First time trying Boru Boru tonight. Mrs. and I went for our date night. Parking was simple, as it was at the less busy end of a strip mall, which was fortunate as that area is quite busy. We were warmly greeted when we entered and the gal behind the register helped us get our orders sorted. I ordered the Caveman as a burrito along with a side of seaweed salad. My meal choice came with a free drink, which was cool. My wife ordered the Ribeye Bulgogi bowl. The food was excellent. The Caveman was a mix of traditional and unique flavors. The portion was HUGE to where I couldn't finish the burrito. The seaweed salad was good too, but more lettuce and cucumber than seaweed salad - but what do you expect for $3.50! It was still good. My wife's bowl was good, she said, but I didn't steal a bite to report on it. Restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. We'll definitely be back to try their other items. read more

It was a Friday and I was exhausted. I wanted something comforting and warm after a tough week, so ramen came to mind. I had no desire to leave the house, so I searched on Uber Eats and Boru Boru came up. Now I had already heard good things about this restaurant, mainly that the food was delicious but that portions could be bigger for the price. I have to concur after my delivery. I ordered some edamame and a tonkotsu ramen with the spice pack. Apparently the spices are extra. What in the world? Have never seen this before. That said, the portions for the edamame and tonkotsu ramen were appropriately-sized, but this is America where portions tend to be massive, so this was a little bit of a letdown, and mind you, this is after adding an extra egg. Nevertheless, everything was packaged well and everything arrived piping hot. I would definitely have their food again. read more

As a half Japanese spoiled by home cooking and living in San Francisco's Japantown for 3 years, I can confidently say that Boru Boru is the best place in town to get a good customizable ramen. Friendly people, fast service (way faster than Ur Bowl!) That tonkotsu is BOMB and I come on Sundays for the free 4 piece gyoza with entree. The food is pricey, but satisfies. I come here a few times a month and it's good for take out or eating in, whether you're alone or with friends. The place is welcoming and well-lit with a great vibe. There's usually loud pop music playing, but the place itself is well organized and always extremely clean. Staff works hard and it shows. Only thing is that I'd wish they stayed open past 9pm. I went to this shop to get boba. It was the worst boba in my life! It was like tea that you drink when you're sick but cold. They only had 5 flavors. My sister and me both got the mango flavor. The actual tea didn't have any mango flavors in it or anything. All it had was little mango jelly that didn't even taste like mango. I don't think that they knew what they were doing. I also don't know if that's how they make it but the tea was unsweet and it was a dark brown but I ordered MANGO, which should be a light yellow or orange.I will never go back to this place! read more

Best place in town for a pork belly ramen. The all about the pork is my go to every time I come in. I have yet to try a lot on their menu because that ramen is just perfection every time I order it. It comes topped with a black garlic oil and miso ground pork and I can never get enough of it. The noodles themselves are delicious and the perfect amount. Sundays are ramen Sundays, so with every order of ramen you get an order of gyozas. Boru Boru is always so clean and they have great customer service. I love the daily deals that this restaurant offers! On Sundays, there is free gyoza with a ramen purchase. The spicy pork ramen was my favorite entree, the soup was flavorful and the noodles were a good chewy texture. The pork belly rice bowl had very soft and flavorful pork, and good sushi rice. I was not the biggest fan of the bulgogi beef bowl or the Soft Shell Crab option, so I wouldn't recommend those two. Staff is extremely friendly and very open. The cashiers are always willing to offer suggestions and listen to preferences when giving their assistance. The food is worth it, the bowls are some of my favorite. The protein is always fresh and haven't tried anything I haven't absolutely loved. So, on Fridays they have 20% off their boba which is great. A lot of boba drinks can be very expensive so it makes sense. I will say however it is the most bitter Boba I've ever tasted. They just boil the Boba in water and add no brown sugar no sweetener. It taste like chewy nothing. I'm gonna have to go home and add sugar to myself. Also the Matcha latte it's not even a Matcha latte there is no cream and it is also very bitter but a lot more bitter than usual because Matcha is usually pretty bitter. I don't like coconut but the taro coconut looks very nice I have not tried it. I got a miso broth with pork belly yesterday, it taste very good the broth and the pork belly it was also fairly priced but the boba is not worth a pretty penny there is many other places that are good and although it's 20% off on Friday it's still pretty bad unless you can get it sweeter because the Boba taste like chewy nothing. another positive they add very light ice so it doesn't dilute the drink too much just to keep it cold. It's a shame how bitter the drink is you have to either ask for sweetness proud of yourself I don't know if you could ask for more sweetness. A better tasting and a little bit more expensive place is bubble tea bar. It's very good there Boba tastes very good and the Matcha, taro and passion fruit drinks are very good as well. Food pretty good, boba not so much. UPDATE: so, yesterday we both got terribly sick from the boba. He drank the taro and I drank the matcha. We felt sick for hours and it was terrible. read more

