As a local resident and someone who takes public safety seriously, I am appalled by the lack of oversight at Rock Bar. It is incredibly obvious that management is prioritizing high-volume sales over legal compliance. Throughout the night, I observed security and bar staff consistently giving "passes" to individuals who were clearly using poor-quality out-of-state "novelty" IDs. The bartenders barely glance at the birth dates before serving massive 2-for-1 drinks to groups that are clearly underage. Lots of tiktoks circulating from college students who are blantantly 18 and 19 and openly express that they use fake ids at rockbar. Do a quick search for yourself and read the comment sections. UNDERWATER NEON ODYSSEY... The largest club located in the center of the Fort Lauderdale Strip with blasting music heard from a block away with an intense neon glow coming from within. Large outside seating area packed with patrons eating, drinking and some smoking hookah from large glass genie bottles. Small outside bar with a red balloon rapidly moving in front of the hostess desk hoping to draw attention to passerbyers. Of course we couldnt resist and walked inside. An amazing visual of an underwater neon odyssey. Gigantic multi colored balloons everywhere even the ceiling - check out the video and pics. Multiple bars throughout and not busy inside as it was a Tuesday night. This place would probably be jammed with college age kids on the weekends. The bartender explained the flavored tobacco hookah prices which were steep at $50.00 $100.00 - but these are popular and saw people smoking them inside and outside. My wife started dancing on the empty dance floor to the electronic dance music (EDM) as she sipped her drink. Two people were playing digital darts and next to that was two Street Basketball machines. We shoved a dollar inside the slot and threw ball after ball into a hoop hoping to beat the high score. Their DJ was SO good so my best friend and i had to come back and jam with their creamy, zesty shrimp tacos and fresh, flavorful oysters twice in a row!! Although these dishes were tasty, the price was veryyyy steep for what you get. Walking down the boardwalk we found this restaurant with large screen televisions broadcasting the football game. I also noticed the beautiful 45 oz glass rocking a margarita. We asked for water, unknowingly he gave us bottle of waters. We thought maybe that was something that everyone was getting. We then loooked around and saw everyone else had cups of water. Found this bar walking along the beach and decided to drop by. We sat outside instead of inside. The table top was cleaned but underneath there were loads of chewed gum. I'd recommend they pay better attention to fries details. The inside had pretty cool decor and a DJ. Our initial hookah was horrible but we were able to get it fixed. We ordered the shrimp kabob meal. Overall it was good but the shrimp was overcooked. Ladies night was frustrating. As a girl, you get free drinks until 11, but some bartenders refuse to serve you. I don't mind waiting for you to finish you paying costumers orders first but to deny me a drink is crazy. Other than that, the big drink deal is great, but most restaurants on that block have the same promotion. The atmosphere was really fun too. I was almost finished with my very chewy, and not delicious calamari before he returned to take my meal order. Part of the description of the cheeseburger said, "melted cheese." Weird experience as soon as we walked up to the hostess. Granted, she had her back turned and was walking away toward the bar, where she went to drink some water. However, when she turned around and saw myself and friend standing there, she didn't inch toward us or anything. We just stood there and watch her attempt to finish drinking the entire bottle. The bouncer, then physically nudged her shoulder to go and greet us. SHE STILL STOOD IN PLACE. He then nudged her shoulder again, then she came and greeted us. I came here with a group of friends just for hookah. The hookah itself was okay, not the greatest. I would probably give it 3 stars only because we know how much fun this place can be. The service, on the other hand, needs more training. We needed our coal changed and we asked one of the staff, but he just went to his coworkers and did not get anyone to assist us. Came here for an event on a Sunday. The venue was pretty empty but The service was horrible. We were near the middle bar and both bartenders were charging half the group different prices for the same drinks. I ordered a soda water from one bartender and she charged me $3 plus a VIP bottle service fee (not even sure what that means). My friend ordered the same thing from the other bartender and they didn't charge her at all. AC was not working and instead of having fans all around they just let people die in heat. It's Florida in the summer it was 100 degrees outside they're just waiting for someone to fall out is what I'm guessing. Lastly, the women's bathroom. Took a trip to Fort Lauderdale beach just to check this spot out. I was surprised my drink had more flavor than my entree. All the drinks here looked good. I don't think you can go wrong with any drink order. I love ordered fajitas because they come out hot on a sizzling plate and are flavorful. However this was the first fajitas I ever ordered that didn't deliver. The plate was not hot, no sizzle and no flavor. I don't think seasoning was used at all. The chips was even better than my entree. For the price I paid seasoning on the food is mandatory. The place is located on beach strip so parking is limited and walking is required. Worst service ever. So we were seated at one of the smaller tables. There were two of us. So I asked the hostess if we can get the bigger table. She said she is sorry but they are busy and she is holding bigger tables for bigger parties, such as a party of 4. I totally understand that so I had no problem. However, I did have a problem 5 minutes later when I noticed her seat a couple, and there were smaller tables available. So now I'm starting to get hot. But I calmed myself down, since you know, I am on vacation. Decompression time. Well, it gets worse, so our waitress comes by gives us water and I order a drink, this was t approximately 7:05ish. 5 minutes