I have to say that Borland Groover is a master assembly line medical treatment and care center unlike anything I've seen in a while! It reminded me of waiting in a military pharmacy! Now I will not say that is a bad thing. This well-oiled machine operates successfully by the skilled and highly experienced medical professionals and staff who run the front office area. Though the lobby is large, it was still a pretty crowded house. I had to take my dearest for a medical procedure here with Dr. Ibach and I found the care overall as highly impressive. I appreciate very much that Dr. Ibach visited the patient (which I did get to be part of) after her procedure, even though she was still pretty dazed as the anesthesia hadn't worn off yet. That was ok. No one forgets good quality Dr. to patient care. Dr. Ibach is a first class experienced professional who I would recommend to anyone anytime. As I watched things move along here, I did notice on the monitor that the names on it moved on and off pretty quickly overall. To its credit, this Borland Groover clinic has created a fine-tuned machine in moving patients along through this medical treatment center. Wish I could give zero stars. Staff is incredibly rude and gives you the run around. My adult son was made to jump through hoops for MONTHS to the point where he has run out of his medication needed for his auto-immune disease and they REFUSE to continue his prescription. He WAS in full remission, verified by a colonoscopy, but won't be soon without his medication. The gross incompetence of the billing department caused unnecessary insurance costs. They just want your co-pay and will charge you for a missed appointment (even with confirmation the appointment was preemptively cancelled). As big of a clinic as this is I am sure they will not care about their reviews, but if anyone looking for care reads this, I hope they consider taking their business and health care needs elsewhere. read more

At this appt, Dr Etzkorn reviewed results of pancreas endoscopy. We had reviewed this 2 months ago. For the MRI results he reviewed gallbladder but not liver. He did not review barium swallow results for problems with my throat & voice. (3 appts ago he had abruptly told me to see an ENT! This is acid reflux related!) For constipation he suggested prune juice (for lifelong chronic constipation) Told him I had tried Linzess for 30 days with no effect. He voice recorded that he would try a different drug if prune juice didnt work, without bothering to ask what other drugs/methods I had tried. I emailed him to ask about results of the liver MRI. I received copies of 13 test results on my patient portal. Just as well. I can read test results as well as Etzkorn. I'll take these with me to my new GI doctor, not affiliated with BG. read more

I had some serious medical issues last year while out of town and ended up going through some procedures. I was released to fly home after about a month and advised to find a GI doctor as soon as I got home. I was referred to Borland Groover by my primary at St. Vincents. I was asked what Doctor and I had done some research online and found Dr. Wilson. She was able to get my in just two days later. She is amazing! The first time I met her, I took my stack of paperwork, records from my hospital visits and discs with images. Io waited less than 5 minutes before being taken back on my appointment day. Dr. Wilson's nurse made a copy of my documents. She then came in and went over page by page. She spent over 45 minutes with me going over everything, symptoms, treatment, procedures, medications and a plan for care. I literally cried because I felt heard and I was able to just ask questions and get my answers. A month after seeing her, I felt horrible again. I called her office and they told me to go to the hospital she was at that day. I went to the ER and was admitted. Dr. Wilson showed up in my room that day and every morning I was in the hospital. Over the couple of months I saw Dr. Wilson, she was always on time. She was caring, understanding, took the time I needed with me and got me feeling the best I had in years. She made suggestions for me to ask my primary which I followed through with and am going forward with care that she suggested. She did additional tests with me as well as procedures and I always felt in good hands. She is amazing! I cannot recommend her more highly and I feel so grateful for her. read more

Dr. Etzkorn said that I needed a capsule endoscopy. While my doctor is located at the beautiful Belfort facility, my appt was for 8:30 a.m. downtown, at 1824 King St. Totally ridiculous for a 74 y.o. to drive downtown in rush hour traffic. When you arrive, you will find a building that is vacant except for the third floor. All I needed to do was swallow a capsule and have a belt with a recorder attached. Took about 15 min. (Took 45 min to get there) Seriously, this couldn't have been done at the Belfort facility? read more

I am not one to write many reviews, but after my experience here, I wanted to share my very positive experience. Everything from the very beginning was smooth and efficient. The intake nurse was friendly, through and comforting. The anaesthesiologist came in to introduce herself, and was reassuring, friendly and funny. We all had a giggle as they wheeled me in to the procedure room for my upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. My Doctor (Dr. Khoury) is great also ... excellent bedside manner, assuring, informative and engaging. I have to say I was quite impressed with the entire experience and would definitely go back again. All of my nurses, Doctor, and everyone involved in my care were great. read more

