to it don't take themselves too seriously. The dance floor also gets going as the night gets later. Dope spot to kick it if you find yourself in Fort Lauderdale and shout out to Drea V for mixing up some lit drinks. read more

This is a 21and over bar/hangout across from the beach. Since we were not aware of this we took our kids and we're obviously turned away. So we tried the bar on the first floor which turned out to have awful bar food. read more

Came in here before my flight , place is a great spot Beautifull nice windy looking at the beach .. we sat at the bar ,order mojito was good , as I expected in front of the beach coming from I island myself , order oyster but crackers where old , have to wait for bartender that was on the phone for the longest place was not crowded at hat moment around 3:00 .did not came to offer or ask if the food was good or if we need anything I stand up to get napkins , I raise my hand she came told her if I can fresh cracker she borough handful of them but old cracker .. service was not good .. read more

This place was a great scene for my bachelorette party! So much fun and right by the beach. Awesome drinks ("la playa" was the drink I personally got, HIGHLY recommended) and delicious food options. Staff was super fun, friendly and accommodating. Service was fast. So many photo ops especially with the beach right in the background. Special shout-out to Rita, the hospitality manager AND DJ (you go mama!). She went above and beyond and kept the party going. Def check this spot out if you're in the area. read more

Ordered drinks at the bar and after we received them we thought they tasted off, (way too sugary) I think the bartender could see we were not thrilled about the drinks because a few minutes later the bartender came over and asked for the drinks back saying she forgot to add a few "ingredients", one of the few ingredients being the alcohol. Not sure if it was an honest mistake or just an unprofessional employee, but either way the drinks were not good, WAY too sugary even after the extra ingredients were added. Terrible experience here. We sat down in a booth and were quickly told that we should move if we weren't prepared to spend many hours and at least $200 there. Um sorry, the drinks weren't even that interesting. Nor the crowd. Nor the service for that matter. I would go somewhere else if I were you. read more

If you're tired of the same old stuff on Ft. Lauderdale beach, and you like dance music, this is your spot! La Playa Dayclub is bringing in some of the best local and international DJ's to perform daytime sets in a room that has arguably some of the best panoramic views of the water on the beach. The setup is all open-air, but it's covered from sun and rain when needed. The vibes are laid back and it's just outside of the bro-zone. The bar staff are great, bottle service is top notch, and there are some food options if you're hungry. I recommend the fish tacos. I love spending my weekends at La Playa and can't wait to go back soon. read more

Wife & I stopped in on the way to Tortuga Music Festival for a bite. No seating anywhere, entire floor was extremely dirty/sticky. Spoke to manager about issues described above and asked for a seat....he insulted my wife and I. When I asked him not to be disrespectful, he flew off the handle and kicked us out. The bouncer approached in an aggressive manner and threatened violence. Im a 45 y/o public safety officer and have never been treated so egregious for nothing. Spoke to the police outside and they concurred about some of the employees there. Never again! read more

As someone that has previously worked in the service industry for years, I am appalled by the service from the management team, security guards, marketing coordinator and hostess on staff. The night of Nov 5, we had a large party celebrating an engagement. After I met my boyfriend was downstairs at Bo's since he was looking for me, we came back up the stairs to rejoin our group and was stopped by another customer who was waiting by the hostess stand. The guy proceeded to get physical for us simply walking past him and instead of controlling the situation, the security guard proceeded to DRAG my boyfriend down the stairs, BIT him on the neck drawing blood, and scratched him drawing blood from his hand as well. The cops were called on us. When asked for the camera footage by the police, they were told the cameras were not working. How convenient. My lawyer will be in touch. read more

The wait is so worth it! (They don't take reservations) The place had a bunch of great relaxing yet lively yet romantic type of vibes and you're surrounded by happy people- including the employees (atleast it seems so) and THE FOOD is just. I don't have the words. I mean, basically everything we've ever ordered at this restaurant has had us in shock after taking the first bites. Like even down to the French fries being yum! The lobster siracha mac and cheese (not sure what it's called on menu) is just my favorite and I crave it everyday if my life including right now as I write this Great staff also. The restaurant is known for something called "Scoobies" which per Google Gemini are "crab claws (traditionally blue crab or snow crab) that have been partially de-shelled--leaving just the "pincher" as a handle--and sautéed in a rich sauce of garlic, butter, and olive oil with crushed red pepper and scallions." I didn't get the Scoobies because I was apprehensive about how difficult they would be to eat. My dishes were fried oysters, fish tacos, and coconut shrimp platter. They were all fine, but unremarkable. The platter comes with fries and cole slaw as listed, but when I said to the bartender that I didn't need cole slaw, just extra fries, he offered/clarified that I could substitute another side instead, so I went with broccoli. I did notice that there were many flies flying around when my shrimp platter came out. One of the other bartenders put out a plate of hot sauce to repel the flies, which helped. The place is famous and sells its own merchandise like shirts and hats. It is not located near other restaurants, and you'll have to walk fifteen minutes or get an Uber if you are discouraged by the waiting time. The people dining here look like they are pretty well off and are able to enjoy life.
