The lady on the phone was snippy and short and acted like I was stupid for asking questions about things I am unfamiliar.

He gave me some options and what the cost would be with each option. The price for the job was lower then what I thought it was going to be. Less than a year later, while selling my home, the St. Louis County occupancy inspection failed because their installation contained clear code violations, including a missing required expansion tank and a non-compliant flex connector. When I contacted SOS Plumbing, the owner told me he intentionally didn't install the required expansion tank because he was "trying to save me some money" and didn't know I was planning to sell my home. Instead of taking responsibility for the code violations, he quoted me another $800-900 to correct his own work. I refused to pay twice for the same job and hired another licensed plumbing company, paid an additional $750 to bring the installation into compliance. A homeowner shouldn't have to tell a licensed plumber they're planning to sell their home to receive a code-compliant installation. Paying premium prices should mean getting professional work done correctly the first time--not paying someone else to fix it later. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend SOS Plumbing and would urge anyone considering to think twice before trusting these 5 star reviews! Update: Since business owner replied(pretty classic "defensive rewrite of history" response): Just to be clear. please don't reframe "code compliance" as optional upgrades. Those are not "nice-to-have upgrades". they're required for compliant installation. And please stop that "budget priority" claim. That is not true. Don't try to justify omissions on your end. did not request a non-compliant installation or decline required code-compliance work. At no point was I informed that the installation would not pass occupancy inspection or that required code items were being excluded from the work performed. The water heater installation later failed occupancy inspection during the sale of my home, requiring additional work to bring it into compliance. While scope and pricing were discussed, I relied on a licensed contractor to complete a code-compliant installation and to clearly communicate any items required for compliance at the time of service. It is not reasonable to expect a homeowner to independently identify or approve hidden code deficiencies during what was represented as a standard installation. I was not seeking a "budget" or stripped-down installation. If cost-cutting was the primary expectation, I would have chosen a different contractor. The equipment installed was a Bradford White unit, which is a professional-grade water heater, not a low-cost or economy product. I specifically chose to go with this business because they have a premium brand unit available and I know this is not a budget big box store option. So please stop bringing up that "budget" claim. The business's response is misleading and not consistent with what was communicated or agreed upon at the time of service. The characterization that I declined required code-compliance work is not accurate.

Goodbye dog bed and plushie dog toys. Goodbye paycheck for the day as anyone who has ever had to deal with this sort of thing knows. You have to toss the awful smelly heavy wet items, mop up the biohazard, then disinfect everything. I felt sick for days afterwards. Back to my story - The river of sewage was very surprising as I had only washed my face and flushed the toilet once after I went upstairs for the night the night before. The plumber who came told me that the 3 townhouses next to mine are all connected to me and so if they have a problem (flush wipes, etc) it is going to back up in my townhouse. Definitely not the news I wanted to hear. He brings back all 105 feet of snake and finds hair and "strings" (indicative of feminine products). I like the term "drowned rat" myself. I receive an email from my apartment complex that I now owe $335 for the plumbing. Mind you, I use a drain catcher for my long curly hair and I learned early on from my father to always respect the toilet. I call Gravity Drain Services and kindly ask if they could reach out to my apartment complex to inform them what the plumber told me, that the issue could have come from the 3 townhouses connected to me. They decline. Wow. Is it too much to ask for the truth to be told? That's all I was asking. The little guy gets knocked down again. UPDATE - the rental company was told the truth and the charge was removed. Thank you for doing the right thing.

First off, this is the same business as Kirkwood Plumbing. They operate under both names, but…read moreconfirmed to me that they were the same business, when I asked. I have a sewer clogging, where the sewer water backs up into the basement. I had a team of theirs here at my house. They came to run a camera in the line and also rotor it out if that was the issue. As they ran the camera, they told me the sewer line went to the alley. I told them that to my knowledge, it went to the street side, not the alley. I also told them that I know that there had been formerly a second house on this lot, but that it was demolished before I bought the place. I said that there was a "dead arm" of the sewer ending in the spot where the former building had been, but no longer active. The technicians said "no, your sewer line only goes to the alley, there is no line going to the front, to the main street. They then proceeded to rotor that old sewer line, which they said is longer than the 80 feet of cable they had available. And according to them, the sewer line was longer than that. They said that the blockage had to be further away, and with the 80 foot cable, they could not reach there. So, is there a rule that a sewer line can't be longer than 80 feet? I've never heard of that! Basically, they charged me 587 $ for camera work on a dead arm, no longer in service sewer line that they found. They also denied that I had an active line going out to the front of the house where the MSD sewer line goes. They did not solve my problem, but wanted to get paid anyway. I did pay them. They then told me that for 18,000 Dollars!!!!! they would like to come back and "fix" my non-existing sewer line issue. Today, I had MSD here at my home. They found where my sewer line enters the main MSD sewer line out on Bates street. They poured dye into two lines of my sewer: one access point in the front of my house, and one access point in the back of the house, from the basement stairwell. Result: YES, I have active sewer lines going from my house to the street. They let me see it for myself on the monitor in their truck! So Mr. Rooter did not do any efficient job for me, but they took the payment of 587.00 bucks for nothing, just wasting my time along the way. And 18,000 $ as in eighteen thousand dollars!!! for coming back and "finding" my sewer line or rather putting one into my house???? What should I call that???? You tell me!