I have been under the care of Borland-Groover for several years. Previously I was satisfied with the care I'd received. About a year ago I returned from a church mission trip to South Africa with serious issues which are still ongoing of numerous procedures and medications. My pharmacy and I have reached out multiple times with no response. I have personally emailed and called to request to speak with my doctor. She has yet to follow up on her patient. Truly as bad as the VA. I cant tell how many times I've been there and felt like I was being rushed out after waiting for a while. I had terrible and constant diarrhea for 8 , yes eight years. All I ever got was a different name and a different prescription. I ended up hospitalized and nearly had a fatal Colon bleed. Borland Groover wanted to do a colonoscopy the next day. I checked myself out with the approval of $ doctors with the exception of Borland Groover. I went straight to Mayo and after they treated the infection, I was told I also had Celiac Disease. Something that should have been diagnosed with any on the 10 colonoscopies I had done with Borland Groover. That was the cause of all of my issues. read more

Unfortunately I've been having some medical issues and had to get a few procedures done at this location. For my actual procedure this would be the first time I'd actually see the doctor, as I typically see the nurse practitioner. My appointment was scheduled for 3, but was told to get there an hour before. I got there at 145, checked in, and was told I'd be called shortly. I was in the waiting room for over an hour, so my 3 pm procedure time came and went. I received no update regarding the doctor being behind. Which was annoying. While this isn't the check-in office personnel's fault, it was irritating that everyone seemed to come and go. Finally I was called over an hour plus of waiting. I was brought back and after being checked in by a nurse, she said the doctor would be right with me. I then proceeded to sit for another hour and twenty minutes, no doctor, no update from anyone. I felt like I was totally left and forgotten. I didn't have access to my phone and certainly didn't want my husband worrying since I should have been done with my procedures. Finally over an hour later a nurse stopped by and said your doctor is running behind and I was next and he'd be right with me. Then another 20 minutes later the doctor stopped by, seemed annoyed; said he didn't have his name tag. All really concerning: he said that someone would be with me. Another 10 minutes I wound up waiting. Finally was wheeled to the room. The doctor was scrolling on his phone. Prior to be wheeled back, I was literally the last one there. Everyone was cleaning up. The procedures seemed to go by quickly but I was out. I'll be honest this whole situation soured me on this whole experience. It's not bad enough I've been feeling awful, was scared about the procedures, but as of late, my appointments with this practice has been close to awful. I like the nurse practitioner, but the waiting is beyond annoying and I feel like a number not a person. Tip: if you can find a different practice, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