later she returns with my drink, and proceeded to take our food order, Salmon with Caesar Salad and a Chicken Wrap with fries, and my credit card. I asked her why she needs my credit card. She responded that a lot of people dine and dash. Ok, no worries. So she left with my order and credit card, and poof she was not seen again until approximately 8:00. I have no idea where she or anybody else who took orders were. for about 45 min no one, I mean no one came by to see if we needed anything, or give us a status update on food, filled our water, or asked if I wanted another drink. Absolutely no one came by. It was ridiculous! Our waitress included was MIA. I couldn't even find her. For all I knew, she went and took a dip in the Ocean for my fish or went fishing for it off those boats floating serenely in the ocean. At about 7:50, our Salmon and Chicken Wrap arrived. This was delivered by an unknown person, not our waitress. She is still MIA. After about 10min when we were almost done with our food, guess who reappears, yep, it was a miracle! Our waitress had returned. She asked if we needed anything. I said yeah, the check! This place is terrible. Even if you go, just for drinks you will probably not see any help for about 45min or so. So I'm warning you in advance, Order about 5 drinks at once because your waiter or waitress will literally be MIA for about an hour. So, now I know why people dine and dash because the service literally SUXS! But, I must say I was really surprised by the food. The salmon was actually, I can't believe I'm writing this, but absolutely delicious! It was a big portion, nicely cooked, tender and full of flavor. The chicken wrap was not bad at all. It was actually pretty good. The ambiance and atmosphere is lively, good place to go if you want to party and dance, but beware you will be waiting for drinks if you sit there. During a recent visit to Fort Lauderdale, my cousin and I came to Rock Bar for lunch. I wanted to go somewhere near the beach to enjoy the scenery so we came here. We sat outside at the outdoor seating area. We ended up ordering the lomo saltado which consists of pieces of steak with vegetables served over fries. It also came with rice and plantains. The food was very tasty. However, keep in mind that this is a bar more than anything. They wanted to hold a credit card to start a tab and we weren't consuming alcohol. Came here with some classmates after the beach. It started to rain so we decided to go for the Jumbo margaritas two for one drinks. It were good for a beach snack but not my first pick for next time. we had the blue sky margarita and also the Pomarita margarita, so delicious! We also had a bunch of appetizer to share such as ceviche which I think could've been a little bit more vinegary so don't look for that traditional flavor here but is decent. This is a great place to hang out anytime although it gets really busy and upbeat in the evening and the weekends. I have visited this area many times before but have never chilled at Rock Bar. The area is really loud and active on Friday nights which is what most people want when visiting the Fort Lauderdale Beach bar area. The crowd wasn't too rowdy but It did get very packed by 10PM. Definitely didn't look like Covid ever existed . it's definitely a great place to people watch. I haven't been to this area in a while and was kind of disappointed in the type of people and the overall experience I encountered on this visit. This experience had nothing to do with Rock Bar but more about the area and activity. The Rock Bar was a good time. Colorful decor and plenty of seating if you get there by 8 - 9 PM. They have a decent menu along with a full cocktail menu. Prices weren't too bad, pretty standard for the beach area. Service was good. We spent a couple of hours here drinking, eating, talking sh*t and people watching. By the time we left, which was how about 10:30PM, there was a line to get in to be seated anywhere including inside and out. We all ordered the Miami Vice cocktail which is one of my favorites. I also ordered the nachos which was pretty good. You can find parking nearby in a parking lot for a fee of course. I recommend this spot more for the following groups of people, in my opinion: - Tourists - Anyone looking to party and drink - The younger crowd (although I had a good time but wouldn't be a regular spot for me) - Anyone that hasn't been to the area before and wants to see what it's like I had a great time and I would recommend to the above crowds but I won't make this spot a regular hang out for myself. SERVER *old guy with double chin* takes 1hour to come check on us but by the time he came to check on us I didn't even want to order my main course. He goes to close out my check and did some sketchy weird thing where he dropped off the pad I pay on and did not inform me 18% gratuity is included so I add another $10 basically man made $24 off of my order of 3 items and thank God he was able to void the calamari. But even voiding the calamari tab was $125. My friend was physically assaulted by one of the bouncers here, cut up his face really good, lot of blood. Basically he wouldn't let us in because our maniac cards weren't working, we told him how it was and that it was dumb, we paid for these cards that essentially don't work, so we decided to leave and told him that the cards were pointless and that the rock bar sucks (which it does) and I guess that hit a soft spot. Didn't deserve to be assaulted for that, at all. Of course, the other bouncers "claim we swung first." But the bar wouldn't get us a manager or show us the video, cop wasn't very helpful too. The officer seemed to just belittle us because we're some kids on spring break and figured we were just drunk and being stupid. He made a big deal out of making a report and seemed to want to just get rid of us. Claimed it was our word against theirs and when we asked if he could watch what happened on the camera that was looking at us the whole time, he told us that wasn't how it worked. Even if they did have "legal grounds" to "forcefully remove" us, 1 feel like being us upset that something we paid a lot of money for, just for it not to work, doesn't warrant an assault. Just stay away from here, $30 mixed drinks + $90 covers and bouncers who assault people.