Boru Boru is such a great addition to the food options in Tallahassee! Upon walking in, the atmosphere was so inviting and nice. The decor is super modern, streamlined, and clean. The staff was also very kind and helped us out with the menu since there were so many options. My husband ordered the Muscle Man rice bowl and I got the Caveman Sushirito. Both meals came with a drink included in the price and were very fresh. The Muscle Man had pickled onions, which was such a tasty addition. The sushi rice was well-cooked and balanced in proportion with the other ingredients. The sauces and toppings on each meal were delicious and brought a lot of flavor, while not taking away from the overall meal. They have over 15 different options and any can be made a bowl, burrito, or salad bowl. They had lots of starters and a drink area with Japanese sodas, teas, and other drink options. In addition to having such good food, the store was SO eco-friendly. The bowls, plates, cups, straws, and lids are all biodegradable paper or corn plastic (which biodegrades after about 3 months). It was really great to see this emphasis in Tallahassee, which is mostly behind bigger cities in eco-friendly restaurant choices. We loved our experience and our meal! Dining experience/customer service: Customer service was satisfactory. Greetings and guidance was very helpful since it was our first time. She even verified our order! This was appreciated because we caught something that was not wanted. They bring your food to you. Ingredients & Improvement recommendations: The ingredients were fresh, although bland. There's not much of a flavor to it. Sauces will cost you extra. I was told that the sauce was in my sushi burrito, however it wasn't. The edadame had a bit too much oil, especially on the bottom or last few due to gravity. On the positive side, the food presentation is superb! Atmosphere/environment: Dining in option (COVID-19 time period). The restaurant's layout is pretty neat, indoor and outdoor options. I like the booth, didn't sit in them but they seemed very comfortable. Notes:Amount/pricing $: The prices seems to be a bit on the high side.. $11 or above on the main menu. The sides are fair, besides the baos. Note that baos are small. $7 for 2 I believe... which $7 could easily be an entire meal else where. Amount/portions: The portion was fair. You can definitely finish it in 1 sitting. The sushi burrito is pretty big! The bowl of Ramen is medium. We ordered sides separately so keep that in mind for pricing and portion. Covid sucks. I'm back and I'm out eating again and I just discovered this place. I ran into the owner at my work and we spoke for a bit and he invited me to try out his restaurant. I don't normally Go out for lunch but I made him a promise so I stopped by. When I went in there, it smelled amazing. It has all the wonderful smell that I miss from my mom's cooking. I ordered the pork belly bao and the pork belly ramen soup. Let's talk about the bao first. It tasted like a sophisticated revamping of a spring roll that I used to eat but with the pork which was soft and tender with great flavor. The pickled veggies gave it a little crunch and sourness that mixed with the sweetness of the pork and housing sauce. The white exterior was able to hold in the flavors and absorb them so you can taste everything. Unfortunately, my mouth is big so it can almost go in with one bite. I could have eaten a whole bag of those like you get when you order White Castle burgers (just an example, no endorsing White Castle). Now the Ramen soup, yummmy. The soup absorbed all of the flavors of what was in it with the different meats, egg yolk, and veges. The noodles itself was cooked just right. I don't know what else to say but I will definitely be back and tell others about it. Come get some. read more