These are the worse Medical professionals. I just had Knee revision surgery, had an appointment scheduled shortly after the procedure, a follow up to testing, I was told to stay off my leg for the next 8 weeks when I tried to reschedule or do it virtually. This is going to be a 10 to twenty minute appoint saying I am good as test result were good. They could not find an appointment for over 4 months. So it will be a new year with different medical coverage and I am moving. I am not driving 6 hours for a follow up appointment that will pat me on the head telling I am good. 4 months is ridiculous and why the heck they couldn't make it virtual is utterly insane. She spent about 3 minutes with me and then proceeded to charge me $275 for the visit that should have been done over the phone. I went to Borland Groover for my first preventative colonoscopy. This was also my first time in the offices. During the 2020 pandemic, seeking health care has become somewhat of a daunting task. The office staff had the check-in system on lockdown. I received a temperature check before leaving the waiting room. Due to the anesthesia you must have someone drive you home, but due to covid your ride must wait in the car until notified to pick you up. Once I left the waiting room I was taken to a room that reminded me of an ER. I changed into the hospital gown and put all of my belongings in a bag which was placed under my bed and traveled with me throughout the facility. The nurse provided warm fuzzy socks (because I wore flip-flops) and a warm blanket. My vitals were checked and many questions were answered. The anesthesiologist placed an IV in my hand in preparation for the colonoscopy. Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman stopped by to introduce himself and brief me on the procedure. I was not expecting this and was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Hoffman taking a few minutes out of his busy day gave me reassurance. I was in this room roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Then I was wheeled to the procedure room. Shortly after entering the procedure room the anesthesia was dispensed into my IV. Next thing I remember the nurse woke me up in the recovery room. I had to stay roughly 10 additional minutes to ensure my vitals were stable. Then I text my friend to pick me up and I was on my way home. All of the staff were amazing! From the front desk check in, to the many nurses, anesthesiologist and Dr. Hoffman. Thank you for taking such good care of me;) For anyone feeling anxious about a colonoscopy I can tell you the worst part is the day before when you have to prep. I've only had great experiences with BG....thr front desk lady didn't seem like she really wanted to be there, but once I got back to Ms. Norlene (intake nurse) it was off to the races. Very professional, very detailed in reviewing my history, and super easy to talk to. Then came Ms. Shay for the IV...she too was super professional, very nice, very easy to work with. Next was Ms. Maurine (Nurse Anesthestatist(sp) she listened to my concerns and was very quick to offer a resolution, she was super easy to work with and let me tell ya, she KNOWS her business...it was lights out for the procedure and no ill affects afterwards *Thank you Ms Maurine you are amazing! Then onto the "show" Dr Poland is very pleasant, very open to hearing your concerns and is quick to offer great solutions to your medical concerns. Are you interested in waiting months to see your doctor??? Then come on down to B&G where you too can be treated like your just another butthole to be seen. Are you interested in waiting in the waiting area for hours, the again come on down to B&G where you will wait and wait and wait and not be told until an hour or more in that your doctor is running late because she's doing rounds at the hospital. And wait, they give you a scrolling board to show you the delay but not in hours more like minutes. Talk about causing insult to injury to an already testy gastro problem as stress can really screw up your guts. Oh wait, want to see a different doctor because they have one thats available and yours is not, sure you can do that, but guess what...they won't let you go back to your original doctor because "they have these rules" that say once your change you can't go back. Seriously!?!?!? I mean I watched local celebrities go in and be seen and leave no problem, but if your a nobody Joe schmoo take a deli number and get ready for turning a year older before being seen. They tell you they will put you on a cancellation list to call you but you never hear from them so you wait 5 months for an appointment after going to the ER twice and having a followup appointment with your doctor is apparently not important for this cash cow of a corporation. You could literally die in the waiting room and probably not get noticed until the twelfth of never. I can't wait to see if my next appointment is canceled by their office as the last three have been...because of multiple reasons. This is the only doctors office I have ever seen that does not hold back some appointments for people who were in the ER in an situation and needing immediate follow up. Just too many 1 star reviews for this NOT to be an accurate depiction of how patients are treated. I rarely throw any business under the bus with a 1 star review, but if I could give this place 0 stars I would. They will NOT set up an appointment until you go there, pay for an office visit to say "I want to set up an appointment for a colonoscopy' This is a cheesy and fraudulent way to get $40 out of you and money out of medicare. THEN they said they called in the script but wait an hour to pick up. I went to the pharmacy the next day, no script. I called the doctor's office, they said 'oh whoops, we forgot to do it, I'll have the nurse call it in" I said 'please confirm that it's been called in" They did not confirm, but running out of time, I went to the pharmacy a second time and they had NOT called it in again! I had stopped my needed blood thinners for two days and had modified my diet, set up rides there and back, and gone to the pharmacy twice. Do you want to ever do business with an inept place like this, much less trust them not to rupture your intestines when they can't do the most basic things, set up an appointment, and call in a prescription?? read more

Had a Colonoscopy on 17 November at Borland-Groover southside office. Approximately 3 weeks prior had a doctor visit to discuss the appointment and get preparation paperwork. The day of procedure I checked in with Kimberly at the front desk and sat in the waiting room for my procedure an hour away. Less than 30 minutes later I was called to the back where I met Mindy the nurse doing my surgery pre-op. Kelly (RN) and Nancy, my anaesthetist. They made quick work of getting me comfortable and relaxed. I had questions that were answered to my satisfaction. After the procedure Kristina in recovery took care of me till she released me to my wife. Doctor Chau has a wonderful staff to work with. Everyone treated me with dignity and respect. read more

I have given Borland Groover more than one chance to redeem themselves since they are the only game in town. My first bad experience was with Dr. Reid who had been treating me for years for Barrett's esophagus when I never had Barrett's esophagus at all. Pretty sure their primary objective is to diagnose you with conditions that require repeated imaging and procedures. However, I did relent. My father died of colon cancer and I had gone far too many years past my recommended five year procedure. They gave me an appointment with Dr. Reid and I said I did not want to see her again. I was then given an appointment with Dr. Poland, and I was told I did not need to be seen before the procedure because I had already been seen by another member of BG. I saw Dr. Poland for a grand total of 3 minutes right before the procedure began. She said I seemed nervous, to which I replied "I'm not nervous. I just want to get this over with." After the procedure, the nurse told me what had been found during the colonoscopy. Again, Dr. Poland came in for 3 additional minutes, briefly went over the findings and asked if I had questions. I got dressed and went home. I had no pain at all when I left. After arriving home, my stomach started cramping and I sat on the toilet and suddenly felt like someone was sticking a knife up my rectum. I avoid calling the doctor at all costs but after a few hours of being in excruciating pain, my husband urged me to call the office. It took a long time to get to Dr. Poland's nurse, her suggesting it was hemorrhoids because I have a mild case, and after explaining the issue (embarrassing), telling her it was not hemorrhoid pain and telling her I felt what I thought was a tear in my rectum, she advised me to use hemorrhoid cream. And though it was early afternoon of a business day, she did not want to see me. After our phone call, I stood up and the pain made me scream. I will spare you the details of how I discovered what the problem was. But it turns out there was a thin half-inch piece of yellowish colored plastic in the shape of a star with very pointy edges lodged in my rectum. Immediately after it was removed, the excruciating pain dissipated. My husband again urged me to call Dr. Poland's nurse to tell her what I found. She acted baffled and told me to put it in a bag and bring it in for my follow-up. Today I returned for my follow-up with the object in a plastic bag. When I told the nurse practitioner (Dr. Poland was nowhere to be seen) what happened and that I was told to bring the object in, she took the baggie and said she was going to show it to Dr. Poland. 10 minutes later, the nurse (not even the nurse practitioner) was sent back in with the baggie to tell me the object had nothing to do with their procedure, that it must have been something I ate. What an absurd thing to suggest. Not only had a not eaten in two days but that pointy star would have caused extreme pain going through my GI. I was appalled that this was Dr. Poland's reaction and that she didn't have the decency to come in, say she was sorry but she had no idea what the object is. I had already explained to the nurse practitioner that I was now fine, but I wanted to know what had happened. I know the nurse was just the messenger but I told her I would not be signing consents for them to get any of my records from Mayo or MD Anderson, that I would not be coming back to BG. This is the very worst medical care I have ever received. The nursing staff in the procedure room were kind and caring but that is not enough to ensure high quality medicine. I made the mistake of going back after a very bad experience with Dr. Reid thinking it was just her. I tried to chase down the results of an endoscopy for weeks after someone from Dr. Reid's office called to tell me I had a pancreatic cyst. No one answers you. You're left in a state of anxiety waiting for them to get back to you. It's terrible medicine. After the experience this month with Dr. Poland, I will never return to BG. read more

Borland Groover (Barr St) ... After going through the SouTab prep for colonscopy, and having to use products like "Depends" because of the result of the prep, the body is really worn and tired, to a point of not understanding a whole lot. Then you get to the office, where 1 of 3 robotic women who don't even look at you, take your ID, hand you a packet of about 25 laminated sheets of typed things, in type so small, you can read it any of it anyway, because you are so bleary eyed and exhausted from being up all night with explosive diarrhea, then told to sign a pin pad, that doesn't show you what you are signing - then you are told to sit and wait ... then when called, taken back to a room alone, where they stick you, (I told that nurse NOT to use my hand) ... and prod you, but DON"T tell you what's about to happen to you. I WASN't told about something called a Bravo capsule, or monitor that was placed INSIDE me! They didn't tell me. Not the doctor, ... NO ONE. The only one who seemed mildly concerned was the anasthesiologist who spent time looking to make sure I could take the medication as I have several stents. The next thing I remember is some nurse telling me to "WAKE UP", "WAKE UP", I had liquid and air coming out of me, I started to cry and she kept telling me to "WAKE UP", then she pushed a monitor thing on me, started telling me to push the middle button, I had no idea what this thing was, why I had to push it, what it was for, I couldn't stand, or dress myself, I have a hard time coming out of anesthesia ...and she even said that to me, I had to ask her PLEASE help me dress, the doctor stuck his head in the curtain, said I had diverticulosis and something else, I was so out of it, I don't even remember what he said, the nurse was just hell bound on getting me in that wheelchair and out of the office. She wheeled me outside, where my husband was standing by the truck, I was sobbing, I didn't know what was happening, he asked what that monitor was, I didn't know, the nurse handed him a bunch of paperwork and left ... A throat scope, a colonscopy, and the placement of something called a Bravo capsule, in and out in less than 2 hours?????????????? They had apparently called my husband and told him the same thing about this monitor thing, he had no idea what they were talking about either. He tried to question them, and they just told him they'd be out with me, and he was to wait out at the vehicle in the parking lot. He said he was in the waiting room, and they repeated that he was to go to the vehicle and wait there ... Apparently it took about 25 minutes for them to get me to him in the parking lot ... and he was so rattled at my condition, and trying to help me in to the truck, and the nurse just left us standing there ... I had no idea what to do with this monitor, or couldn't even barely function til late afternoon, and I called the after hours number and lost my mind all over the on call doctor. The doctor who had done the procedure did call shortly after, probably due to the fact that I threatened to call a lawyer ... and admitted he didn't tell me about this "Bravo" thing. He attached a capsule inside my esophagus! He said he had mentioned it to me about 4 months ago and I got a paper explaining it ... I asked him when that would have been since it was a FACETIME call. I had never met the man, nor gotten any such paperwork ... "Oh yeah Sorry" was the response and a whole of other CYA statements ... I was violated. From start to finish at Borland Groover. It was horrific what I went through, and they haven't even had the decency to call and apologize to me. They called my husband, and he told them how awful it was, and they tried to blame it on covid. THERE WERE NO COVID PROTOCOLS IN PLACE!!! No one wore a mask. Shame on her for even trying to pass that one off! When it is PISS POOR patient care! How dare they boast on their website that they care about their patients and show exceptional care!!! THAT IS AN ABSOLUTE LIE! And the fact that that Nurse manager who spoke to my husband this morning told him they were changing their policies today .... and how sorry they were that happened to us ... EXCUSE ME??? I called to make an appointment at the Santa Rosa Beach location, I talked to Trinity M who was very unhelpful and Rude. I am new to the area and she seemed very upset that I have a temporary insurance card that didn't have the information she asked me about printed on it, and that I don't have the zip code to my pharmacy memorized. I've been a patient for several years. Recently, I began having severe abdominal pain. Dr. Chau suggested a few things and I had some tests done. Dr. Chau's nurse, who I spoke to both on the phone and via email, has a nasty attitude and was just plain rude. I realize asking questions or complaining about the constant pain is a huge inconvenience to her, but it is her job to handle patients. I would not recommend seeing any of the doctors who use this same nurse. The front desk ladies are all amazingly helpful and polite. I brought my Mom for her endoscopy and colonoscopy at the Borland Groover Clinic yesterday. We were both so impressed. From the lady who checked her in, her nurses, her anesthesiologist. Needless to say, Dr. Misra is the absolute best. She is even more impressed today because the IV she got from another hospital 12 days ago is still bruised but the one she got yesterday is no longer visible. Thank you so much! read more

I had a great visit at this center. All of the staff were polite and professional while also being kind and friendly. Each step of the way, the care team made sure I understood what was happening and was ready to answer questions. The lady at the front desk was friendly. The first nurse who set me up was kind- and had to travel so far to get to work. The anesthesia person was great, the nurses after were kind and patient. The doctor (Goyle) was friendly and professional and took the time to answer my questions. Overall, for what the experience was, it went well. They ran a bit behind but this happens all the time with doctors and just tells me the doctor was taking the time he needed to give everyone a high standard of care- which is something we all wanted and something I was willing to wait for. read more

Garbage. There is absolutely nothing proactive about this place. You'll wait months for an appointment just for your doctor to give you the run around and order a bunch of tests. Then they will not see you for another few months even if your issue is urgent. Best part is they won't even tell you your test results over the phone. You have to wait months for an in person appointment and pay yet another copay just for them to give you access to your own medical data. Upon follow up your doctor will likely just diagnose with some broad label like IBS. It means they have no clue what's going on and are happy to shoo you away after you just gave them and their lab test friends a ton of money. Borland Groover just wants to charge your insurance so they do a bunch of unnecessary testing. The Doctor or PA didn't understand my condition at all, just wanted to keep charging my insurance and was less concerned about my every day. Thank God I found Dr. Nieto again. He is at the Digestive Disease Consultants and is BY FAR the most knowledgeable and amazing doctor. He was able to help me in 1 visit. Highly recommend Dr. Nieto and NOT Borland Groover. read more
